Day 1 - Barcelona
Upon your arrival in Barcelona, we will provide you with a convenient transfer to your hotel, allowing you to settle in and begin enjoying your surroundings. Once you've settled in, you'll have the rest of the day at your leisure to explore Barcelona at your own pace. This vibrant city, known for its rich history and unique blend of modern and gothic architecture, offers plenty of attractions to explore. Should you need any guidance or information regarding the start of your tour, detailed instructions will be available on the notice boards in the hotel reception area. Feel free to unwind and savour your initial impressions of this captivating city. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Barcelona
In the morning, we will embark on a panoramic tour of Barcelona, a lively city known for its unique blend of modernism and history. Situated on the Mediterranean coast, Barcelona is celebrated for Gaud's extraordinary architectural creations, the bustling energy of La Rambla, and its role as host of both the Universal Exposition and the Olympic Games. In the afternoon, you'll have free time to explore the city at your own pace. In the evening, we'll transfer you to Maremagnum, a contemporary entertainment and dining hub located by the sea near Plaza de Coln. Here, you can take a leisurely walk through the lively atmosphere and choose from a variety of dining options.
Day 3 - Barcelona - Peniscola - Valencia - Madrid
On the third day, we head south along the Mediterranean coastline, with a delightful stop in Pescolaa picturesque walled town by the sea, offering splendid views and a chance for a leisurely walk. Our next destination is Valencia, an energetic port city on the Levantine coast, where we'll arrive just in time for lunch. It's the perfect opportunity for you to taste the famous paella in its birthplace. By 4:30 in the afternoon, we'll set off for Madrid, pausing briefly at Valencia's iconic City of Arts and Sciences, a stunning example of modern architecture. Our arrival in Madrid is expected between 8:30 and 9:00 in the evening. To welcome you, we'll provide a transfer to the lively Plaza Mayor. Here, you can savour traditional pinchos or a glass of wine at one of its many charming restaurants. Please note: Depending on the number of participants, our travel from Valencia to Madrid may be by high-speed train.
Day 4 - Madrid
In Madrid, we begin our morning with an insightful tour of the city's vibrant heart, exploring landmarks such as the Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, and Neptuno Fountain. As we navigate our way through the bustling streets, we'll also visit the emblematic Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and the iconic Plaza Mayor. Our tour will take us to Retiro Park, a serene sanctuary in the city centre where you'll have the chance to admire the picturesque lake and the stunning Palacio de Cristal. The morning's adventures include entry to the Santiago Bernabu Stadium, the celebrated home of Real Madrid, often hailed as the worlds finest football club.After a busy morning, you can spend the afternoon as you wish, perhaps exploring more of Madrid's cultural offerings or simply relaxing and soaking in the atmosphere. In the evening, we will ensure your comfortable return to the hotel, wrapping up a day filled with unforgettable experiences.
Day 5 - Madrid - Granada
On the fifth day of our journey, we will set out early from Madrid, travelling south through the plains of La Mancha, celebrated as the setting of the legendary tale of Don Quixote. Our first stop is the quaint village of Puerto Lpice, known for its traditional Manchego charm. Continuing onwards, we will enter the region of Andalusia via the scenic Despeaperros natural pass. Our arrival in Granada will be in time for lunch, which will be provided. You will have free time in the afternoon to explore this historic city. We recommend visiting the Cathedral, which is the final resting place of the Catholic Monarchs, or perhaps wandering through the Albaicn district, where you can soak in the stunning views of the Alhambra from the Mirador de San Nicols. Please note that your tour does not include entry to the Alhambra. Tickets can be purchased from the Alhambra's official website or through tour companies offering city visits.
