Day 1 - Barcelona
Welcome to Barcelona! Upon your arrival, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel. Once you've checked in, you'll have some free time to unwind and begin exploring this vibrant city on your own. In the afternoon, be sure to check the boards in the hotel reception for essential information about the start of your tour. This will help you ease into the journey ahead while you enjoy your first taste of Barcelona's unique atmosphere. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Barcelona
We will start our day immersed in the vibrant energy of Barcelona with a panoramic morning tour. This dynamic city, one of Europe's captivating capitals, awaits with its iconic blend of Gaud's innovative modernist architecture, including his whimsical yet stunning buildings, the lively atmosphere of Las Ramblas, and a rich historical tapestry that includes the legacy of the Universal Exposition and the Olympics. In the afternoon, youll have some free time to explore the city at your own pace, perhaps delving deeper into its cultural treasures or simply enjoying a leisurely stroll through its charming streets. As evening falls, we will conveniently transfer you to Maremagnum, a modern entertainment and dining venue located by the sea, close to the bustling Plaza de Coln. Here, you can enjoy a relaxed evening soaking up the vibrant nightlife, with plenty of dining options to satisfy your culinary curiosity.
Day 3 - Barcelona - Peniscola - Valencia
On the third day, we will journey south along the scenic Mediterranean coastline, pausing at the picturesque town of Peniscola. Renowned for its medieval fortress and serene beaches, Peniscola offers you the opportunity to wander its charming streets. Continuing onwards, we aim to arrive in Valencia around lunchtime. In the afternoon, a local guide will lead us on a tour of this historic port city, which boasts over 2,000 years of heritage. Valencia's urban landscape is a captivating mix of ancient monuments and cutting-edge structures, such as the City of Arts and Sciences. Following the tour, you'll have some free time to explore at your leisure before we gather for a traditional Valencian dinner, which is included in your evening plans.
Day 4 - Valencia - Alicante - Caravaca de la Cruz - Granada
Today we continue our journey to the enchanting city of Alicante. Here, we have the opportunity to take a leisurely stroll along its picturesque coastline, with time to soak in the coastal atmosphere before lunch. Afterwards, we'll travel to the Murcia region to visit Caravaca de la Cruz, a city recognised as holy by the Roman Catholic Church due to the relic of the Cross enshrined there. We include a fascinating ride on the tourist train, leading us through the historic area. Our adventure then takes us along scenic routes as we journey towards Andalusia, culminating the day in the vibrant city of Granada, where a delightful dinner awaits.
Day 5 - Granada
Today, we have the pleasure of spending the entire day in the captivating city of Granada. If your tour includes the tickets, we will explore the iconic Alhambra Palace along with the exquisite Generalife Gardens, both splendid examples of Islamic architecture from the Arab period. In the afternoon, you have free time to discover Granada at your own pace. Consider visiting the impressive cathedral, which is renowned for housing the tombs of the Catholic Monarchs. It's important to note that the number of visitors allowed into the Alhambra is strictly controlled by law. To secure your entry, please ensure your tour reservation includes the necessary tickets, and provide accurate personal information, including your full name and passport or identification number, at the time of booking. Remember that the cost of these tickets is non-refundable should you need to cancel. In instances when visiting the Alhambra is not feasible, we will instead arrange a visit to the Royal Alczar of Seville, offering a similarly rich historical and architectural experience.
Day 6 - Granada - Tangier - Asilah - Rabat
On the sixth day, we will depart from Granada, making our way through the scenic Costa del Sol towards either Algeciras or Tarifa. Here, we will board a modern ferry to cross the iconic Strait of Gibraltar (tickets included). Please bear in mind that the coach will not accompany us on this crossing, so you will be required to manage your own luggage. Upon reaching Morocco, we continue through captivating landscapes until we reach Asilah, a charming walled city on the Atlantic coast. This location, known in its past as both a historic port and a pirate refuge, now thrives with vibrant life. You will have time to enjoy lunch here before we proceed to Rabat. Upon arrival in Rabat, a delightful dinner awaits you.
Day 7 - Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakech
We begin our day in Rabat, where we'll embark on a panoramic tour of the city's highlights, including the impressive Royal Palace, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the formidable Kasbah of the Udayas. By midday, we'll set off for Casablanca, where a local guide will take us on a brief city tour. A highlight of this tour is the exterior view of the stunning Hassan II Mosque, one of the grandest mosques in the Arab world. Later, we'll continue our journey to the vibrant city of Marrakech. Upon arriving at our hotel, you can enjoy a traditional Kalesa ride leading to the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Dinner is included, providing a delightful taste of local cuisine to round off our day.
Day 8 - Marrakech
Today, we delve into the captivating city of Marrakech, a name synonymous with Morocco itself. Our guided tour takes us through the citys formidable ramparts to discover the lively Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the intricate Medina, the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, and the exquisite Bahia Palace your entrance is covered. Following the tour, we include lunch, allowing you to savour local flavours. The afternoon offers you the freedom to unwind by the pool or stroll through the hotel's gardens, or you might choose to wander through the vibrant souks, bustling with traditional stalls. Later, an optional evening awaits: indulge in the Fantasy Party, an entertaining cultural showcase of Moroccan music and dance.
