Itinerary
Day 1 - Colombo - Kandy
Arrive at Colombo International Airport where our representative will welcome you before transferring you to Kandy. Settle into your hotel and enjoy dinner on site. Please note that during religious holidays, alcohol will not be served in public areas of hotels and restaurants. Overnight stay in Kandy.
Day 2 - Kandy - Peradeniya - Kandy
After breakfast, we transfer from Kandy to Peradeniya to visit the Royal Botanical Gardens. Originally developed as a royal pleasure garden and later enhanced by the British, these 147 acres of beautifully maintained lawns, pavilions and an octagonal conservatory offer a refreshing experience. Highlights include the orchid house and the giant Javan fig tree. A cafeteria near the entrance provides a convenient spot for refreshments before exploring further. We then return to Kandy to visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a significant site in Sri Lankas Buddhist heritage. Afterwards, take a leisurely walk through Kandy town, nestled among misty hills, where you can explore the modern Kandy City Centre, a bustling bazaar, an arts and crafts centre, and a gem museum. The vibrant local market offers a colourful display of fresh produce. In the evening, we enjoy a traditional cultural show featuring music and drumming that reflects the rich heritage of the region. Dinner is served at the hotel before overnight stay in Kandy.
Day 3 - Kandy - Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast, we transfer from Kandy to a tea plantation, where you will visit a factory producing the renowned Ceylon Tea. Witness the traditional processing methods still in use today and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of pure Ceylon Tea. From there, we continue to Nuwara Eliya, a hill station often called the city of light due to its colonial heritage and cool climate. Once home to English and Scottish planters, the town features charming colonial bungalows, hedgerows and one of the worlds finest 18-hole golf courses. You will have the chance to take a stroll through the lush green countryside, passing red-brick walls and tea pickers in colourful saris. Dinner is served at the hotel, where you will stay overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 4 - Nuwara Eliya - Tissamaharama
After breakfast, we transfer from Nuwara Eliya to Tissamaharama. En route, we enter Yala National Park, the countrys most visited wildlife reserve and a region rich in history from ancient Sri Lankan kingdoms. As your jeep navigates rugged tracks and narrow bends, youll encounter a diverse array of wildlife including herds of elephants, sloth bears, spotted deer, jackals, and a vast variety of bird species. Yala is renowned for having the highest density of leopards in the world, making this an exhilarating safari experience under the tropical sun. After the safari, we continue to Tissamaharama for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Day 5 - Tissamaharama - Galle - Hikkaduwa - Bentota - Ahungalla
After breakfast, we transfer from Tissamaharama to Galle. Here, you will explore the historic Dutch Fort, where European architecture blends seamlessly with South Asian influences. Stroll along the original ramparts and bastions, preserved for over three and a half centuries, and take in landmarks such as the old gate adorned with the British coat of arms, the Zwart Bastionthe oldest in the fortand the 18-foot lighthouse beside Point Utrecht Bastion. The forts streets follow a rectangular grid, lined with houses featuring classic Dutch colonial verandas. We visit the Dutch Hospital Shopping Complex, offering a variety of souvenirs and a glimpse into the forts lively community, which still functions with administrative offices, courts, churches and local residents. Afterwards, we continue to your next destination in Hikkaduwa, Bentota or Ahungalla for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Day 6 - Hikkaduwa - Bentota - Ahungalla - Colombo
After breakfast, we transfer from Hikkaduwa, Bentota or Ahungalla to Colombo for a city tour. Colombo is Sri Lankas largest city and administrative capital, blending modern vibrancy with colonial heritage. Its strategic port has made it a key hub connecting East and West for over two millennia. During the tour, we visit a variety of historical, religious and commercial sites including the bustling Pettah market, the upscale Cinnamon Gardens neighbourhood, Galle Face Green, Viharamahadevi Park and Gangarama Temple. You will also see the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall and Nelum Pokuna Theatre. There is an opportunity to relax with a chilled beer at the Dutch Hospital precinct, known for its stylish shops and eateries (own expense). We return to the hotel for dinner and overnight in Colombo.
Day 7 - Colombo
After breakfast at the hotel, we transfer you from Colombo to the airport for your onward travel arrangements.

'Shared' prices are for solo travellers who are happy to share with another solo traveller of the same sex in a twin room - a single room will be provided at no additional cost if there are no suitable travellers to share with.
