Day 1 - Barcelona
As you arrive in the vibrant city of Barcelona, we provide a seamless transfer to your hotel for your comfort and convenience. Once settled, you'll have the rest of the day to explore at your own pace. Take this opportunity to soak up the citys lively atmosphere, discover its unique charm, or simply unwind. In the afternoon, be sure to check the hotel reception for important information about the start of your tour. Prepare to immerse yourself in all that this fascinating city has to offer. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Barcelona
In the morning, we will set out on a panoramic tour of Barcelona, a captivating European city renowned for its unique character. Nestled along the Mediterranean coast, this vibrant city is famous for the modernist architecture of Antoni Gaud, the lively atmosphere of Las Ramblas, and its eventful past, which includes hosting the Universal Exposition and the Olympic Games. In the afternoon, you'll have the opportunity to explore at your own pace, immersing yourself in Barcelona's rich culture and history. As evening approaches, we will arrange for a transfer to Maremagnum, a contemporary complex by the sea near Plaza de Coln. Here, you can enjoy a leisurely walk in the vibrant setting and discover a variety of dining options to suit your taste.
Day 3 - Barcelona - Peniscola - Valencia - Madrid
On the third day of our adventure, we journey southwards along the captivating Mediterranean coast, making a notable stop in the enchanting town of Pescola. This delightful walled town offers picturesque scenery and the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll along its historic streets. Later, we continue towards the lively port city of Valencia, reaching just in time for lunch. Perhaps you'll consider sampling the famous paella, a local culinary highlight. Our exploration of Valencia includes a brief visit to the City of Arts and Sciences, an architectural marvel that showcases modern design. By late afternoon, we press on towards Madrid, with our arrival anticipated between 8:30 and 9:00 p.m. To welcome you to Madrid, we include a transfer to the buzzing Plaza Mayor, a popular destination where you can explore various eateries offering tapas and wine. Please note, depending on group size, the journey from Valencia to Madrid may be aboard a high-speed train.
Day 4 - Madrid
In the morning, we'll embark on an immersive tour of central Madrid, exploring prominent sites such as Paseo del Prado, the Cibeles and Neptuno fountains, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and Plaza Mayor. Our schedule includes a visit to Retiro Park a tranquil green space in the heart of the city where the picturesque lake and the stunning Palacio de Cristal are key attractions. Additionally, we'll provide access to the renowned Santiago Bernabu Stadium, home to Real Madrid, a club celebrated worldwide for its prestigious football legacy. The afternoon is at your disposal to enjoy as you wish. We'll offer a transfer back to the hotel in the evening, rounding off a day packed with cultural discovery and leisurely charm.
Day 5 - Madrid - Granada
On the fifth day, we leave Madrid early, heading southward through the scenic landscapes of La Mancha. Our first stop is the picturesque village of Puerto Lpice, known for its ties to the legendary tales of Don Quixote. We then continue our journey into Andalusia, passing through the striking Despeaperros gorge. Upon reaching Granada, a delightful lunch awaits us. In the afternoon, for those who have opted for the Alhambra visit, we'll explore this splendid palace and its enchanting Generalife Gardens, both masterpieces from the Arab period, accompanied by a local guide. Please take note that entry to the Alhambra is strictly controlled. To secure your access, it is vital to provide correct personal information, including your full name and passport or ID number, at the time of booking. Be aware that ticket costs are non-refundable if you need to cancel. In the rare instance that a visit to the Alhambra is not feasible, we will alternatively discover the Royal Alczar of Seville, offering comparable historical and architectural significance.
Day 6 - Granada - Tangier - Asilah - Rabat
As we depart from Granada, our journey takes us along the captivating Costa del Sol towards either Algeciras or Tarifa. Here, we embark on a modern ferry crossing of the iconic Strait of Gibraltar, with tickets provided. Please note that you will need to manage your own luggage during the crossing as the bus does not take the ferry. Upon reaching Morocco, you'll be greeted by stunning vistas. Our first stop is Asilah, a delightful walled town on the Atlantic coast, which was historically a significant port and pirate stronghold. Today, it thrives with vibrant culture and life. After enjoying some time here, we'll proceed to Rabat where a delicious dinner awaits.
Day 7 - Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakech
Our day begins with a panoramic exploration of Rabat, Morocco's capital, where well visit the grand Royal Palace, honour the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and explore the formidable Kasbah of the Udayas. Around midday, we set off toward Casablanca. Here, a local guide will lead us on a brief city tour, featuring a visit to the exterior of the grand Hassan II Mosque, one of the supreme mosques in the Arab world. Afterwards, we journey on to Marrakech. Upon reaching the hotel, you can opt to indulge in a traditional Kalesa ride that will transport you to the vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Evening plans include a delicious dinner.
Day 8 - Marrakech
Today we immerse ourselves in the vibrant essence of Marrakech, a city that has captivated the world with its unique charm. Our guided tour will navigate through the citys formidable ancient walls, showcasing key sites such as the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the historic Medina, the striking Koutoubia Mosque, and the exquisite Bahia Palaceentry is included. After our morning exploration, you'll have some leisure time for lunch, which is included in your itinerary. Seize the opportunity to unwind by the hotel pool or garden, or perhaps venture into the nearby souks for a little shopping. As evening approaches, you may opt to partake in the renowned Fantasy Party, an optional experience that promises to enrich your stay in this mesmerising city.