Day 9 - Marrakech - Ait Benhadou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne Dades
We commence our journey today by traversing the Atlas Mountains, bidding farewell to the palm groves of Marrakech as the snow-capped peaks loom above. Along the way, you will encounter quaint Berber villages perched precariously along the edges of deep gorges. Our first stop is Ait Benhaddou, a fortified village celebrated for its cinematic appearances. In this landscape reminiscent of biblical times, we then proceed to Ouarzazate, known for its striking Kasbah. As we continue through the picturesque Valley of Roses, we reach Boumalne Dades just in time for dinner, which is included. Please note during winter, roads may be closed due to snow, so alternate arrangements will be made if necessary. Access to the Sahara Desert is similarly dependent on road conditions.
Day 10 - Boumalne Dades - Todgha - Erfoud
Our journey through the Sahara Desert commences as we travel through the Valley of the Kasbahs. This incredible landscape is dotted with river valleys adorned with thousands of palm trees, and rocky plains that seamlessly blend into verdant oases and adobe villages. We'll encounter formidable fortresses that have stood guard over ancient trade routes. Our itinerary includes a visit to the stunning Todgha Gorge, a magnificent canyon with imposing walls that soar over 100 metres on each side, painting a mesmerising picture of natural beauty.As we continue, we'll stop in a quaint adobe town near Khorbat. Here, you'll have the opportunity to learn more about the desert community supported by a local foundation (please note, access can be affected by weather conditions such as river flooding). Our journey then takes us towards Erfoud. For those who wish to enhance their experience, there's an optional off-road excursion available to explore the magnificent Sahara Desert sand dunes, offering a breathtaking sunset view. A lunch break is included to bolster our day of exploration.
Day 11 - Erfoud - Fez
We will set off early from Erfoud, embarking on a scenic journey across the Atlas Mountains, passing through dramatic gorges and striking landscapes. Our route takes us over an elevated, chilly plateau where nomadic shepherds often roam. A brief stop in Midelt, a quaint commercial town celebrated for its agricultural produce, provides an opportunity for a short rest. Continuing onwards, we will enjoy lunch, included in the tour, by a beautiful lake in the Middle Atlas amidst breathtaking natural surroundings. As we progress, you will notice a notable shift in scenery as we enter a forest-rich region, an area known for its snowy conditions in winter. Near Azrou, we'll stop at the "House of Cedars" within a national parka small museum offering insights into the local ecology. Here, you will also have the chance to observe the lively colonies of monkeys inhabiting the area. Our journey continues to the tranquil town of Bhalil, home to the Berbers of the Middle Atlas. This picturesque town is known for its colourful streets and historically cave-based homes now integrated into the houses. We'll arrive in Fez, taking in sweeping views of the ancient city from the vantage point of the Marinid Tombs before we make our way to the hotel. Dinner is included, allowing you to reflect on the day's captivating experiences.
Day 12 - Fez - Tangier
This day is dedicated to exploring Fez, a city steeped in history and culture. Our tour begins by entering through the majestic Bronze Gates of the Royal Palace, leading us into the Jewish quarter with its unique character and vibrant souks. We'll wander through the Tanners' Quarter, known for its traditional leather-making techniques. Fez is Morocco's cultural capital, offering an authentic glimpse into its Arab heritage, especially within the bustling Medina, famous for preserving a traditional atmosphere unparalleled elsewhere. We'll wrap up our visit with lunch at a historic palace nestled within the Medina's heart. In the afternoon, we embark on a journey northward on a modern highway, capturing the diverse Moroccan landscape as we head towards Tangier, where we'll arrive by evening. Dinner will be provided upon our arrival.
Day 13 - Tangier - Seville
On day 13, you'll have some free time in Tangier, perfect for picking up any last-minute souvenirs or simply soaking in the city's vibrant atmosphere. We will then take a ferry back to Spain. Please note that the bus will not accompany us on the ferry, so you'll need to carry your luggage onboard. Our Spanish arrival will be in either Algeciras or Tarifa, from where we'll proceed to Seville. We expect to arrive in Seville by the evening, where dinner will be provided to conclude the day's journey.
Day 14 - Seville
We will start our day exploring Seville, a city rich in history and culture. Our guided city tour will include visits to key landmarks such as the magnificent Seville Cathedral, which boasts the famous Giralda tower, and the picturesque riverside views along the Guadalquivir River. We will also meander through the charming neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana, known for their vibrant atmospheres and rich local traditions. After the city tour, we will enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the Guadalquivir River, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Sevilles renowned landmarks. In the evening, you have the option to delve deeper into the regions cultural heritage by attending a lively flamenco tablao, a quintessential Seville experience.
Day 15 - Seville - Cordoba - Consuegra - Madrid
We depart from Seville and journey through the picturesque Guadalquivir Valley to reach Crdoba, celebrated for its historic significance as the former capital of the Caliphate of Crdoba during Islamic rule. With our expert local guide, we explore the magnificent MosqueCathedral, a testament to the city's rich architectural heritage. You'll also wander through the enchanting Jewish Quarter, with its delightful maze of narrow streets and vibrant flower-filled patios, quintessentially capturing the spirit of Crdoba. After a leisurely lunch, we journey into the heart of Castilian territory. Our next stop is Consuegra, where you'll marvel at the iconic sight of 12 towering windmills standing proudly beside the castle, surveying the expansive La Mancha plain. Here, we visit the Rucio Mill, offering a glimpse into the region's historical landscape. As the day draws to a close, we continue our journey towards the vibrant city of Madrid.
Day 16 - Madrid
