Day 1 - Barcelona
Upon your arrival in vibrant Barcelona, we'll arrange a seamless transfer to your hotel, allowing you to settle in comfortably. The afternoon is yours to explore at your own paceperhaps wander through the bustling streets or relax and soak in the atmosphere of this lively city. Later in the day, make sure to check the information boards in the hotel reception to stay updated on the details and start time of our tour. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Barcelona
Our second day begins with a captivating panoramic tour of Barcelona, a city celebrated as one of Europe's most compelling capitals. Nestled along the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, Barcelona is renowned for its distinctive blend of old and new, characterised by Gauds striking modernist architecture. Well explore iconic sites including the vibrant Ramblas, taking in the rich tapestry of history that the city offers, from the historic Universal Exposition to its role as an Olympic host city. The afternoon is yours to enjoy as you please, allowing time to delve deeper into the city's attractions or perhaps relax and sample some local cuisine. As evening descends, we provide a transfer to Maremagnum, a contemporary complex filled with entertainment and dining options by the sea and close to Plaza de Coln. Here, youll find a variety of restaurants to choose from, with the chance to unwind while taking in the lively atmosphere of this coastal hub.
Day 3 - Barcelona - Peniscola - Valencia
Today, we journey southward along the picturesque Mediterranean coast, stopping at the historic town of Peniscola. Known for its medieval charm, this fortified city offers ample opportunity for a leisurely walk through its quaint streets, encircled by stunning beaches. After soaking in the atmosphere, we continue our trip to Valencia, arriving around lunchtime. In the afternoon, immerse yourself in a guided tour of this vibrant port city on the Levantine coast, celebrated for its rich history spanning over two millennia. Marvel at the blend of ancient and modern landmarks, including the remarkable City of Arts and Sciences. After the tour, you will have time to explore Valencia at your own pace. The day concludes with a local dinner, allowing you to experience the region's culinary delights.
Day 4 - Valencia - Alicante - Caravaca de la Cruz - Granada
Today, we continue our exploration with a journey to the captivating city of Alicante. Upon arrival, you'll have the chance to enjoy a relaxed stroll along the picturesque coastline, taking in the serene views. After lunch, we venture into the Murcia region to visit Caravaca de la Cruz. This city holds significant religious importance, being one of the five Holy Cities in Catholicism due to the presence of a revered relic of the True Cross. We'll take a ride on the tourist train, granting us convenient access to the historic parts of the city. Our path then leads us through scenic roads as we head towards Andalusia, concluding our day in the culturally rich city of Granada, where a delightful dinner awaits.
Day 5 - Granada
Our day in Granada is filled with captivating experiences. We'll start by exploring the remarkable Alhambra Palace and its stunning Generalife Gardens, magnificent examples of architecture from Moorish Spain. Ensure that your tour includes tickets for this visit, as the number of visitors allowed is heavily controlled by local regulations. In the afternoon, you'll have the freedom to continue discovering the city's rich history, perhaps visiting the cathedral, which holds the tombs of the Catholic Monarchs. Please remember that securing your entry to the Alhambra requires accurate identification details at the time of booking, and tickets are non-refundable if you cancel. If, by chance, a visit to the Alhambra is not feasible, we'll instead explore the historically and architecturally similar Royal Alczar of Seville.
Day 6 - Granada - Tangier - Asilah - Rabat
On the sixth day, we will leave the historic city of Granada, setting off along the renowned Costa del Sol. Upon reaching either Algeciras or Tarifa, we'll board a modern ferry to cross the legendary Strait of Gibraltar please remember to handle your own luggage, as the bus will not accompany us on this part of the journey. Once we arrive in Morocco, we'll traverse breathtaking landscapes to reach Asilah, a picturesque walled city on the Atlantic coast. Known historically as a port and pirate stronghold, Asilah now vibrates with lively charm. You'll have time to enjoy lunch here before we proceed to Rabat. Upon our evening arrival in Rabat, a delicious dinner awaits.
