Day 1 - Madrid
Upon your arrival in Madrid, we will ensure a seamless transfer to your hotel, where you'll have some leisure time before the start of the tour. Be sure to check the hotel reception area for information on the welcome meeting, where youll get the chance to meet your guide and fellow travellers. In the evening, we will take you to explore the vibrant nightlife of Madrid, starting at Plaza Mayor and continuing to the lively neighbourhood of La Latina. Known for its tapas restaurants, this area offers a variety of dining options including Indian, Chinese, Spanish, and Middle Eastern cuisinesgiving you the freedom to choose where you'd like to dine. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
Your day will begin with an enlightening tour of central Madrid, where we will explore some of the city's most prestigious landmarks. You'll discover the charming Paseo del Prado, where the heart of Madrid's art and culture beats, and admire the iconic fountains of Cibeles and Neptuno. Our journey will take us to Puerta de Alcal, a historical gateway to the city, followed by the bustling Plaza de Coln and Plaza Mayor, the grand square steeped in rich history.The exploration continues as we head to the tranquil Retiro Park, a green oasis in the heart of the city. Here, we will meander by the serene lake and gaze upon the striking Palacio de Cristal, a magnificent glass palace.Included in today's activities is entry to the legendary Santiago Bernabu Stadium, the home ground of Real Madrid. Often hailed as the world's foremost football club, it is a must-visit for any sports enthusiast. Afterward, the afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure perhaps you'll choose to explore more of this vibrant city or relax in a caf. In the evening, we'll arrange transport back to the hotel, allowing for a restful night after a day steeped in the rich culture and history of Madrid.
Day 3 - Madrid - Granada
On the third day of our journey, we'll set off from Madrid early in the morning, heading south through the windswept plains of La Mancha. Our first stop will be Puerto Lpice, a quaint village that captures the spirit of Don Quixote's exploits. Continuing into the vibrant region of Andalusia, we'll make our way through the Despeaperros Gorge and arrive in Granada, where a delicious lunch awaits. In the afternoon, if you've opted for a visit to the Alhambra, we'll explore this stunning palace and the picturesque Generalife Gardens, both of which stand as grand testaments to Granada's Moorish heritage. Our visit will be guided by a local expert to enrich our understanding of these historical marvels. Please note, access to the Alhambra is strictly regulated, so it's crucial to ensure your booking details are submitted accurately, as ticket costs are non-refundable. Should entry not be possible, we'll instead explore the Royal Alczar of Seville, offering an equally profound historical and architectural experience.
Day 4 - Granada - Malaga - Marbella - Ronda - Seville
We will depart from Granada and head towards the sun-kissed Costa del Sol. Our first stop is Malaga, where you'll have the chance to explore the historic district, celebrated for its splendid cathedral and the Picasso Museum. After soaking up the culture, we'll continue our drive along the stunning coastal highway, which offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. Our journey takes us to Puerto Bans in Marbella, a glamorous and sophisticated marina known for its vibrant atmosphere.In the afternoon, we'll make our way through the mountains, where you can enjoy tales of infamous bandits of the past. Ronda is our next picturesque destination, famed for its dramatic cliffside setting and the impressive gorge that splits the town. As the sun sets, we arrive in Seville to round off the day. Dinner will be served at the hotel, where you can relax and reflect on the day's adventures.
Day 5 - Seville
Today, we immerse ourselves in the vibrant and enchanting city of Seville. This morning, we embark on a guided tour that showcases some of the city's most iconic landmarks. You'll marvel at Seville Cathedral, renowned for its impressive Giralda tower. We'll stroll along the scenic banks of the Guadalquivir River, exploring the charming neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana, each steeped in rich history and culture. After discovering the citys treasures, we invite you to relax on a delightful boat ride along the Guadalquivir River, providing stunning panoramic views of Seville from the water. As evening descends, you might choose to experience the passion and rhythm of traditional Spanish culture by attending a lively flamenco performance at a local tablao.
Day 6 - Seville - Merida - Evora - Lisbon
Departing from Seville, we journey through picturesque landscapes of gently rolling hills and vast pasturelands as we head towards the region of Extremadura. Our first stop is Mrida, where you'll have admission to the Archaeological Ensemble of Mrida. Here, you can marvel at the impressive Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre, lauded for their remarkable preservation and status as a World Heritage Site. You'll have time to enjoy lunch and wander through the lively pedestrianised historic centre, filled with inviting restaurants and local charm. We then continue our trip to Portugal, pausing at vora, another breathtaking World Heritage Site. Known for its quaint whitewashed streets, elegant Renaissance palaces, and grand cathedral, vora is a delight to explore. We'll reach Lisbon by evening, ready to unwind and reflect on the day's adventures.
Day 7 - Lisbon
Today we will explore the enchanting city of Lisbon, famously set upon seven picturesque hills. Our morning tour will guide you through the city's narrow lanes and striking tile-clad facades, as we delve into the essence of "saudade" and bask in the capitals unique Atlantic light. A visit to the historic Belem neighbourhood awaits, a district that served as the launch point for Portugal's legendary navigators of the 15th century. Spend your afternoon as you wish, perhaps wandering through the vibrant Bairro Alto or taking a moment to appreciate the panoramic views from its hilltop lookout. There is also the opportunity for an optional excursion to the nearby towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril for those seeking further exploration. As evening descends, we will reconvene at the lively Restauradores Square, where you may choose to enjoy a meal or a drink at one of the many bustling bars and cafes before returning to our hotel.
Day 8 - Lisbon - Caceres - Madrid
We will set off from Portugal in the early morning, travelling through the scenic Alentejo region. Our route includes a coffee break in the quaint town of Estremoz, celebrated for its medieval castle and charming cobblestone streets. Here, the captivating architecture and serene atmosphere showcase the true essence of Portuguese culture. Crossing the border into Spain, we'll arrive in Cceres, where youll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch and meander through its historic centre. Known for being one of the worlds best-preserved medieval and Renaissance urban areas, it offers a unique glimpse into the past. Our journey continues as we head towards Madrid, reaching the city in the evening.
