Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival at the airport, we'll be on hand to transport you to your hotel. You'll have some free time to relax before the tour begins. Please refer to the information signs at the hotel reception to find details about the welcome meeting with your tour guide and fellow travellers. In the evening, we'll head to the vibrant neighbourhoods of Plaza Mayor and La Latina, renowned for their bustling nightlife and delightful tapas restaurants. You can choose to dine at a restaurant that suits your palate, with a variety of cuisines available, including Indian, Chinese, Spanish, and Middle Eastern. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
Day two in Madrid promises a fascinating exploration of the city's vibrant heart. Our day begins with a comprehensive tour of central Madrid, where we'll encounter iconic sites such as Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and Plaza Mayor. We then continue with a visit to Retiro Park, a stunning green space in the city's centre, featuring a charming lake and the elegant Palacio de Cristal.A visit to the prestigious Santiago Bernabu Stadium is included for all football enthusiasts and admirers of Real Madrid, esteemed globally as one of the premier football clubs. The early afternoon is free for you to explore Madrid at your own pace or perhaps indulge in a leisurely lunch. In the evening, we will provide a transfer back to your hotel, offering a chance to relax and reflect on the day's adventures.
Day 3 - Madrid - Granada
On our third day, we set off from Madrid in the early morning, journeying southward through the famed landscape of La Mancha. Our first stop is in Puerto Lpice, a quaint village that brings to life the adventures of Don Quixote. Continuing our travels, we pass through the natural mountain pass of Despeaperros and enter the enchanting region of Andalusia, ultimately reaching Granada. Upon our arrival in this historic city, a delicious lunch awaits us. For those who have chosen the option, the afternoon will be dedicated to visiting the exquisite Alhambra Palace and its beautiful Generalife Gardens, guided by a local expert. These iconic landmarks, rich in architectural splendour from the Arab period, offer a fascinating glimpse into history. It is important to note that access to the Alhambra is limited due to legal regulations; therefore, tickets are arranged when the tour is booked, requiring the submission of precise personal information at that time. Please be aware that ticket costs are non-refundable in the event of cancellation. In the rare instance that a visit to the Alhambra is not possible, we will explore the equally significant Royal Alczar of Seville instead.
Day 4 - Granada - Tangier - Asilah - Rabat
On day four, we depart from Granada and make our way along the scenic Costa del Sol. We arrive at either Algeciras or Tarifa, where we board a modern ferry to journey across the Strait of Gibraltar, with ferry tickets included. It's important to note that you will need to carry your own luggage as the bus will not make the crossing with us. Upon reaching Morocco, we travel through some truly stunning landscapes before arriving at Asilah, a charming walled city on the Atlantic coast. Originally a historical port and once notorious as a pirate stronghold, Asilah is now a vibrant destination full of life. You'll have time to enjoy lunch before we continue onwards to Rabat, where dinner will be provided.
Day 5 - Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakech
We set off on a scenic tour of Rabat, where we'll visit the grand Royal Palace, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the imposing Kasbah of the Udayas. At midday, we'll drive to Casablanca for a brief city tour guided by a local expert, which includes a look at the exterior of the Hassan II Mosqueone of the most significant mosques in the Arab world. Later, we continue our journey to Marrakech. Upon arrival at the hotel, you can enjoy an optional traditional Kalesa ride to the vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Dinner is included in the evening, offering you a taste of local flavours.
Day 6 - Marrakech
Today in Marrakech, we will uncover the enchanting allure of this iconic city that lends its name to the country. Our journey starts with a guided tour through the impressive city walls to the vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the heart of the old city, bustling with life at all hours. We will also explore the historic Medina, visit the Koutoubia Mosquean emblem of Marrakech's skylineand wander through the exquisite Bahia Palace where tickets are included. Later, you can enjoy an included lunch, followed by some leisure time. This is your opportunity to unwind by the pool or in the hotel gardens, or perhaps venture into the lively souks for some shopping. As evening falls, you might consider joining an optional Fantasy Party excursion for a memorable night.
Day 7 - Marrakech - Ait Benhadou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne Dades
Today, we embark on an adventure across the majestic Atlas Mountains, where snow-capped peaks often glisten in the distance. As we leave the lush palm groves of Marrakech behind, we'll encounter charming Berber villages nestled in dramatic gorges. Our route includes a visit to the renowned fortified settlement of Ait Benhaddou, a picturesque location that has served as the backdrop for numerous films. Continuing through landscapes that echo biblical narratives, we'll make our way to Ouarzazate, home to an impressive Kasbah. Our journey will then lead us through the enchanting Valley of Roses before arriving in Boumalne Dades, where a delightful dinner awaits. Please note that during the winter months, snowdrifts may lead to road closures, and adjustments to the itinerary might be necessary, including changes to Sahara Desert access based on road conditions.
