Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! When you arrive at the airport, well promptly transfer you to your hotel. You'll have some leisure time before the tour officially kicks off. Be sure to check the information signs in the hotel reception for the details about the welcome meeting with your guide and your fellow travellers. As the day winds down, well whisk you away to Plaza Mayor and La Latina Madrids renowned spots for nightlife and tapas. For dinner, feel free to select from a variety of restaurants, offering cuisines ranging from Indian, Chinese, and Spanish to Middle Eastern. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
On the second day of our adventure in Madrid, we will kick off with an extensive tour of the city centre, showcasing its iconic landmarks. We'll explore the elegant Paseo del Prado, marvel at the grandeur of Cibeles and Neptuno, and pass through the historic Puerta de Alcal. As we continue, we'll stop at Plaza de Coln and visit the lively Plaza Mayor.Our journey will then take us to the beautiful Retiro Park, a serene retreat in the middle of the bustling city. Here, we'll stroll by the lake and admire the magnificent Palacio de Cristal. We are pleased to include admission to the legendary Santiago Bernabu Stadium, the home ground of Real Madrid, hailed by many as the worlds premier football club. You will have the afternoon free for your personal exploration or relaxation.As evening approaches, we will organise your return transfer to the hotel, leaving you to reflect on the day's discoveries.
Day 3 - Madrid - Granada
Today, we'll be travelling to Granada, a city steeped in history and renowned for its enchanting landscapes. This full day is yours to explore the myriad charms of this captivating place. We highly recommend a visit to the magnificent Alhambra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its stunning Islamic architecture and breathtaking gardens. Although the tour does not include admission to the Alhambra, you can arrange tickets in advance through their official website. Alternatively, consider visiting the grand Granada Cathedral, where the Catholic Monarchs are entombed. Another option is a stroll through the Albaicn, the old Moorish quarter, where from the viewpoint of San Nicols, you'll be treated to splendid vistas of the Alhambra, framed by the Sierra Nevada mountains. Please be reminded that any entrance fees or optional activities are to be arranged independently. Enjoy the day immersing yourself in the vibrant culture and history of Granada.
Day 4 - Granada - Malaga - Marbella - Ronda - Seville
Today, we leave Granada behind and make our way towards the sun-drenched Costa del Sol. Our first stop is Malaga, where we'll have the opportunity to explore its historic district, renowned for its striking cathedral and the Picasso Museum. After some time here, we'll continue along the scenic coastal highway, admiring stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea.Our journey then takes us to Puerto Bans in Marbella, known for its elegant marina filled with luxury yachts and its upscale atmosphere. In the afternoon, we venture inland, traversing the mountains, where we'll hear captivating tales of bandits that once roamed these parts. Our destination is Ronda, an enchanting white town precariously perched on a cliffside, split by a deep and dramatic gorge.In the evening, we reach Seville, where we'll settle in and enjoy an included dinner at our hotel. This marks a delightful end to a day filled with diverse landscapes and unique experiences.
Day 5 - Seville
On the fifth day, we embark on an exploration of Seville, a city brimming with history and vibrant culture. Our morning begins with a guided tour of Sevilles majestic cathedral, home to the renowned Giralda bell tower. We continue our journey along the picturesque banks of the Guadalquivir River, soaking up the local atmosphere as we traverse the lively neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana. Following the tour, we offer you a chance to unwind with a delightful boat excursion along the Guadalquivir River, providing sweeping views of the city's skyline. In the evening, consider the option of immersing yourself in a traditional flamenco performance at a local tablao, experiencing the passionate rhythms of this iconic Spanish dance.
Day 6 - Seville - Merida - Evora - Lisbon
We will depart from Seville, enjoying the scenic views of rolling hills and vast pastures as we journey towards Extremadura. In Mrida, we'll explore the Archaeological Ensemble, which includes the remarkable Roman Theatre and Amphitheatreboth wonderfully preserved and celebrated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you'll have time to savour lunch and wander through the vibrant, pedestrian-friendly historic centre, teeming with delightful eateries and local charm. Our journey continues as we cross into Portugal, stopping in vora, another town recognised as a World Heritage Site. Known for its streets lined with whitewashed houses, Renaissance palaces, and a magnificent cathedral, vora offers an enchanting glimpse into its rich history and culture. We will arrive in Lisbon by evening, ready for new adventures.
Day 7 - Lisbon
Today, we'll explore the vibrant city of Lisbon, the captivating Portuguese capital known for its scenic hills, quaint alleyways, and iconic tiles. Our morning will be spent on a sightseeing tour, delving into the rich history and culture of this city. We will also visit the historic Belm neighbourhood, a significant departure point for Portuguese explorers during the Age of Discovery in the 15th century. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure you might like to visit Bairro Alto for its stunning viewpoints. Alternatively, consider an optional visit to the picturesque towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. Come evening, we'll regroup in the lively Restauradores Square, bustling with bars and cafs, before returning to the hotel.
Day 8 - Lisbon - Fatima - Porto
Today, we'll make our way north into Portugal, beginning with a stop at the renowned pilgrimage site of Ftima. Here, you can explore the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ftima, a place of deep spiritual significance for millions around the world. Continuing our journey, well arrive in Porto, Portugals second-largest city, where after lunch, we can enjoy a 50-minute cruise along the Douro River aboard a traditional "Rabelo" boat. This offers an exceptional vantage point to admire the citys picturesque riverside. Afterwards, you'll have time to wander through the lively medieval Ribeira district at your own pace, where you'll find narrow, winding streets lined with historic merchant houses and cosy cafs. We'll then head to the hotel for the evening.
