Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival at the airport, we'll arrange your transfer to the hotel. You'll have some leisure time before the official start of your adventure. Be sure to check the hotel reception area for details about the welcome meeting, where you will meet your guide and fellow travellers. In the evening, we'll take you to Plaza Mayor and La Latina, renowned for their vibrant nightlife and enticing tapas restaurants. Here, you can choose from a variety of dining options, including Indian, Chinese, Spanish, and Middle Eastern cuisines, to suit your preference. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
Today promises an exciting exploration of Madrid, beginning with an immersive tour of its central sights. Well admire notable landmarks such as Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and Plaza Mayor. Our journey will take us to the serene Retiro Park, a verdant retreat in the heart of the city, where well enjoy the scenic lake and the enchanting Palacio de Cristal. We continue with a visit to the Santiago Bernabu Stadium, the iconic home of Real Madrid, widely regarded as one of the worlds premier football clubs. Following the tour, youll have the afternoon free to explore the city at your own pace. Later in the evening, we will provide a transfer back to the hotel, ensuring a comfortable end to your day.
Day 3 - Madrid - Granada
On the third day, we set off from Madrid bright and early, heading south through the plains of La Mancha. Our first stop is the charming village of Puerto Lpice, an evocative scene reminiscent of the tales of Don Quixote. Continuing onwards into the region of Andalusia via Despeaperros, we arrive in Granada, where lunch is included. In the afternoon, those who have opted for the Alhambra excursion will explore the magnificent Alhambra Palace and the enchanting Generalife Gardens, with their deep historical roots from the Arab period, guided by a local expert. It's crucial to note that access to the Alhambra is regulated, so tickets must be secured upon tour reservation with the correct personal details to guarantee entry. Please be aware that these tickets are non-refundable. In the unusual event that an Alhambra tour is unavailable, we'll instead visit the Royal Alczar of Seville, known for its comparable historical and architectural allure.
Day 4 - Granada - Malaga - Marbella - Ronda - Seville
We depart from Granada and make our way towards the enchanting Costa del Sol, with our first stop in Mlaga. Here, you can explore the historic district, famous for its striking cathedral and the renowned Picasso Museum, celebrating the works of the city's most famous artist. Well then follow the scenic coastal highway, offering stunning views of the Mediterranean, until we reach Puerto Bans in Marbella. Known for its glamorous atmosphere and sophisticated harbour, Puerto Bans is a highlight of the area. Continuing in the afternoon, our journey takes us through the mountains as we listen to tales of old banditry, before arriving in Ronda. This picturesque white town is renowned for its dramatic cliffside setting and the deep canyon dividing it, offering awe-inspiring views. As evening falls, we reach Seville, where a delightful dinner awaits at the hotel.
Day 5 - Seville
Today, we will delve into the captivating city of Seville. Our morning begins with a city tour, during which you'll explore the cathedral, renowned for its iconic Giralda bell tower, and stroll along the picturesque riverbanks of the Guadalquivir. We'll wander through the lively districts of Santa Cruz and Triana, each steeped in history and culture. Following the tour, a scenic boat ride on the Guadalquivir River awaits, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the cityscape. In the evening, you may wish to experience the vibrant and passionate art of flamenco at a local tablao, a perfect way to conclude a day in this enchanting city.
Day 6 - Seville - Merida - Evora - Lisbon
Leaving Seville behind, we head through stunning landscapes of undulating hills and vast pasturelands on our way to Extremadura. Our first stop is in Mrida, where we include entry to the Archaeological Ensemble, famous for its remarkably preserved Roman Theatre and Amphitheatrea recognised World Heritage Site. You'll have time to enjoy a leisurely lunch and explore the lively historic pedestrian centre, teeming with local restaurants and charm. We then continue our journey into Portugal, stopping in vora, another World Heritage Site. Known for its striking whitewashed streets, grand Renaissance palaces, and impressive cathedral, vora offers a captivating glimpse into Portuguese history. We conclude the day's travel by arriving in Lisbon in the evening.
Day 7 - Lisbon
We begin our exploration of Lisbon with a morning tour of the enchanting Portuguese capital, famously set over seven hills. You'll wander through its charming alleys adorned with iconic tiles, bask in the unique light from the Atlantic, and perhaps sense the feeling of "saudade" that characterises the city. We'll visit the historic Belm neighbourhood, a significant site from where the renowned Portuguese explorers launched their expeditions across the oceans during the 15th century. In the afternoon, you're free to explore further at your own pace. Consider heading to the Bairro Alto area, famous for its vibrant atmosphere and scenic viewpoints, or take an optional excursion to the picturesque towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. As the day winds down, we'll gather at the bustling Restauradores Square, surrounded by lively bars and cafs, before returning to our hotel for the evening.
Day 8 - Lisbon - Caceres - Madrid
We will set off from Portugal early, traversing the scenic Alentejo region. Our first stop for coffee will be in the quaint town of Estremoz, renowned for its medieval castle and charming cobblestone streets, epitomising Portuguese authenticity. Continuing our journey, we'll cross into Spain. In Cceres, there's an opportunity to savour a leisurely lunch and explore the historic centre, celebrated as one of the best-preserved medieval and Renaissance urban areas globally. By evening, we'll arrive in Madrid, concluding our journey with cherished and lasting memories. Please ensure you check your flight departure time in case you require an additional night's stay.
