Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival at the airport, we will ensure your smooth transfer to the hotel. You'll have some free time to relax or explore before our tour officially begins. Please check the information signs in the hotel's reception area for details about the welcome meeting where youll meet your guide and fellow travellers. In the evening, we'll transport you to the lively Plaza Mayor and the charming La Latina district, renowned for its nightlife and vibrant selection of tapas restaurants. You can choose where to dine, with options including Indian, Chinese, Spanish, and Middle Eastern cuisines available to suit your taste. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
On our second day in Madrid, well start the morning with an in-depth exploration of the citys vibrant heart. Our journey through central Madrid will feature visits to iconic landmarks such as Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and Plaza Mayor. Following this tour, well make our way to Retiro Park, a serene retreat nestled within the bustling city, where youll see the lake and the stunning Palacio de Cristal. Entry to the illustrious Santiago Bernabu Stadium, the legendary home of Real Madrid, is included. Considered by many as one of the worlds finest football clubs, this visit offers an exciting insight into its storied legacy. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisure, allowing for personal exploration or relaxation. In the evening, well provide a convenient return transfer to the hotel, ensuring a restful night ahead.
Day 3 - Madrid - Granada
We set off from Madrid early in the morning, journeying south through the storied region of La Mancha. Our first pause is in Puerto Lpice, a quaint Manchego village redolent of the tales of Don Quixote. Continuing our travels, we press on into Andalusia via the scenic Despeaperros gorge. Upon arrival in Granada, enjoy a lunch that we have arranged for you. In the afternoon, there is an opportunity to visit the Alhambra, provided you have selected this option. This magnificent palace and its enchanting Generalife Gardens reflect the grandeur of the Arab period in Spain, and a local guide will enrich your visit with historical insights. It's important to note that access to the Alhambra is strictly regulated, and tickets are arranged at the time of booking. Ensure you provide accurate personal details, as tickets are non-refundable in the event of cancellation. If visiting the Alhambra is not possible, we will alternatively explore the Royal Alczar of Seville, which offers similar historical and architectural marvels.
Day 4 - Granada - Malaga - Marbella - Ronda - Seville
We leave Granada behind as we journey towards the beautiful Costa del Sol. Our first stop is Malaga, where youll have time to wander through its historic district, home to the impressive cathedral and the renowned Picasso Museum. Continuing along the coastal highway, well enjoy the stunning views of the Mediterranean. Well then visit Puerto Bans in Marbella, a sophisticated recreational harbour renowned for its chic atmosphere. In the afternoon, our journey takes us through the mountains, where we'll hear tales of local bandits before arriving at the charming white town of Ronda. Known for its dramatic cliffs and historic bridge spanning a deep canyon, Ronda offers striking views and a fascinating visit. We reach Seville in the evening, where dinner will be served at your hotel.
Day 5 - Seville
Today, we explore the vibrant city of Seville. Our morning begins with a guided tour where you'll discover some of the city's most iconic landmarks, including the majestic cathedral and its famous Giralda tower. We'll wander along the banks of the Guadalquivir River and weave through the charming streets of Santa Cruz and Trianatwo of Seville's most beloved neighbourhoods. After soaking in the architectural and cultural delights, we invite you to relax and enjoy an included serene boat ride on the Guadalquivir River, offering stunning panoramic views of the city. As evening falls, consider attending an optional flamenco tablao performancea quintessential Andalusian experience that brings together passionate dance and rhythmic music.
Day 6 - Seville - Merida - Evora - Lisbon
We will depart Seville, journeying through the picturesque landscapes of rolling hills and expansive pastures as we head into Extremadura. Our first stop is Mrida, where we invite you to explore the Archaeological Ensemble of Mrida. This remarkable site, featuring a Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre, is lauded for its exceptional state of preservation and its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Youll have time to enjoy lunch and wander through the lively historic centre, brimming with charming pedestrian streets and local dining options. Our journey continues as we cross into Portugal, where we'll visit vora, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. This city captivates with its whitewashed streets, Renaissance palaces, and iconic cathedral. We will arrive in Lisbon in the evening, ready to embrace the citys vibrant atmosphere.
