Day 1 - Stockholm
Upon arrival in Stockholm, we will transfer you to your hotel, giving you the perfect opportunity to unwind and enjoy some free time in the city. Later in the day, do check the notice boards at the hotel reception for important details about the start of our tour. This initial day is your chance to acclimatise and explore the vibrant atmosphere of Sweden's captivating capital, known for its beautiful waterways and rich history. Whether you choose to relax or venture out, youre set for an unforgettable experience in this remarkable city. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Stockholm
Today, well explore the fascinating city of Stockholm with a panoramic tour. This vibrant capital, gracefully spread across 14 interconnected islands, offers a unique blend of history and modernity. We will wander through Gamla Stan, the bustling old quarter often called "the city between bridges". Here, you'll find the majestic Royal Palace and the Cathedral, as well as the Nobel Prize Museum, situated near Stortorget Square, a tribute to Nobel laureates. Whenever conditions allow, we'll pause to admire the breathtaking perspectives from the Fjllgatan viewpoint, renowned for its sweeping views of the city. In the afternoon, you are free to explore further. We suggest visiting Stockholm's myriad of museums and lush parks. Alternatively, you might choose to view the City Hall or discover the maritime heritage at the Vasa Museum.
Day 3 - Stockholm - Stockholm - Turku Ferry
Today is yours to explore the vibrant city of Stockholm at your own pace. Whether you're intrigued by its rich history, modern attractions, or simply wish to wander its charming streets, there is no shortage of activities to fill your day. In the evening, we'll embark on a comfortable ferry for our overnight journey to Finland. You'll stay in a double en-suite cabin, providing a cosy retreat as we sail through Scandinavian waters.
Day 4 - Stockholm - Turku Ferry - Naantali - Helsinki
Our journey begins today as we disembark the ferry in Finland. Rise early if you wish and head to the deck for a breathtaking sunrise, capturing the enchanting vistas as we pass by the land Islands, an archipelago of lush, forested isles. Once ashore, we'll spend some time exploring Turku, a city rich in Swedish heritage. Our next stop is Naantali, a delightful seaside town adorned with charming wooden houses. We then proceed to Helsinki, where we'll arrive around lunchtime. The afternoon is yours to discover this vibrant city, famed for its bustling markets, churches, and striking Russian-influenced architecture.
Day 5 - Helsinki - Helsinki - Tallinn Ferry - Tallinn
Today, well set sail on a boat journey to the Suomenlinna Islands, an impressive ensemble of six islands featuring a formidable fortress and designated as a World Heritage Site. This historical site once served to guard Helsinki's entrance and remains a marvellous testament to the past. You'll have time to stroll across the islands via footbridges and take in the captivating surroundings. In the afternoon, our travels continue as we board a ferry bound for Estonia, a scenic crossing that lasts approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. As we depart from Helsinki, enjoy panoramic vistas of the nearby islands. Well arrive in Tallinn in the evening, ready to explore the charming Estonian capital.
Day 6 - Tallinn
Today, we explore Tallinn, the captivating capital of Estonia, renowned for its remarkably preserved medieval charm. We'll embark on a panoramic tour, taking in the citys ancient walls, historic churches, bustling squares, and cobblestone streets, each steeped in history and filled with fascinating attractions. In the afternoon, you'll have the opportunity to delve deeper into this enchanting city at your own pace, perhaps visiting a museum or enjoying a quiet moment at a local caf. The day promises a delightful blend of exploration and leisure amidst one of Europe's most picturesque cityscapes.
Day 7 - Tallinn - Parnu - Turaida - Sigulda - Salaspils - Riga
Today, we journey through scenic forests and open plains to reach Parnu, Estonia's beloved seaside resort. After some time here, we continue into Latvia, where you'll enjoy an included lunch capturing local flavours before we explore the medieval charm of Turaida Castle. Nestled in a picturesque park adorned with sculptures, the castle provides a window into the past. Following this, you may wish to stroll through Sigulda, a quaint town set against a backdrop of stunning landscapes. Our travels take us further towards Riga, with a poignant stop at the Salaspils Memorial. This site, located at a former Nazi concentration camp, stands as one of Europe's largest commemorations of the regime's victims since 1967. We arrive in the vibrant city of Riga by evening, offering a rich tapestry of experiences.
Day 8 - Riga
In Riga, we will embark on a captivating panoramic tour of Latvia's vibrant capital, the largest city in the Baltic region. You will witness the fascinating contrasts of a city where remnants of the Soviet era coalesce with the charm of a captivating cultural centre. The medieval Historic Centre, alongside the exquisite Art Nouveau architecture, encapsulates Rigas unique allure. The afternoon is at your disposal to explore this intriguing city further at your own pace, allowing you to delve into its rich history or perhaps enjoy the lively atmosphere of its streets and cafs.
Day 9 - Riga - Rundale - Vilnius
We'll set off early this morning as we journey towards Lithuania, with a stop at the magnificent Rundale Palace. This exquisite Baroque palace was designed by the same acclaimed architect responsible for St Petersburg's Hermitage Museum. After exploring the palace, we'll continue our journey across the border into Lithuania, where you'll find the deep Catholic roots of the country epitomised by the awe-inspiring Hill of Crosses, a powerful sight with thousands of crosses standing majestically. Along our route, lunch will be included. Later, we will explore Trakai a stunning castle set on an island, surrounded by serene lake waters near Vilnius. The day concludes in Vilnius; however, our visit to Trakai may be rescheduled to Wednesday, dependent on daylight duration.
Day 10 - Vilnius
Today, we'll embark on a panoramic tour of Vilnius, a city that, like Rome, is built on seven hills. You'll uncover its rich history as we explore its Baroque churches, historical walls, and the grand castle. The city centre is alive with bustling commercial streets and home to over 1,200 medieval houses, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past. In the afternoon, enjoy some free time to discover Vilnius at your own pace. Whether you choose to meander through the charming streets, delve into a local caf, or visit a museum, there's plenty to see and experience in this captivating city.
Day 11 - Vilnius - Grutas Park - Augustw - Warsaw
Today, we journey into Poland, starting with a visit to Grutas Park, known as "Stalins World." This intriguing park houses 86 statues from the Soviet era, offering a unique glimpse into history. Continuing onwards, we'll pause for lunch in the picturesque town of Augustw, nestled by the lakeside. After refreshing ourselves, we proceed towards central Poland, aiming to reach Warsaw by day's end.
Day 12 - Warsaw
Our day in Warsaw begins with an enriching panoramic tour led by a local guide. As Poland's political and economic heart, Warsaw is home to nearly two million residents and boasts an intriguing mix of modern architecture alongside beautifully restored historic buildings. Together, we'll explore the enchanting old town, where you'll encounter charming cobbled streets and the Royal Palace, both painstakingly reconstructed after World War II and now part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During our tour, we'll also see the Palace of Culture, a striking skyscraper gifted by the Soviet Union, and pause to reflect on the history of the largest Jewish ghetto in Europe. Additionally, we'll stroll through the serene Lazienki Park, where you can admire the Chopin Monument.Afterwards, the afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish. Consider visiting the city's excellent museums, such as the National Museum or the Warsaw Rising Museum, or perhaps explore the vibrant city centre, which offers a variety of shops and activities.
