Itinerary
Day 1 - Izmir - Izmir - Pergamum - Thyatira - Smyrna - Izmir
On arrival in Izmir, you will meet your tour guide and travel to Pergamum. Here, we explore the impressive Acropolis, including the ancient city itself, the Altar of Zeusknown historically as the throne of Satanthe Temple of Trajan, and the third-largest library of antiquity. We then visit the Red Basilica, also known as St Johns Church. Afterwards, we continue to Thyatira, now Akhisar, to see the remains of a basilica and Roman architectural fragments. Before returning to Izmir, enjoy a panoramic drive through Smyrna, Turkeys third-largest city and one of the Seven Churches of Asia. You will spend the night in Izmir.
Day 2 - Izmir - Sardis - Philadelphia - Pamukkale
We set off early to Sardis, where we explore the grand Temple that was later converted into a Byzantine church. We also visit the restored gymnasium and the ancient synagogue. Next, we continue to Philadelphia, now known as Alasehir, home to the only church in the region that escaped censorship. Here, we see the remains of a Byzantine basilica featuring brick construction, a high arch, and some 11th-century frescoes. Afterwards, we drive to Hierapolismodern-day Pamukkalefamous for its hot mineral springs that flow over terraces of white travertine, creating natural pools and formations. We visit the Martyrium of the Apostle Philip before heading to Laodicea to stroll along its ancient streets and examine the ruins of this historic city. We return to Pamukkale for an overnight stay.
Day 3 - Pamukkale - Ephesus - Kusadasi
After breakfast, we drive to Ephesus to explore this remarkable ancient city. You will walk along marble streets past notable sites including the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian and the Theatre. Afterwards, we visit the House of the Virgin Mary, believed to be where she spent her final days and was assumed. We then continue to the Basilica of St John and the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Following the tour, we transfer you to your hotel in Ku?adas? for your overnight stay.
Day 4 - Kusadasi - Izmir - Izmir
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to Izmir Airport for your departure flight, timed to suit your schedule.
