Day 1 - Stockholm
Welcome to Stockholm! Upon your arrival, we'll arrange your transfer to the hotel, allowing you to settle in and have some leisure time to explore the surroundings at your own pace. In the afternoon, be sure to check the information boards at the hotel reception for important details about the beginning of your tour. This enchanting city, spread across 14 islands, offers a delightful mix of history, culture, and stunning waterways, setting the stage for an unforgettable adventure ahead. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Stockholm - Mora
Following breakfast, we'll embark on a guided tour of Stockholm, a breathtaking city spread across 14 islands, where the presence of water is truly captivating. Our exploration begins with a visit to Gamla Stan, the historic heart of the city known as the "City between the Bridges." This lively area hosts numerous monumental edifices, including the Nobel Museum adjacent to the Main Square or Stortorget, which honours Nobel Prize laureates; the Cathedral; and the Royal Palace. We'll also enjoy a panoramic view from the Fjllgatan viewpoint. The rest of your day is free to explore at your leisure. At approximately 16:00, we'll depart for the northwest of Sweden, passing through scenic landscapes of rolling hills, fertile farmlands, quaint towns, and serene lakes. We will arrive in Mora, a charming town nestled between two lakes, in the evening. This historically significant location is where Gustav I of Sweden rallied support against the Danish invasion in 1521.
Day 3 - Mora - Funsdalen - Roros - Trondheim
We'll set off early, embarking on our journey towards Norway through a captivating landscape of endless forests, tranquil lakes, and majestic mountains. Our first stop is Funsdalen, a well-loved ski resort, where well briefly pause to take in the scenery. As our adventure continues, we arrive in Rros, a town steeped in history and recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you will have time for lunch and the opportunity to explore the town's charming historic centre, renowned for its quaint miners' houses and museum dedicated to its rich mining heritage. Our exploration then leads us to Trondheim, positioned in Norways central coastal region. This city, the third largest in Norway, is steeped in a rich historical narrative stretching back to the Viking era, having served as the capital during the Middle Ages. Highlights of your visit include the impressive 11th-century cathedral and the picturesque old bridge over the canal. In the evening, you'll have a chance to experience Trondheim's lively nightlife or explore its variety of dining options.
Day 4 - Trondheim - Kristiansund - Atlantic Road - Molde
This morning, after exploring the vibrant centre of Trondheim, we will continue our adventure, taking in the awe-inspiring vistas of the Norwegian coastline and the sprawling fjords along the Norwegian Sea. Our journey today includes a ferry crossing of one of these striking fjords, which will bring us to the picturesque city of Kristiansund. Known for its natural beauty, Kristiansund is historically a thriving fishing hub and is uniquely spread across several islands linked by a series of bridges and embankments. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through its charming cobblestone streets and explore the local shops, restaurants, and cafes. You'll have time to savour a relaxed lunch here.In the afternoon, we will travel through captivating landscapes to visit the Kvernes Stave Church. This 14th-century architectural gem boasts remarkable features, including a 300-year-old ship model and altarpieces honouring the Virgin Mary admission is included with the tour. Our route then leads us along the famed Atlantic Road, celebrated as one of Norway's most spectacular oceanic drives. The road's eight bridges connect a series of islands, offering dramatic views where, at times, the ocean's power dramatically meets the coast. We'll pause at a viewpoint to fully appreciate this stunning scenery before continuing to Molde. Arriving by evening, we find ourselves in this vibrant town, which sits serenely along a fjord and frequently welcomes cruise ships.
Day 5 - Molde - Geiranger - Briksdalsbreen - Loen
Today promises a journey through some of Norway's most breathtaking landscapes, showcasing World Heritage Site fjords, glaciers, and charming towns. We begin with a ferry ride across the Romsdal Fjord, a 50-minute passage that offers stunning natural vistas. After crossing the fjord, we'll head into the snowy mountains, soon descending towards the picturesque Storfjorden for more awe-inspiring views. Another ferry journey, lasting 30 minutes, will give us views of snow-capped peaks as we make our way to the Eagle Viewpoint. From here, a spectacular panorama of the Geiranger Fjordacclaimed as one of Norway's most beautifulawaits. This fjord, part of the region listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned for its unparalleled natural beauty. You'll have some free time to explore Geiranger at your own pace. You might want to consider a leisurely boat ride along the fjord, a walk along the waterfalls cascading into the town, or simply relax in the quaint village setting.After lunch, we'll continue our journey, travelling through landscapes of soaring mountains and tranquil fjords. Our next highlight is Briksdalsbreen, an impressive glacier located in a stunning natural setting. Here, you'll have the opportunity to hike from the base to the glacier, with the option to travel on foot or by electric vehicle. After completing our visit, we'll wrap up the day with dinner, followed by an overnight stay in Loen, a picturesque town set alongside the fjord. In Loen, if you're up for more adventure, you can take a cable car rideone of the steepest in the worldthat ascends from the fjord to over 1,000 metres above sea level.
Day 6 - Loen - Bergen
Today, we embark on our journey from Loen to Bergen, covering nearly 300 kilometres of Norway's breathtaking landscapes. Our scenic route takes us along the fjords, traversing mountainous terrain and involving a picturesque ferry crossing. By lunchtime, we will arrive in Bergen, where we've arranged for a delightful cable car ride up Mount Flyen, offering spectacular views over the city. Bergen, Norway's second-largest city, is known for its storied past, vibrant cultural scene, and stunning natural surroundings. In the afternoon, you have free time to explore BryggenBergen's historic dock district with its iconic, brightly coloured wooden buildings that form part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you're inclined, perhaps visit the Bergen Aquarium or wander through the bustling fish market, sampling local delicacies from the small restaurants that line the area.