Day 9 - Porto - Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary - Cambados - Santiago de Compostela
Today, we set off through beautiful landscapes, beginning with a visit to Braga. Here, we'll take a trip on the world's oldest water-powered funicular to reach the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus, where magnificent views await. After a visit to the sanctuary, we suggest descending via its scenic staircase. Our adventure continues as we journey into Galicia, stopping at the historic town of Cambados in the Ras Baixas. In Cambados, we'll board a glass-bottom boat for a trip along the Ra de Arousa, where we'll learn about mussel and oyster farming. Our excursion includes onboard tastings of local wine and mussels. By lunchtime, we'll arrive in Santiago de Compostela for a guided tour through its medieval streets and famed pilgrimage sites, offering a glimpse into history dating back to the Middle Ages.
Day 10 - Santiago de Compostela - Lugo - O Cebreiro - Leon - Oviedo
Today, our journey takes us along the historic Way of St. James, starting with a visit to Lugo. Here, you'll have the chance to explore the town's medieval centre and admire its impressive Roman walls, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our next destination is O Cebreiro, a picturesque Galician village renowned for its charming stone architecture. As we continue to Len, we'll arrive just in time for lunch. In Len, well visit the stunning Gothic cathedral, celebrated for its exquisite stained-glass windows, and take a leisurely walk through the charming historic centre. Our route then takes us across the Cantabrian Mountains towards Asturias, reaching Oviedo by evening. In Oviedo, we'll enjoy a guided tour of the city, showcasing the 9th-century cathedral, the striking Calatrava Congressional Palace, the Campoamor Theatre, and the vibrant Calle de la Rua. We'll round off the day with a delightful traditional Asturian dinner in a local cider house.
Day 11 - Oviedo - Covadonga - Santillana del Mar - Santander
Today, we explore the stunning landscapes of the Picos de Europa, beginning with a visit to the Basilica of Covadonga, a significant site set amidst the mountains. Following this, we'll trace the coastline to Santillana del Mar, renowned for its picturesque medieval quarter that remains beautifully preserved. Nearby, the Altamira Cave Museum awaits us, offering fascinating insights into the prehistoric era with tickets provided. Our day draws to a close in Santander, the capital of Cantabria, where the dramatic convergence of mountains and sea offers breathtaking vistas. We will enjoy a guided panoramic tour, unveiling the city's elegance and charm along its scenic bay.
Day 12 - Santander - Bilbao - Foronda Service Area - La Rioja - Zaragoza
We journey along the Cantabrian coast, where the rugged mountains meet the shimmering sea, offering breathtaking vistas. Arriving in Bilbao, the bustling heart of the Basque Country, we embark on a guided tour, uncovering gems such as the iconic Guggenheim area, the charming old quarter, and the impressive Cathedral. Afterwards, youll have time to indulge in the local culinary delights of pintxos. As we continue our journey, we head into the renowned wine region of La Rioja. Here, we explore the Wine Culture Museum in Briones, which offers a fascinating glimpse into the time-honoured art of winemaking. Our day concludes as we arrive in Zaragoza by evening.
Day 13 - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
Today, we begin our day in Zaragoza with a panoramic tour led by a knowledgeable local guide. Our first visit is to the magnificent Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. Well immerse ourselves in the works of the renowned artist Goya, discovering some of his masterpieces. The tour will continue with the Roman theatre and a Renaissance palace, before taking a leisurely stroll by the Aljafera Palace.After enjoying lunch, we will journey into the picturesque region of Catalonia to explore the impressive Poblet Abbey. This well-preserved medieval monastery, set amidst stunning scenery, is an extraordinary testament to the architectural brilliance of the time, and entrance is included. Later in the day, we will proceed to the vibrant city of Barcelona, arriving in the evening.
Day 14 - Barcelona
In the morning, we'll set out on a panoramic tour of Barcelona, a city acclaimed as one of Europe's most captivating capitals. Nestled by the Mediterranean, Barcelona is celebrated for its rich history, which includes the Universal Exposition and the Olympics, as well as its vibrant modernist architecture epitomised by Gaud. You will have the afternoon free to explore the city's attractions at your own pace. In the evening, well provide a transfer to Maremagnum, a contemporary complex by the sea near Plaza de Coln, known for its lively atmosphere and diverse dining options. Here, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll and select from a variety of eateries to suit your taste.
Day 15 - Barcelona - Peniscola - Valencia - Madrid
On day 15, we'll head south along the Mediterranean coast, stopping first at the charming seaside town of Pescola. This picturesque walled town, set against striking coastal landscapes, invites you to explore its narrow streets and enjoy its scenic views. After this refreshing stop, we'll continue our journey to Valencia, a lively port city nestled on the Levantine coast. Arriving around lunchtime, you'll have the opportunity to savour the renowned local dish, paella, amongst other culinary delights. By late afternoon, around 04:30 p.m., well resume our journey towards Madrid. Before leaving Valencia, well make a brief visit to the City of Arts and Sciences, marveling at its modern architectural wonders. Our travel back to Madrid is anticipated to conclude between 08:30 and 09:00 p.m. Please note that depending on the group size, we might travel back to Madrid via high-speed train.
Day 16 - Madrid
Following breakfast, our tour concludes, leaving you with cherished memories of your journey.