Day 7 - Lisbon
On the seventh day, we invite you to discover the enchanting city of Lisbon. Our morning starts with a guided tour of Portugals capital, renowned for its seven hills, charming alleyways, iconic azulejos tiles, and a unique sense of "saudade" infused with the city's beautiful Atlantic light. We will visit the historic Belem neighbourhood, a vital maritime hub from where extraordinary Portuguese navigators once set sail to explore new worlds in the 15th century. After our morning explorations, the afternoon is yours to enjoy. You might choose to wander through the vibrant Bairro Alto, famous for its stunning views over the city, or opt for an excursion to the picturesque towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. In the evening, we return from the lively Restauradores Square, filled with an array of bustling bars and cafs, ensuring a delightful close to your day.
Day 8 - Lisbon - Fatima - Porto
We set off for northern Portugal, beginning our day with a visit to Ftima, one of the world's most significant pilgrimage destinations. Afterwards, we continue our journey to Porto, Portugal's vibrant second-largest city. Here, lunch provides a delightful break before we embark on a 50-minute cruise along the Douro River. Aboard a traditional Portuguese "Rabelo" boat, we enjoy unique views of Porto's picturesque riverside. The afternoon offers free time for you to explore the lively Ribeira district, famous for its narrow streets and historic merchant houses. This charming area, lined with inviting cafs, immerses you in Porto's rich cultural atmosphere before we retire to our hotel for the evening.
Day 9 - Porto - Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary - Cambados - Santiago de Compostela
Today, our adventure takes us through some truly picturesque landscapes. We start in Braga, where we'll ascend to the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus using the world's oldest water-operated cable caran experience in itself. The sanctuary offers breathtaking views, and after having a look around, you might opt to descend via the beautiful staircase.Next, we journey into Galicia, stopping in the historic town of Cambados, located in the Ras Baixas region. Here, we'll embark on a glass-bottom boat trip along the Ra de Arousa, which offers insights into the region's proud tradition of mussel and oyster farming. Enjoy a tasting session of wine and mussels onboard as you take in the sights. By lunchtime, we'll arrive in Santiago de Compostela, where a local guide will lead us on a tour through its medieval streets and famous pilgrimage sites, rich in history since the Middle Ages.
Day 10 - Santiago de Compostela - Lugo - O Cebreiro - Leon - Oviedo
Today, we'll embark on a journey along the historic Way of St. James, starting in the ancient town of Lugo. Here, you'll have the opportunity to explore its beautifully preserved Roman walls a UNESCO World Heritage Site and wander through the historic town centre. Our next stop is O Cebreiro, a quaint Galician village known for its distinctive stone architecture. Continuing our adventure, we'll arrive in Len around lunchtime. While in Len, we'll visit the stunning Gothic cathedral, celebrated for its remarkable stained-glass windows, and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the historic centre.As we proceed towards Asturias, we'll cross the scenic Cantabrian Range, arriving in Oviedo by the evening. We'll end our day with a guided city tour either upon arrival or the following morning, exploring Oviedo's cultural gems, including the 9th-century cathedral, the modern Calatrava Congressional Palace, Campoamor Theatre, and the bustling Calle de la Rua. To round off the day, a traditional Asturian dinner awaits in a classic cider house, offering you a taste of the region's culinary delights.
Day 11 - Oviedo - Covadonga - Santillana del Mar - Santander
We begin our journey today by travelling to the awe-inspiring Picos de Europa, where our first stop will be the Basilica of Covadonga. Nestled in the heart of the mountains, this site is steeped in history and offers spectacular views. Following this, we'll move along the beautiful coastline to reach Santillana, often hailed as one of the most picturesque towns in Spain, thanks to its impeccably preserved medieval quarter. Nearby, we'll visit the Altamira Cave Museum, where entrance is included it offers fascinating insights into prehistoric art. Our day continues as we make our way to Santander, the region's vibrant capital, where we will be treated to breathtaking vistas of both mountains and sea. Here, a panoramic tour with a local guide will reveal the charms of this sophisticated coastal city and its stunning bay.
Day 12 - Santander - Bilbao - Foronda Service Area - La Rioja - Zaragoza
Today, we'll journey along the scenic Cantabrian coastline to Bilbao, the bustling centre of Spain's Basque Country. Upon arrival, we'll enjoy a guided tour, discovering key sites such as the Guggenheim Museum area, the historic old quarter, and the impressive Cathedral. This morning, we will embark on a panoramic tour of Barcelona, one of Europe's most captivating capitals. Nestled along the Mediterranean, Barcelona is celebrated for its stunning modernist architecture by Antoni Gaud, the vibrant energy of Las Ramblas, and its rich historical significance, as evidenced by events like the Universal Exposition and the Olympic Games. After the tour, you'll have free time in the afternoon to explore the city's delights at your own pace.