Day 7 - Bergen - Eidfjord - Voringfossen - Geilo - Oslo
We will depart Bergen early, setting off for the heart of Norway. Our journey begins with a magnificent drive over the impressive suspension bridge spanning the Hardanger Fjord, a highlight of Norwegian scenic beauty. Our first stop is Eidfjord, a delightful town nestled on the fjord's edge. From here, we continue to Vringsfossen, widely regarded as Norway's most spectacular waterfall, with its breathtaking 182-metre drop. Here, we will explore the viewpoints and bridges that offer stunning panoramas of the cascading waters.Our travels will then lead us through stunning landscapes of cold, desolate high plateaus, punctuated by small lakes that remain frozen for much of the year, and snowfields that revive the spirit of exploration. We will stop in Geilo, a popular ski resort town, to enjoy lunch amid its charming alpine atmosphere. After lunch, we proceed towards Oslo, aiming to arrive by evening.Once in Oslo, you are encouraged to dive into the vibrant city life. Discover the historic harbour, take a leisurely stroll, or head up to the rooftop terrace of the sleek, modern Opera House for unique views of the city. This is a perfect opportunity to absorb the culture and charm of Norways energetic capital.
Day 8 - Oslo - Oslo - Copenhagen Ferry
In the morning, we'll embark on a panoramic tour of Oslo, exploring Norways capital, renowned for its blend of natural beauty and urban charm. Our local guide will introduce us to key sights, including the Royal Palace, Frogner Park with its remarkable sculptures, and the exterior of Oslo Town Hall. We'll also take in views of the historic port and the modern Opera House. Following the tour, you'll have free time to delve deeper into the cityperhaps visit one of its acclaimed museums. Post-lunch, we'll board a modern night ferry to Denmark. This vessel, equipped like a cruise ship, will carry us across the sea as we settle into our cabins for the night, with breakfast included in the morning. Do note, the ferry is set to depart at 3:00 p.m. with boarding starting at 2:00 p.m., and is due to arrive in Copenhagen at 10:00 a.m. Please be aware that ferry schedules are subject to change.
Day 9 - Oslo - Copenhagen Ferry - Copenhagen
Upon arriving in Copenhagen in the morning, we'll embark on a panoramic tour led by a local guide to explore the Danish capital. Renowned for its excellent quality of life, Copenhagen is a city dedicated to sustainability and steeped in cultural heritage. Our tour will include visits to iconic sites such as The Little Mermaid statue, a stroll through the picturesque Nyhavn Harbour with its colourful historic buildings, and a view of the Amalienborg Palace, the residence of the Danish royal family. We'll also explore City Hall Square and the area around Tivoli Gardens. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy at your leisure, allowing you time to delve deeper into Copenhagen's unique offerings.
Day 10 - Copenhagen - Rostock - Szczecin
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, our adventure takes us to Gedser, a quaint town marking Scandinavia's southernmost tip. By 11:00 a.m., we'll embark on a modern ferry for a two-hour voyage across the Baltic Sea to Germany. We suggest you savour lunch on board as we make this delightful crossing. On reaching Rostock, you'll have free time to discover the city, known for hosting Germany's largest Baltic port. Explore its vibrant old town, where landmarks such as the Market Square, City Hall, and St. Marys Church await. Our journey continues as we travel through the picturesque Pomerania region and cross into Poland. By evening, we arrive in Szczecin, a historic university city nestled on the Oder River's banks. Here, you'll have the opportunity to meander through its charming historic centre, home to the Pomeranian Dukes Castle and scenic riverside terraces, immersing yourself in the rich atmosphere of this delightful locale.
Day 11 - Szczecin - Bydgoszcz - Torun - Warsaw
Following breakfast, we journey through the tranquil regions of western Poland, once part of Germany until after World War II. Our first destination is Bydgoszcz, a historic city where you can take a leisurely walk and enjoy its stunning architecture, picturesque parks, and network of canals connecting the Vistula and Oder Rivers. You'll have time for lunch before we continue.Our travels then take us to Toru?, a beautifully preserved Gothic city, complete with ancient walls and a historic centre renowned as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This city is also the birthplace of Copernicus. Youll have the opportunity to explore its charming streets, and those interested can visit the museum situated in Copernicus former home. Later, we proceed to Warsaw, Polands vibrant capital, with an anticipated arrival by the evening.
Day 12 - Warsaw
We begin the day in Warsaw with an engaging panoramic tour led by a local guide. As Poland's political and economic centre, Warsaw is a city where contemporary architecture meets meticulously restored historical landmarks. Our journey takes us through the charming old town, where you'll find cobbled streets and historic buildings that have been painstakingly rebuilt following their wartime destructionnow recognised as a World Heritage Site. We'll explore the Royal Palace and stroll past the Palace of Culture, a towering gift from the Soviet Union. Pause for reflection at the site of the former Jewish ghetto, once the largest in Europe, and take in the natural beauty of ?azienki Park, home to the iconic Chopin Monument. The afternoon is yours to discover Warsaw at your own pace. Perhaps visit the city's museums, like the National Museum or the Warsaw Rising Museum, or simply enjoy the vibrant city centre with its diverse shops and activities.
Day 13 - Warsaw