Day 8 - Boumalne Dades - Todgha - Erfoud
Today's journey offers an exhilarating adventure through the enchanting landscapes of the Sahara. Well begin by travelling through the Valley of the Kasbahs, a picturesque route where numerous river valleys are fringed with countless palm trees. The stark rocky plains seamlessly transform into verdant oases that host traditional adobe villages and ancient fortresses, standing watch over age-old trade routes.A highlight of our day is a visit to the awe-inspiring Todgha Gorge, a spectacular canyon with towering walls that rise over 100 metres on either side, providing an unforgettable vista. On our journey, we will stop at a small adobe town near Khorbat, offering insight into the desert community supported by a local foundation. The accessibility of this visit depends on weather conditions, such as river levels.Our adventure continues as we make our way to Erfoud. Once there, you might choose to embark on an optional off-road excursion to the magnificent Sahara Desert sand dunes. This extraordinary trip offers the opportunity to witness the breathtaking beauty of a desert sunset. For your convenience, lunch will be provided during the day.
Day 9 - Erfoud - Fez
On day nine, we'll set off early from Erfoud, journeying through the dramatic landscapes of the Atlas Mountains. As we traverse this stunning terrain, we'll encounter a high plateau often chilled by the wind inhabited by nomadic shepherds. Our first pause will be in Midelt, a commercial hub known for its vibrant agricultural activity. Continuing through the Middle Atlas, we'll stop for a delightful lunch (included) by a picturesque lake, surrounded by the striking natural scenery.As we progress, the landscape will transform, revealing lush forests where snowfall is a common winter spectacle. Near the town of Azrou, we will visit the "House of Cedars" within a national park. This small museum offers a glimpse into the regions ecological significance and history. While here, we'll have the opportunity to observe the playful colonies of monkeys that inhabit this area.After soaking in the natural beauty, we'll make our way to Bhalil, a tranquil town set amidst the Middle Atlas. Bhalil is renowned for its quaint old town with vibrant streets, where traditional cave dwellings are uniquely integrated into the local architecture. Our journey will ultimately lead us to Fez, where we'll take in sweeping views of the historic city from the Marinid Tombs before proceeding to our hotel. Dinner will be provided to round off the day's adventures.
Day 10 - Fez - Tangier
Today, we embark on a fascinating exploration of Fez, entering through the distinguished Bronze Gates of the Royal Palace. Our journey begins with the vibrant Jewish quarter, followed by a stroll through the bustling souks and the renowned Tanners Quarter. Fez, celebrated as the cultural capital, invites us to delve into its impressive Medina, a place which preserves the traditional Arab atmosphere unmatched by any other city. Our morning tour concludes with lunch at a historic palace nestled within the Medina, enhancing our experience with authentic Moroccan cuisine. In the afternoon, we journey northwards along a modern highway, arriving in Tangier by the evening. Relax and enjoy your evening meal, which is included.
Day 11 - Tangier - Seville
In Tangier, you'll have some free timeperhaps an opportunity for a bit of last-minute shopping or to savour the local atmosphere. Afterwards, we'll board a ferry back to Spain. Please note, you'll need to carry your own luggage, as the bus doesn't accompany us on the ferry. Upon arrival in either Algeciras or Tarifa, we'll continue by bus to Seville. We'll reach Seville in the evening, where dinner will be provided.
Day 12 - Seville
We'll start our day in Seville with a city tour, where you'll discover the iconic cathedral, home to the legendary Giralda tower. As we explore, you'll also see the scenic banks of the Guadalquivir River and meander through the well-loved neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana. Following our tour, you'll enjoy a serene boat ride along the Guadalquivir River, offering captivating panoramic views of Seville's landscape. In the evening, you may choose to immerse yourself in the vibrant rhythms and passionate movements at a popular flamenco tablao.
Day 13 - Seville - Merida - Evora - Lisbon
Departing Seville, we journey through the scenic landscapes of Extremadura, characterised by rolling hills and expansive pastures. Our first stop is Mrida, where you'll enjoy entry to the Archaeological Ensemble, home to an impressively preserved Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre, both celebrated for their historical significance as a World Heritage Site. There will be time to savour lunch and explore the vibrant, pedestrian-friendly historic centre, teeming with restaurants and local charm. Our travels then lead us to Portugal, where we pause in vora, another World Heritage Site. This charming town is renowned for its whitewashed streets, Renaissance palaces, and grand cathedral. We conclude our day arriving in Lisbon by evening.
Day 14 - Lisbon
On this day, we will set off on a guided tour of Lisbon, the renowned Portuguese capital nestled among seven hills. Discover the city's charming alleys, iconic tiles, and the elusive emotion of "saudade," all enveloped in the city's distinctive Atlantic light. Our itinerary includes a visit to the historical Belem districtthe launching point for the great Portuguese explorers of the 15th century. Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure, exploring the vibrant Bairro Alto, known for its spectacular viewpoint, or choose to embark on an optional excursion to the picturesque towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. Well reconvene in the evening, making our way back to the hotel from Restauradores Square, a lively area brimming with bars and cafes, perfect for soaking up some local culture.
Day 15 - Lisbon
After enjoying breakfast, we conclude our incredible journey. As you prepare for departure, reflect on the wonderful memories of diverse landscapes, vibrant cultures, and shared experiences.
