Day 1 - Istanbul
Welcome to your exciting journey in Istanbul! Upon arrival, we'll arrange your transfer to the hotel, giving you some free time to unwind and begin exploring the city at your own pace. In the afternoon, check the boards at the hotel reception for essential information regarding the beginning of your tour. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Istanbul
We begin our day in Istanbul with a panoramic exploration of this remarkable city, uniquely situated across two continents. Our tour takes us to the magnificent Sleymaniye Mosque, the largest in Istanbul, where we can appreciate its grandeur. As we continue, we'll see the historic city walls, the picturesque Golden Horn, and the lively fishing district. We'll also have the chance to admire the iconic exterior of Hagia Sophia, a remarkable architectural wonder. As the day turns to evening, well head to Taksim, a bustling centre filled with an array of dining options. Here, you can choose to savour a meal at one of the many restaurants or take a ride on the charming old tram that weaves through the area. You might also like to explore the nearby Galata Tower, offering a glimpse into the city's rich heritage.
Day 3 - Istanbul - Ankara
On our third day, we will begin by visiting the historic Topkapi Palace, once the administrative heart of the Ottoman Empire. Known for its exquisite courtyards and pavilions, this site offers a wonderful glimpse into the past. Your admission is included, allowing you to fully explore this fascinating landmark. Following our palace visit, we'll embark on a two-hour boat trip along the Bosphorus Straityour ticket for this journey is covered. Aboard a private vessel, we'll navigate the bustling strait that divides Istanbul's European and Asian sides, witnessing the picturesque landscapes dotted with Sultans palaces and traditional wooden houses. As we cruise under the iconic bridges linking two continents, you can absorb the vibrant activity that characterises this important waterway.Our next stop is the Asian side of Istanbul, where we'll dock in the Uskudar district. From here, we continue our adventure, journeying eastward across the Anatolian Peninsula towards Ankara, Turkey's modern capital. We anticipate arriving in time for an included dinner, setting the stage for further exploration tomorrow.
Day 4 - Ankara - Cappadocia
Following breakfast, we set off to explore Ankara, Turkeys lively capital city, which is home to over five million residents and boasts a rich cultural scene, including the State Opera and Ballet, the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, and numerous national theatre groups. Our tour includes a visit to the imposing Mausoleum of Ataturk and the historic 8th-century BC Ankara Castle. Admission to the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations is also included, offering a fascinating glimpse into the diverse cultures that have influenced Turkey over the centuries. Our journey continues towards Cappadocia, with a break at the picturesque Salt Lake for lunch and a chance to absorb its stunning landscapes. Well also stop at Hacibektas, a significant pilgrimage site where the mausoleum of the 13th-century Sufi mystic Hacibektas is located. Please be respectful of the dress code and maintain silence during our visit to this sacred place. We then continue to Nevsehir, where well arrive in time for an included dinner.
Day 5 - Cappadocia
Today, we dedicate our time to exploring the captivating region of Cappadocia, renowned for its extraordinary landscapes, ancient churches, and cave dwellings. Our journey begins in the Greme Valley, where we visit the open-air museum and admire the remarkable rock-hewn churches (admission included). Next, we head to Uchisar, known for its unique natural fortress, followed by an exploration of Kaymakli, an underground city that once accommodated up to 30,000 residents. On our return to Avanos, we pause at Pasabag, or the Fairy Chimneys, offering an opportunity to stroll through this stunning geological area. You will have some leisure time before we conclude the day's adventures. Dinner will be provided.
Day 6 - Cappadocia - Safranbolu
Embark on an extraordinary day as we journey through the heart of Anatolia, travelling north where lush, green landscapes unfold. By early afternoon, we reach Safranbolu, a captivating small city designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, once a pivotal stop on ancient caravan routes. Amidst the charming historic setting of a well-preserved caravanserai courtyard, youll be treated to a traditional Turkish tea. Dinner will be provided as we enjoy the evening in this charming locale.
Day 7 - Safranbolu - Gkgl Magrasi - Eregli - Istanbul
Today, we will travel along the scenic Black Sea coast, renowned for its vibrant green landscapes. Our first destination is Gkgl Magrasi, an awe-inspiring cave known for its underground river and kaleidoscopic colours your entry is on us. Next, we'll head to Eregli, a charming coastal town, where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch and explore the area at your leisure. In the afternoon, you can join us for a visit to the Cehennemagzi caves and tombs, steeped in fascinating mythology. As the day draws to a close, we'll make our way back to Istanbul, ensuring you're settled in by the evening.
Day 8 - Istanbul
Following breakfast, our adventure draws to a close, leaving you with cherished memories of your time in Turkey.
