This site is believed to be Sri Lankas first hospital built by Western rulers and is considered one of the oldest functioning hospitals in the world. You will see Dutch-style architecture, including a church, original buildings, historic medical equipment, and even an antique washing machine still in working order. After the museum visit, we return to Negombo to explore a local fish market, offering insight into the daily life and trade of this coastal town. The day concludes with a relaxing lagoon excursion in the evening, providing a peaceful way to experience Negombos natural surroundings. Overnight in Negombo.
Day 3 - Negombo - Peradeniya - Kandy

Originally developed as a royal pleasure garden and later refined by the British, these gardens cover 147 acres just four miles from Kandy. You will stroll through well-maintained lawns, pavilions, and an octagonal conservatory, encountering highlights such as the orchid house and a giant Javan fig tree. A cafeteria near the entrance offers a convenient stop before exploring the grounds. From Peradeniya, we continue to Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka before British rule in 1815 and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, we visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a significant cultural and religious landmark. You can then enjoy a walk around the charming lakeside town, visiting the Kandy City Centre with its shops and arts and crafts centre, the bustling local market, and the gem museum. The day concludes with a traditional cultural show featuring music and drumming, offering insight into Sri Lankas rich heritage. Overnight in Kandy.

After breakfast at Earls Regency, we transfer from Kandy to the Knuckles Mountain Range for a day of exploration. This mist-covered range, named for its resemblance to a clenched fist, spans the Matale and Kandy districts and is home to a variety of endemic flora and fauna. It is a popular destination for hikers seeking tranquillity and natural beauty. We will take in spectacular views from cliff edges overlooking dense forests, tea plantations, terraced paddy fields and waterfalls.