Day 6 - Granada - Tangier - Asilah - Rabat
Today, we depart from Granada, travelling along the beautiful Costa del Sol. Upon reaching either Algeciras or Tarifa, we'll board a modern ferry to cross the iconic Strait of Gibraltar, with the ferry tickets included. Please note that passengers will need to handle their luggage during the ferry crossing, as the bus typically remains on one side.Once we arrive in Morocco, we'll journey through stunning landscapes, making our first stop at Asilah. This charming walled city on the Atlantic coast was once a historic port and pirate haven, but is now bursting with vibrant local life. You'll have time to enjoy lunch in Asilah before we continue our journey towards Rabat. Upon our arrival in Rabat, dinner will be provided, allowing you to unwind after a day filled with travel and exploration.
Day 7 - Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakech
On day seven, our day begins in Rabat with a panoramic exploration of Morocco's capital. We will visit the sprawling Royal Palace, the mausoleum dedicated to Mohammed V, and the formidable Kasbah of the Udayas, each offering a glimpse into the city's historical and cultural significance. At midday, our adventure continues as we journey to Casablanca. Once there, we will enjoy a brief guided tour with a local expert, during which we will see the exterior of the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest in the Arab world. Later, we head to the vibrant city of Marrakech. Upon arrival at our hotel, you will have the opportunity to take a traditional Kalesa ride, a perfect way to experience the lively atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Dinner will be provided for your convenience, rounding off an enriching day immersing in Morocco's diverse cities.
Day 8 - Marrakech
Today, we delve into the captivating city of Marrakech, a place that has lent its name to the entire country. Our exploration begins with a tour through the city's formidable walls, bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the historic Medina, the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, and the beautiful Bahia Palace, with entrance tickets included. Afterward, enjoy an included lunch, followed by leisure time where you can unwind by the hotel pool, relax in the garden, or explore the vibrant souks. In the evening, you have the option to participate in the Fantasy Party, a special excursion designed to provide an authentic cultural experience.
Day 9 - Marrakech - Ait Benhadou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne Dades
On Day 9, we commence our adventure by traversing the majestic Atlas Mountains. As we leave behind the palm-laden plains of Marrakech, the imposing snow-capped peaks bid us farewell. Along the route, you'll witness enchanting Berber villages perched precariously on the edges of deep ravines. Our journey will bring us to Ait Benhaddou, a fortified village revered for its frequent appearances in notable films. Here, you'll have the chance to admire the remarkable architecture, reminiscent of ancient civilizations.Continuing our voyage through landscapes echoing the pages of biblical narratives, we arrive in Ouarzazate, renowned for its formidable Kasbah and the cinematic history it shares. Our travels then take us through the stunning Valley of Roses, a tapestry of natural beauty. We conclude our day's travels in Boumalne Dades, where a delightful dinner will be served. Please be aware that during the winter season, road closures due to snowfall may require us to adjust our itinerary and explore alternative paths, and access to the Sahara Desert will depend on the road conditions.
Day 10 - Boumalne Dades - Todgha - Erfoud
Embark on an extraordinary adventure through the Sahara's captivating landscapes as we journey from Boumalne Dades to Erfoud. Our route will take us along the Valley of the Kasbahs, a region adorned with river valleys lined with countless palm trees, transitioning into rocky plains that seamlessly blend with lush oases and charming adobe villages. These age-old fortresses stand as silent sentinels along ancient trade routes. A highlight of our day will be the awe-inspiring Todgha Gorge, where the sheer canyon walls tower over 100 metres on either sidetruly a sight to behold. Along the way, we'll make a stop at a quaint adobe village near Khorbat, where you can engage with the local desert community, a heartening initiative supported by the Europamundo Foundation. Please be mindful that access could be affected by weather conditions, such as river flooding. Our journey continues towards Erfoud. Here, an optional off-road adventure into the Sahara Desert awaits, offering a stunning opportunity to witness the sun as it sets over the sand dunes. Lunch is included as part of this memorable day.