Day 9 - Marrakech - Ait Benhadou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne Dades
Today, we will depart from Marrakech and journey across the majestic Atlas Mountains, where snow-capped peaks will bid us farewell. As we leave behind the palm groves, witness the picturesque Berber villages that cling to the edges of deep gorges. Our first stop is the renowned fortified village of Ait Benhaddou, celebrated for its roles in numerous films. Continuing our expedition, we shall arrive in Ouarzazate, famous for its striking Kasbah. The breathtaking landscapes might remind you of biblical tales as our path takes us through the Valley of Roses. Today's journey concludes in Boumalne Dades, where dinner is included. Please note that during winter, snowdrifts may occasionally close roads. If this occurs, we will adapt the itinerary according to alternative plans, as access to certain areas, including the Sahara Desert, depends on road conditions.
Day 10 - Boumalne Dades - Todgha - Erfoud
Today, we embark on an exhilarating journey through the captivating landscapes of the Sahara Desert. Our adventure begins as we traverse the striking Valley of the Kasbahs, where palm-fringed river valleys and rocky plains seamlessly give way to lush oases and ancient adobe villages scattered across the horizon. We'll make our way to the Todgha Gorge, an awe-inspiring natural wonder featuring dramatic canyon walls soaring over 100 metres high on either side. This spectacular setting provides a unique glimpse into Morocco's breathtaking terrain.As we continue our journey, we'll pause in a quaint adobe village near Khorbat, where you have the opportunity to engage with the local desert community. Please note, this visit is subject to weather-related access conditions, such as river flooding. Our days journey continues towards Erfoud, a bustling town renowned for its proximity to the Sahara's majestic sand dunes. Here, you may choose to participate in an optional off-road excursion to witness a spectacular sunset over the desert sandsa truly memorable experience. Lunch is provided as part of today's itinerary, allowing us to relax and enjoy the unique flavours of the region.
Day 11 - Erfoud - Fez
On day 11, our journey begins with an early departure from Erfoud as we traverse the breathtaking landscapes of the Atlas Mountains once more. We'll navigate through dramatic gorges while soaking in the awe-inspiring views before descending onto a high plateau. This chilly expanse is home to nomadic shepherds, offering a glimpse into their traditional way of life. Our route includes a brief stop in Midelt, a town known for its thriving agricultural market, situated in the heart of the region.Continuing our adventure, we'll pause for lunch (included) amidst the stunning natural scenery of the Middle Atlas, by a picturesque lake. The landscape transforms as we travel through regions abundant in forests, where snowfall is prevalent in winter. Near Azrou, we'll explore the "House of Cedars" within a national park. This small museum provides insight into the local ecology, and we'll have a chance to observe the areas playful monkey colonies.Next, our journey brings us to Bhalil, a quaint and serene town inhabited by Berbers of the Middle Atlas. Famous for its charming old town with vibrant streets, Bhalil showcases an intriguing blend of traditional cave dwellings that have been integrated into modern houses. Our day concludes with our arrival in Fez. Before settling into our hotel, we will pause to take in panoramic views of this ancient city from the Marinid Tombs. Dinner will be provided.
Day 12 - Fez - Tangier
Today we will explore the cultural heart of Morocco, the majestic city of Fez. Our adventure begins as we enter through the impressive Bronze Gates of the Royal Palace. From there, we'll traverse the vibrant Jewish quarter, where lively souks provide a sensory feast, and visit the bustling Tanner's Quarter, known for its traditional leather-making techniques. Recognised as the cultural capital of Morocco, Fez's Medina is famed for preserving the authentic Arab atmosphere in its maze of ancient streets. The morning culminates with lunch at a historic palace in the Medina, a delightful culinary experience. In the afternoon, we'll journey north across Morocco via a modern highway, reaching the historic port city of Tangier by evening. Dinner will be provided, concluding a day rich in exploration and new experiences.
Day 13 - Tangier - Seville
On Day 13, you have the morning to yourself in Tangier for any last-minute shopping or exploration you fancy. Afterwards, we'll take a ferry ride back to Spain. Please note that you'll need to manage your own luggage during the crossing, as the bus will not accompany us. Once we reach the Spanish coast at Algeciras or Tarifa, our journey continues by road to Seville. We aim to arrive by evening, just in time for an inclusive dinner, allowing you to settle in and relax after a day of travel.
Day 14 - Seville
We will start our day in Seville with a comprehensive city tour, allowing us to explore some of the iconic landmarks and vibrant neighbourhoods. You'll witness the magnificent cathedral, notable for its Giralda tower, and enjoy the picturesque views along the banks of the Guadalquivir River. Our tour will also take us through the charming Santa Cruz district and the lively Triana neighbourhood. Following this, we'll embark on a delightful boat cruise on the Guadalquivir River, providing panoramic views of the city from a unique perspective. In the evening, you have the opportunity to experience the rich cultural tradition of flamenco by attending a popular tablao.
