We then explore the historic city walls and the lively fishing district, before taking in the stunning exterior of the iconic Hagia Sophia. Our tour also includes entry to Topkapi Palace, which served as the administrative hub of the Ottoman Empire. Here, youll have the chance to wander through its impressive courtyards and pavilions. Following our immersive morning, you have the afternoon free to explore more of this city that uniquely spans both Europe and Asia. As the day wanes, well provide a transfer to Taksim, Istanbuls vibrant commercial heart. You can savour a meal at one of its many diverse restaurants and perhaps catch a glimpse of the nostalgic tram running through the district. For those interested in history, a visit to the nearby Galata Tower offers a fascinating option.

As we journey through the waters that separate Europe and Asia, you'll witness the lively movement of boats all around. We'll glide under the two bridges linking the continents, admiring the stunning views of the Sultans palaces, charming wooden houses, and splendid Ottoman architecture along the way. Upon our return to central Istanbul, you will have some free time to explore the city at your leisure.
Day 4 - Istanbul - Ephesus - Kusadasi
We will depart early from Istanbul to continue our exploration of Turkey. By midday, we'll arrive at Ephesus, one of the most well-preserved ancient cities in Asia Minor. A bustling metropolis two millennia ago, it was home to a quarter of a million people. Our visit includes the Basilica of St. John, the House of the Virgin Mary, and the impressive archaeological site, with tickets provided. Following our enriching experience at Ephesus, we'll head to the coastal town of Kusadasi. Known for its lively atmosphere, commercial activities, and charming castle, Kusadasi offers a delightful end to the day's journey. We'll stay overnight in this vibrant town, with dinner included. Please note, during the high season from May to October, we'll accommodate you in Aydin rather than Kusadasi. In this case, after exploring Ephesus, we'll pause in Kusadasi from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a panoramic tour of the city before proceeding to Aydin.
Day 5 - Kusadasi - Bodrum - Marmaris
On day five of our journey, we set off early to discover one of Turkey's natural marvels, Lake Bafa. Take a moment to soak in the tranquil beauty of this serene lake before we head to Bodrum, a city steeped in history and charm. Known for its Greek heritage, Bodrum invites you to explore its impressive castle, take a leisurely stroll through its vibrant streets, or visit the bustling marina. After enjoying lunch, our journey continues to Marmaris, a picturesque coastal town renowned for its castle, delightful pier, and enchanting fountains. Here, we'll enjoy dinner together. Day 6 - Marmaris - Rhodes
Early morning sees us departing for Greece as we board the express ferry to Rhodes, a journey of approximately one hour. Upon arrival, after completing standard border-crossing formalities, we will set off to explore Rhodes' remarkable walled city and its historic quarter. This area reflects a rich tapestry of cultural influences, with elements from Greek and Roman, Byzantine, Knights of St. John, Ottoman, and Italian eras. The afternoon is yours to discover the island at your leisure. Please be aware that the ferry schedule between Rhodes and Marmaris is subject to frequent changes and does not run daily outside the summer months, which may necessitate adjustments to this segment of the itinerary.
Day 7 - Rhodes - Heraklion
Today, we set out from the city of Rhodes for an exploration of the island. Our first destination is Filerimos, perched atop a hill, where you can visit its historic monastery set amidst stunning landscapes. Our journey then takes us to Lindos, where youll have the opportunity to explore its ancient fortress and Acropolis, offering breathtaking views of the sea. As you wander through Lindos' charming whitewashed streets, you may choose to relax on its inviting beaches or opt for a traditional donkey ride up to the Acropolis. Following lunch, we return to Rhodes city, granting you a leisurely afternoon to explore at your own pace. In the evening, we provide a transfer to the airport for a flight to the island of Crete. Upon arrival, well transfer to your hotel in Heraklion. Please note that flight schedules between Rhodes and Crete are limited and subject to change; occasionally, the flight might occur on Friday morning or include a stopover in Athens.

Our first stop is at Rethymno, a charming coastal city with Venetian roots, celebrated for its medieval castle set against a picturesque backdrop. We then continue to Chania, a fascinating city rich in history, featuring an impressive fortress and grand mansions. Following our exploration of Knossos, we traverse Crete's mountainous terrain, heading south to the picturesque town of Agia Galini, nestled along the Libyan Sea. With its winding streets, a charming fishing port, and lively taverns, Agia Galini offers an inviting setting for lunch and perhaps a refreshing swim in the sea. As the day draws to a close, we'll make our way back to Heraklion, the capital of Crete. Please note, from November to April, we will visit Matala instead of Agia Galini, known for its striking beach and extraordinary cliffside caves.

You'll have time to enjoy lunch and leisurely stroll through this charming area. Later, we'll explore Fira, the vibrant capital of the island. If you're feeling adventurous, you can descend to the port by cable car or mule and take in the sight of majestic cruise ships. After our delightful visit to Santorini, we'll make our way back to the port to catch another high-speed ferry departing around 3:15 p.m., with our anticipated arrival in Athens around midnight. Please note that from November to mid-April, the high-speed ferry is not operational, and during these months, we will fly from Heraklion to Athens instead.
Day 12 - Athens - Kamena Vourla - Kalambaka
After an early morning start in Athens, we head towards northern Greece, halting briefly at Kamena Vourla. This delightful seaside town is a popular tourist spot, surrounded by beautiful scenery. Our journey continues north as we stop at the historic Thermopylae Mountain Pass, renowned for the legendary battle that took place there. We also make a stop at the charming village of Kastraki, offering breathtaking views across the valley. You'll have some free time here to enjoy lunch at your leisure. Later, we explore the majestic Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its incredible rock formations and ancient monasteries perched high above.