Day 11 - Erfoud - Fez
On Day 11, we begin our early departure from Erfoud, journeying once more through the majestic landscapes of the Atlas Mountains. As we traverse dramatic gorges, you'll notice the stark beauty of the high, cool plateau where nomadic shepherds tend their flocks. Our first stop is in Midelt, a hub of regional commerce primarily known for its agriculture, providing a glimpse into local life. Continuing through the Middle Atlas, we'll pause for lunch (included) beside a serene lake, set in a picturesque natural environment. The terrain transforms remarkably as we enter an area rich in forests, where winter often brings snow-capped vistas. Near Azrou, our visit to the "House of Cedars" in a national park offers fascinating insights into the region's ecology. Here, you'll also have the chance to observe lively monkey colonies basking in their natural habitat. Our journey carries us to Bhalil, a tranquil Berber town famed for its scenic old quarter with vibrant streets. Uniquely, many homes here incorporate caves into their architecture. We continue to Fez, where before settling into our hotel, we'll take in the stunning views of the ancient city from the Marinid Tombs. Your day concludes with an included dinner, providing time to reflect on the diverse experiences and scenery encountered today.
Day 12 - Fez - Tangier
Today offers an enriching exploration of Fez, Morocco's cultural heart. Well enter this vibrant city through the impressive Bronze Gates of the Royal Palace, and delve into the Jewish Quarter, bustling souks, and the renowned Tanners' Quarter. Fez is famed for its well-preserved Medina, a living testament to the traditional Arab world. Our visit concludes with a delightful lunch set within a historic palace in the Medina, offering a taste of the citys rich heritage. In the afternoon, well travel north along a modern highway, winding our way through Morocco's picturesque landscapes until we reach Tangier by evening. Here, a delectable dinner awaits, providing the perfect end to a day full of discovery.
Day 13 - Tangier - Seville
Today, you'll have some free time in Tangierperhaps you'd like to indulge in a spot of last-minute shopping. Later, we'll board a ferry to return to Spain, where you'll need to bring your luggage on board as the bus will not be accompanying us across the water. Upon our arrival in either Algeciras or Tarifa, we'll continue onwards to Seville, reaching the city by evening. Dinner will be included as we settle in for the next leg of our journey.
Day 14 - Seville
Today we begin our exploration of Seville with a comprehensive city tour. You'll have the chance to marvel at the iconic cathedral, home to the renowned Giralda bell tower. We'll wander along the scenic banks of the Guadalquivir River, immersing ourselves in the vibrant neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana. After the tour, we invite you to enjoy a serene boat ride on the Guadalquivir River, soaking in its breathtaking panoramic vistas. Your evening is free to explore at your leisure, with the option of attending an exciting flamenco tablao to experience the passion and rhythm of this traditional Spanish dance.
Day 15 - Seville - Merida - Evora - Lisbon
We will depart from Seville and make our way through the picturesque landscapes of rolling hills and vast pastures towards the region of Extremadura. Our first stop will be in Mrida, where we have included admission to the Archaeological Ensemble. Here, you will discover the Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre, both renowned for their exceptional preservation and status as a World Heritage Site. Take your time to explore the vibrant pedestrian historic centre, filled with restaurants and local charm, and enjoy some lunch. Our journey then continues into Portugal, where we will stop in vora, also a World Heritage Site. This city is famous for its whitewashed streets, Renaissance palaces, and impressive cathedral. We aim to arrive in Lisbon by the evening.
Day 16 - Lisbon
This morning, we'll embark on a tour of Lisbon, a city known for its seven hills. Explore the charming alleys and see the famous Portuguese tiles that decorate many buildings, all while experiencing the vibrant light that characterises the city. Well also visit the Belem district, the historical departure point for many of Portugal's great explorers in the 15th century. In the afternoon, you're free to wander through the neighbourhoods and perhaps visit Bairro Alto, famed for its viewpoints. If you're interested, consider an optional excursion to the picturesque towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. Come evening, well gather at Restauradores Square, which teems with lively bars and cafs, before returning to the hotel.
Day 17 - Lisbon - Fatima - Porto
Today, we head north from Lisbon to visit Ftima, a significant pilgrimage site renowned for its religious importance. After our time there, we continue onwards to Porto, Portugals second-largest city, known for its vibrant culture and stunning riverside views. Following lunch, we invite you to join us on a 50-minute cruise along the Douro River aboard a traditional Portuguese Rabelo boat. This will provide a unique vantage point of the city's picturesque scenery. The rest of the afternoon is yours to discover the medieval Ribeira district, home to a maze of narrow streets lined with historic merchant houses and inviting cafs. Afterwards, well proceed to your hotel for the evening.