Day 7 - Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakech
Today, our adventure begins with a panoramic tour of Rabat, where we will visit some of its most significant landmarks, including the vast and elegant Royal Palace, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the imposing Kasbah of the Udayas. By midday, we will make our way to Casablanca. Here, we will be joined by a local guide for a brief city tour, featuring a visit to the exterior of the stunning Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest in the Arab world. Later, we will continue our journey to the vibrant city of Marrakech. After settling into our hotel, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Kalesa ride, which offers a unique way to experience the vibrant atmosphere of the renowned Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Dinner will be provided.
Day 8 - Marrakech
Today, we delve into the enchanting city that inspired Morocco's name. Our tour of Marrakech will take us through its formidable walls and vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa square, where the heart of the city's activity pulses. We'll explore the historic Medina, the towering Koutoubia Mosque, and the majestic Bahia Palace (with tickets included). Following the morning's adventures, relax with a leisurely lunch included in your itinerary. Youll then have free time to unwind by the pool or in the garden of the hotel, or perhaps delve into the bustling souks for some shopping. As evening approaches, a delightful optional excursion unfolds with the opportunity to attend the Fantasy Party, providing a taste of local culture and festivities.
Day 9 - Marrakech - Ait Benhadou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne Dades
We begin our day by departing from Marrakech and embarking on a journey across the magnificent Atlas Mountains. As we ascend, we bid farewell to the lush palm groves, while snow-topped peaks greet us along the way. Our route reveals the intriguing sight of small Berber villages perched on the sheer edges of gorges. One of the day's highlights is a stop at Ait Benhaddou, a fortified village that has frequently found fame as a movie backdrop. As we continue, the stark landscapes might remind you of biblical tales. Ouarzazate awaits us next, renowned for its grand Kasbah. We move through the scenic Valley of Roses, eventually reaching Boumalne Dades for an included dinner. Do keep in mind that during winter months, snow may occasionally cause road closures, necessitating itinerary changes. Our ability to access the Sahara Desert will also depend on the road conditions.
Day 10 - Boumalne Dades - Todgha - Erfoud
We begin our adventure through the enchanting Sahara Desert, navigating the Valley of the Kasbahs and admiring the striking contrast between rocky plains and verdant oases. These landscapes are dotted with traditional adobe villages and formidable fortresses that have watched over ancient trade routes for centuries. Our route takes us to the awe-inspiring Todgha Gorge, where towering canyon walls rise over 100 metres skyward, creating a truly breathtaking sight. As we continue, we pause at a small adobe village near Khorbat, providing an opportunity to learn about the local desert community (our visit here is subject to weather conditions). We then proceed to Erfoud. Should you feel adventurous, an off-road excursion offers a memorable desert experience, complete with a spectacular sunset over the sand dunes. Lunch is included today, adding a delightful culinary touch to our journey.
Day 11 - Erfoud - Fez
Depart early from Erfoud as we embark on a journey through the breathtaking landscapes of the Atlas Mountains. We will traverse dramatic gorges and expansive plateaus, where you'll pass nomadic shepherds tending their flocks. Our first stop is Midelt, a bustling town famed for its agriculture, where you can take in the local atmosphere. Continuing our adventure, we will pause for lunch, enjoying the serene natural beauty of a lakeside setting in the heart of the Middle Atlas. The scenery changes dramatically as we enter a region rich with forests, often snow-clad in winter months. A visit to a national park near Azrou offers a chance to explore the "House of Cedars" a small museum providing fascinating insights into the area. Here, keep an eye out for the lively colonies of monkeys that reside in the park. Our journey will then lead us to Bhalil, a picturesque Berber town with colourful streets and unique cave dwellings integrated into everyday houses. We will finally reach Fez, where you can admire panoramic views of the ancient city from the Marinid Tombs before we head to our hotel. Dinner will be included, capping off a day rich in exploration and discovery.
Day 12 - Fez - Tangier
Today, we delve into the cultural heart of Morocco with a tour of Fez. Our exploration begins at the grand Bronze Gates of the Royal Palace, leading us into the bustling Jewish Quarter. As we wander through the vibrant souks and the historic Tanners' Quarter, you'll experience the traditional Arab atmosphere that Fez is famous for. The highlight of our morning is a visit to the citys renowned Medina, one of the best-preserved old cities in the Arab world. For lunch, well indulge in a delightful meal at a historic palace nestled within the Medina, offering an authentic taste of Moroccan cuisine. In the afternoon, we set off on a journey north, travelling along a modern highway, eventually reaching the coastal city of Tangier by evening. Here, we will settle in for the night with a dinner, allowing you to unwind and reflect on the days rich experiences.