Day 15 - Seville - Merida - Evora - Lisbon
Today, we depart Seville and journey through the scenic landscapes of rolling hills and expansive pastures towards Extremadura. Upon reaching Mrida, we'll explore the Archaeological Ensemble, a World Heritage Site known for its remarkably preserved Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre. You'll have time to enjoy lunch and wander through the vibrant historic centre, with its charming pedestrian streets and inviting restaurants. Our journey then takes us across the border into Portugal, where we'll visit vora, yet another World Heritage Site renowned for its whitewashed buildings, Renaissance palaces, and stately cathedral. After exploring, we'll continue our travels, arriving in Lisbon by evening.
Day 16 - Lisbon
This morning, we'll set off on a captivating tour of Lisbon, often referred to as the "City of Seven Hills." As we weave through its charming lanes, you'll discover the intricate tiles adorning buildings and experience the unique aura of "saudade," complemented by the city's radiant Atlantic light. Our exploration includes a visit to the historic district of Belm, where visionary Portuguese navigators embarked on their oceanic adventures in the 15th century. After the tour, you'll have the afternoon free to explore at your leisure. Perhaps consider wandering through the Bairro Alto, known for its vibrant atmosphere and offering spectacular views over the city. Alternatively, you might opt for an optional excursion to the nearby towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril, each with its own distinct charm. As night approaches, we'll return to our accommodations from the lively Restauradores Square, a bustling area filled with energetic bars and cafs.
Day 17 - Lisbon - Fatima - Porto
Today, we head north from Lisbon to the revered pilgrimage city of Ftima. This significant spiritual destination draws visitors from across the globe. Continuing our journey, we arrive in Porto, Portugal's vibrant second city. After lunch, we embark on a 50-minute cruise along the scenic Douro River aboard a traditional Rabelo boat. This offers a unique vantage point of Porto's picturesque riverside and iconic bridges. Once back on land, youll have the rest of the afternoon to explore the Ribeira district. Its medieval charm, with narrow streets filled with historic merchant houses and lively cafs, invites leisurely exploration before we settle into our hotel for the night.
Day 18 - Porto - Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary - Cambados - Santiago de Compostela
Our journey today takes us through breathtaking landscapes as we head towards Braga. Here, well enjoy a ride on the worlds oldest water-operated cable car to reach the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus, where panoramic views await. After exploring the sanctuary, we suggest descending its picturesque staircase for a unique experience. Moving on, we cross into Galicia, stopping in the historic town of Cambados in the Ras Baixas region. Here, we'll embark on a glass-bottom boat trip along the Ra de Arousa, discovering the fascinating methods of mussel and oyster cultivation. Onboard, you'll have the chance to sample local wine and mussels. By lunchtime, we will reach Santiago de Compostela for a guided tour of this charming city, famous for its medieval streets and the prominent pilgrimage sites dating back to the Middle Ages.
Day 19 - Santiago de Compostela - Lugo - O Cebreiro - Leon - Oviedo
Today, our journey takes us along the renowned Way of St. James. We begin in Lugo, where youll have the opportunity to explore its historic town centre and admire the impressive Roman walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our next stop is O Cebreiro, a quaint Galician village known for its charming stone structures. We then proceed to Len, aiming to arrive by lunchtime. In Len, well visit the magnificent Gothic cathedral, which is famous for its stunning stained-glass windows, and enjoy a leisurely walk through the historic town centre.Our travels continue as we cross the Cantabrian Range, heading into the region of Asturias. We arrive in Oviedo by the evening, where a local guide will join us for a tour either upon arrival or the following morning. During this insightful hour-and-a-half tour, well explore landmarks such as the 9th-century cathedral, the Calatrava Congressional Palace, Campoamor Theatre, and Calle de la Rua. To round off the day, a traditional Asturian dinner in a classic cider house will be included, offering a taste of the local culture.
Day 20 - Oviedo - Covadonga - Santillana del Mar - Santander
Today, we're setting off for the majestic Picos de Europa, a stunning mountain range that provides a breathtaking backdrop for our journey. Our first stop is the historic Basilica of Covadonga, a place of great cultural significance in Spain. Following this, we'll travel along the stunning coastline to reach Santillana del Mar. This gem of a town retains a perfectly preserved medieval quarter, making it one of the most charming in Spain.In Santillana, we will visit the Altamira Cave Museum, with its remarkable prehistoric art, where tickets are included for a deeper dive into the regions ancient history. Afterwards, we'll continue to Santander, the vibrant capital of Cantabria. Here, you'll be spirited away on a panoramic tour led by a local guide, showcasing the citys elegant coastal charm and its picturesque bay surrounded by both mountains and sea.
Day 21 - Santander - Bilbao - Foronda Service Area - La Rioja - Zaragoza
We will travel along the scenic Cantabrian coast, where the mountains meet the sea. Our first stop is Bilbao, the largest city in the Basque Country.