Day 18 - Porto - Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary - Cambados - Santiago de Compostela
Today, we will journey through breathtaking landscapes, beginning with a visit to Braga in Portugal. Here, we will ascend to the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus on the worlds oldest water-operated cable car. Once at the top, you can take in the stunning views before descending the picturesque staircase, a unique experience in itself. Our adventure continues into Galicia, where we explore the historic town of Cambados, renowned for its charming architecture and vibrant cultural heritage. We will embark on a glass-bottomed boat trip along the Ra de Arousa, providing insight into the region's mussel and oyster production while enjoying onboard tastings of wine and mussels. By lunchtime, we will arrive in Santiago de Compostela. A local guide will lead us on a tour through this iconic city, famed for its medieval streets and pilgrimage sites that draw visitors from around the world.
Day 19 - Santiago de Compostela - Lugo - O Cebreiro - Leon - Oviedo
Our journey today traces the historic Way of St. James, starting with a visit to Lugo. Here, well explore the charming town centre, renowned for its well-preserved Roman walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continuing on, we arrive at O Cebreiro, a quaint Galician village known for its picturesque stone architecture. Our route then leads us to Len, arriving around lunchtime. In Len, well visit the stunning Gothic cathedral, famed for its magnificent stained-glass windows, and take a leisurely stroll through the historic town centre.Next, well traverse the Cantabrian Mountains en route to Asturias, reaching Oviedo by evening. A guided city tour of Oviedo, either upon arrival or the next morning, will include visits to the 9th-century cathedral, the modern Calatrava Congress Palace, the elegant Campoamor Theatre, and the historic Calle de la Rua. Well conclude our day with a traditional Asturian dinner in a classic cider house, offering an authentic taste of local flavours.
Day 20 - Oviedo - Covadonga - Santillana del Mar - Santander
After a night in Oviedo, well set our sights on the breathtaking Picos de Europa, commencing with a visit to the historically significant Basilica of Covadonga. Nestled in a dramatic landscape, this site is steeped in legend as the location of the pivotal Battle of Covadonga. Leaving the mountains behind, we'll travel along the picturesque coastline to Santillana del Mar, renowned for its perfectly preserved medieval quarter. Here, well step back in time as we explore its cobbled streets. Nearby, youll have the chance to visit the Altamira Cave Museum, which offers insights into prehistoric art with its remarkable cave paintings. Our day continues in Santander, the elegant capital of Cantabria, where stunning views of both mountains and sea await. We'll enjoy a guided panoramic tour, taking in the city's highlights and its stunning bay vistas, before settling in for the evening.

On day twenty-one, we embark on a scenic drive along the Cantabrian coast, where the majestic mountains meet the expansive sea. Our destination is Bilbao, the largest city within the Basque Country. Here, a brief city tour awaits, led by a local guide who will introduce us to iconic landmarks such as the area surrounding the Guggenheim Museum, the charming old quarter, and the historic Cathedral. Following the tour, you will have time to explore and perhaps indulge in traditional "pintxos," a hallmark of Basque cuisine. Our journey continues towards La Rioja, a region celebrated for its outstanding wines. We will visit the Wine Culture Museum in Briones, gaining insight into the time-honoured craft of winemaking. We begin our day in Zaragoza with a panoramic tour led by a knowledgeable local guide. Our first destination is the impressive Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, a significant site in the city. While here, we'll explore the world of the celebrated painter Goya, examining some of his most notable works. The tour also includes a visit to the Roman theatre and an elegant Renaissance palace, followed by a leisurely walk by the Aljafera Palace, a striking example of Moorish architecture. After enjoying lunch, we set off towards Catalonia to visit the Poblet Abbey, nestled in picturesque surroundings.
