Itinerary
Day 1 - Welcome to Maui
Kahului - Kaanapali. Arrive at Kahului Airport (OGG), then take a taxi or Uber to our hotel in Kaanapali.
This evening, we’ll enjoy a welcome group dinner at a restaurant near our hotel, followed by the traditional sunset cliff diving ceremony at Black Rock by the Sheraton Maui – a celebrated local ritual honouring the legend of Maui.
Day 2 - Haleakala National Park & Iao Valley State Monument
Kaanapali - Haleakala National Park - Makawao - Iao Valley State Monument - Kaanapali. Today, we travel to Haleakala – the “House of the Sun” – to take in sweeping views from 9,740 feet above sea level. We’ll explore the red slopes of this dormant volcano, home to unique native plants, and keep a lookout for the endangered Nene, Hawaii’s state bird.
On our descent, we’ll stop for lunch in Makawao, a charming upcountry town with a rich ranching history and deep ties to Hawaii’s cowboy, or Paniolo, culture. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, you can visit Komoda Store & Bakery – well known for its cream puffs and doughnuts on a stick.
This afternoon, we visit the sacred Iao Valley State Monument. Surrounded by lush vegetation and dramatic peaks, we’ll take a short walk to the viewing platform for a spectacular view of the Iao Needle, a natural rock pinnacle rising from the valley floor. After a full day, we return to the hotel for a well-earned rest.
Day 3 - Maui South Shore Catamaran & Snorkelling
Kaanapali - Maui South Shore - Kaanapali. This morning, we travel to Maui’s south shore for a relaxing and scenic day at sea. We board a 54-foot sloop-rigged sailing catamaran, designed with plenty of space to stretch out and enjoy uninterrupted views of Kahoʻolawe and Lānaʻi. Our first snorkelling destination is the iconic Molokini Crater, followed by a second stop – usually at Turtle Town, known for its resident green sea turtles.
A light continental breakfast is served on board, featuring Mom Coon’s fourth-generation cinnamon rolls, chilled tropical fruit, and your choice of Kona coffee, hot tea, hot cocoa or pineapple juice. Later, we enjoy a freshly prepared lunch of teriyaki grilled chicken, tossed green salad with Mom Coon’s signature dressing, luau rice and soft Hawaiian sweet rolls – all served plated, with no buffet lines or disposable tableware.
After our snorkelling adventure, we return to the resort. The afternoon and evening are yours to spend as you wish.
Day 4 - Road to Hana & Maui Luau
Kaanapali - Hana - Kaanapali. Today, we embark on a full-day adventure along the legendary Road to Hana – one of the most scenic drives in the world. This winding coastal route offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, lush rainforests and a series of waterfalls, some of which you may have the chance to swim beneath, depending on the conditions. Along the way, we’ll stop at several iconic locations, including a park where you can take a dip in a waterfall-fed pool, weather permitting.
Midday, we’ll enjoy a relaxing lunch on a local organic farm, surrounded by the beauty of East Maui’s natural landscape.
In the evening, we gather for a traditional Maui luau on the oceanfront at Kaaanapali Beach. We’re welcomed with a shell lei greeting before witnessing the ceremonial unearthing of the pua‘a (roast pig) from the imu (underground oven). A feast of Hawaiian specialities follows, accompanied by tropical cocktails such as mai tais garnished with fresh pineapple. As the sun sets, we celebrate the island’s rich culture through hula performances, rhythmic Polynesian drumming and the dramatic fire knife dance – a truly unforgettable evening.
Day 5 - Maui to the Big Island
Kaanapali - Kahului - Kailua-Kona. After a relaxed breakfast, we check out of our hotel and make our way to the airport. Before our flight, we’ll stop at a nearby food truck for lunch (not included)
We then fly to the Island of Hawai‘i – the Big Island – to continue our adventure. This internal flight is included in the cost of your tour.
Upon arrival and after collecting our luggage, we head to Kona Joe’s Coffee for a tour of their locally owned coffee estate. Here, we’ll learn about the process of cultivating and roasting Kona coffee, with the chance to experience the craft first-hand. Afterwards, you’ll be transferred to the Royal Kona Resort, where the rest of the day and evening are yours to enjoy at your leisure.
Day 6 - Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park - Kailua-Kona
Kailua-Kona - Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park - Hilo - Waimea - Kailua-Kona. We spend today exploring the world-renowned Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. Our visit begins with lunch at the Rim Restaurant inside the historic Volcano House, offering panoramic views of the Kīlauea Caldera.
Following lunch, we set out on a three-hour guided fat tyre e-bike tour through the park, exploring volcanic landscapes, steam vents and other geological wonders in an unforgettable way.
After our ride, we continue to Hilo town, where you’ll have an hour to browse local shops or grab a snack. We then make a short stop at Rainbow Falls, an 80-foot cascade set within a lush tropical park – an easy walk leads to a scenic viewpoint.
On our return journey to the resort, we stop in Waimea for dinner at The Fish and the Hog, a local favourite known for its fresh island fare.
Day 7 - Big Island Sailing Day Trip
This morning, we set out on a 4.5-hour sailing and snorkelling excursion from Kona. We board a spacious 65-foot catamaran, well equipped with shaded areas, cushioned seating, restrooms, changing rooms, freshwater showers, a 20-foot water slide and a 15-foot high-jump platform. As we cruise to our snorkelling site in the Red Hill area, there’s an excellent chance of spotting dolphins or other marine life.
A continental breakfast is served on board, including fresh fruit, yoghurt, granola and pastries. Later, we enjoy a BBQ burger lunch with soft drinks, juices and snacks. A full-service premium bar is also available for those who’d like to purchase local craft beers or island-inspired cocktails.
Once anchored, we have around two hours to enjoy the clear waters. All snorkelling gear is provided, including prescription masks, life vests, inner tubes, snorkel instruction and various water toys such as sea-view boards, noodles, and stand-up paddleboards. A floating platform offers added comfort and fun in the water.
After returning to shore, the afternoon and evening are yours to spend as you wish. Dinner is on your own tonight.

Guides remain in the water to ensure a safe and memorable experience. Price: Approx $135 per person.
Day 8 - Maunakea Summit & Stars
Kailu-Kona - Maunakea - Kailu-Kona. Your morning is free to relax and enjoy the resort at your own pace – but this afternoon and evening, you’re in for something truly special.
We head to the slopes of Maunakea for an unforgettable sunset and stargazing experience. Travelling in a comfortable 12-passenger 4WD van, each group is accompanied by a knowledgeable interpretive guide who will share insights into the mountain’s natural, cultural and geological significance along the way.
Our journey begins with a warm outdoor picnic dinner – choose between vegetarian chilli or Southwest chicken stew – while learning about Hawaiian star navigation and the historic paths once travelled across these mountain landscapes. As the sun sets over the Pacific from Maunakea’s slopes, you’ll witness one of the most breathtaking views in all of Hawai‘i.
Once night falls, we descend to a lower elevation where you can sip hot chocolate and marvel at the night sky, free from light pollution. Using an 11″ Celestron telescope and a cutting-edge Stellina astro-photography scope, you’ll have the chance to view deep space objects and capture stunning celestial images to share with friends and family. Warm parkas, gloves, walking sticks, water, dinner and hot drinks are all provided.
