Day 1 - Bangkok - Kanchanaburi - Tambon Ban Tai
We will meet your driver at Century Park Hotel Bangkok between 06:00 and 06:30 (exact time to be confirmed in advance). You will then travel by private vehicle from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi province, a journey of approximately 128 kilometres taking around three hours. Upon arrival, you will meet your local tour escort who will accompany you to the tranquil countryside of Tha Muang district, about 20 minutes away. At around 09:30, the guide will introduce you to a local family renowned for their traditional Thai sweets. You can relax in the warm atmosphere of their traditional Thai home and garden before joining a cooking lesson with the family. Here, you will learn to prepare several authentic Thai dishes and age-old sweets, using recipes passed down through generations. Please inform us in advance if you prefer a vegetarian meal. You will then enjoy the lunch you have prepared in this charming setting. After bidding farewell to the family at around 13:30, we will visit Wat Baan Tham Temple, a 15-minute drive away. From the hilltop temple, you can take a short walk to admire the impressive Naga statue and enjoy panoramic views of the River Kwai winding through local villages, rice fields and orchards. At approximately 15:00, we will transfer you to your hotel for check-in. After settling in, prepare for an evening culinary adventure as we pick you up at 17:30 for a short ride to the towns street food market. Here, you can explore over a hundred food stalls offering a wide variety of dishes to choose from for dinner (own expense). We will return you to the hotel around 20:00 for a well-earned rest. Overnight in Kanchanaburi.
Day 2 - Kanchanaburi - Bangkok - Khet Phra Nakhon
After breakfast, we set off at around 08:00 am to visit a local family in Kanchanaburi town who produce traditional Thai noodles known as Khanom Jeen. You will see the entire home-based noodle-making process and enjoy tasting Khanom Jeen served with curry. Next, we spend time exploring a nearby vibrant market, where you can soak up the lively atmosphere and help select fresh ingredients for your next cooking lesson. By 10:30 am, we return to the hotel for a final cooking session. Guided by local cooks sharing family recipes, you will prepare and then savour the dishes you have made in the tranquil setting of the hotels garden. After the lesson, you will check out and at around 03:00 pm visit the historic River Kwai Bridge for a brief stop. At approximately 03:30 pm, you board your private transfer back to Century Park Hotel in Bangkok, arriving around 07:00 pm, where your onward travel plans may continue.