Day 13 - Tangier - Seville
You have a leisurely morning in Tangier, allowing you the chance to do some last-minute shopping amongst the vibrant local markets. We will then board a ferry back to Spain. Please remember that our bus service wont accompany us on the ferry, so you'll need to take your luggage on board. Upon arriving in either Algeciras or Tarifa, we will continue our journey towards Seville. We expect to arrive in the evening, where a delightful dinner awaits you.
Day 14 - Seville
In the morning, we will embark on an immersive city tour of Seville, showcasing the grandeur of its renowned cathedral with the iconic Giralda. Our route will trace the scenic banks of the Guadalquivir River and take us through the charming neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana, each steeped in unique cultural character. Following this exploration, you can indulge in a tranquil boat ride on the Guadalquivir River, providing fantastic panoramic views of the cityscape, and offering a delightful way to appreciate Seville from a different perspective. As evening falls, you have the opportunity to experience the vibrant artistry of a flamenco tablao, where the passionate rhythms and fiery performances encapsulate the spirit of Andalusian culture.
Day 15 - Seville - Merida - Evora - Lisbon
Leaving Seville, we journey through serene landscapes of rolling hills and expansive pasturelands towards the ruggedly beautiful region of Extremadura. Our first stop is Mrida, where we include entry to the Archaeological Ensemble. This UNESCO World Heritage Site showcases remarkably preserved Roman architecture, including a grand theatre and amphitheatre. You'll have time for lunch and a leisurely stroll through Mridas pedestrianised historic centre, bustling with local restaurants and vibrant charm. Continuing on, we cross into Portugal, making our way to vora. Known for its whitewashed streets, Renaissance palaces, and stately cathedral, vora is another UNESCO World Heritage Site. We arrive in Lisbon by evening.
Day 16 - Lisbon
In the morning, we will set off on a sightseeing tour of Lisbon, the captivating capital spread over seven hills, known for its quaint alleys, iconic tiles, and the ever-present feeling of "saudade." We'll explore the Belem neighbourhood, famed as the departure point for the great Portuguese navigators of the 15th century. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisureperhaps a stroll to the charming Bairro Alto with its stunning viewpoint appeals? Alternatively, you might consider an optional excursion to the nearby towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. As the evening unfolds, we'll reconvene at the lively Restauradores Square, teeming with vibrant bars and cafes, before heading back to our hotel.
Day 17 - Lisbon - Caceres - Madrid
We begin the day with an early departure from Portugal, venturing through the picturesque Alentejo region. Our first stop is Estremoz, a quaint town renowned for its medieval castle, charming cobblestone streets, and remarkable architecture, reflecting the essence of Portuguese culture. Here, we'll take a brief pause for a coffee before continuing our journey across the border into Spain. Our next destination is Cceres, where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch and wander through its historic centre. This area boasts an exceptionally preserved medieval and Renaissance urban complex, offering a glimpse into the past. Our day concludes as we proceed to Madrid, arriving in the evening. We'll transfer you to Plaza Mayor, a lively square bustling with restaurants and vibrant activities, where you can spend the evening soaking in the local atmosphere.
Day 18 - Madrid
On day 18, we will immerse ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Madrid. Our morning begins with a comprehensive tour of the city centre, showcasing iconic landmarks such as Paseo del Prado, the stunning Cibeles and Neptuno fountains, the impressive Puerta de Alcal, the lively Plaza de Coln, and the historic Plaza Mayor. We then retreat to the tranquillity of Retiro Park, a serene oasis amidst the city's bustle. Here, we will explore its beautiful lake and the exquisite Palacio de Cristal. Admission to the Santiago Bernabu Stadium is included, offering a taste of the excitement as we visit this legendary ground, home to Real Madridan esteemed club in the world of football. Following the visit, you have the afternoon free to further explore Madrid at your own pace. Whether you choose to wander through its bustling streets or relax at a caf, the choice is yours.
