Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival at the airport, we'll arrange your transfer to the hotel. You have some free time to relax until the tour begins. Be sure to check the information signs in the hotel reception for details on the welcome meeting, where you'll meet your guide and fellow travellers. In the evening, we'll whisk you away to Plaza Mayor and La Latina, renowned for their vibrant nightlife and diverse selection of tapas restaurants. Whether you're craving Indian, Chinese, Spanish, or Middle Eastern cuisine, you're free to dine wherever your taste buds take you. Enjoy exploring the culinary delights of this bustling city! Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
Begin your day with an enriching sightseeing excursion around central Madrid, where we will explore some of the city's most iconic landmarks, including Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and Plaza Mayor. The tour continues with a visit to the serene Retiro Park, an oasis in the heart of the city, where you'll have the chance to admire the beautiful lake and the striking Palacio de Cristal. We then make our way to the celebrated Santiago Bernabu Stadium, home to the legendary football club, Real Madrid, with admission included. After a morning steeped in culture and sport, enjoy the afternoon at your leisure to delve into Madrid's vibrant atmosphere or discover its culinary delights. As evening falls, we will arrange a return transfer to your hotel, ensuring a relaxing end to a day full of exploration.
Day 3 - Madrid - Granada
On the third day, we embark on an early morning journey from Madrid, venturing south through the storied region of La Mancha. Our path takes us to Puerto Lpice, a picturesque Manchego village reminiscent of the tales of Don Quixote. Continuing our travels, we'll cross into Andalusia via Despeaperros, ultimately arriving in the city of Granada where we will enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, those who have opted for an in-depth exploration will be treated to a guided tour of the Alhambra Palace and its exquisite Generalife Gardens, both remarkable legacies from the Arab period. Due to strict visitor regulations at the Alhambra, ensure all booking details, including your full name and passport or ID number, are correcttickets are non-refundable. Should unforeseen circumstances prevent our Alhambra visit, we will instead experience the historic Royal Alczar of Seville, an alternative of similar cultural and architectural importance.
Day 4 - Granada - Tangier - Asilah - Rabat
As we leave Granada, we journey along the picturesque Costa del Sol. Our destination is Algeciras or Tarifa, where we board a modern ferry to traverse the iconic Strait of Gibraltar (tickets are included). It's important to note that passengers will need to handle their own luggage as the bus will not make the crossing. Once in Morocco, we'll experience a drive through stunning landscapes, with our first stop being Asilah. This charming walled city, perched on the Atlantic coast, was once a bustling historic port and pirate haven, now vibrant with life and culture. There will be time to enjoy lunch here before we continue to Rabat, where an included dinner awaits.
Day 5 - Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakech
Today, we will embark on a panoramic tour of Rabat, where we'll visit the grand Royal Palace, pay respects at the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and explore the formidable Kasbah of the Udayas. In the middle of the day, we'll make our way to Casablanca. Here, a local guide will take us on a short city tour, which includes viewing the stunning exterior of the Hassan II Mosque, one of the most significant mosques in the Arab world. Later, our journey continues to Marrakech. Upon arrival at your hotel, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture with a traditional Kalesa ride to the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Dinner will be included, allowing you to savour the flavours of this vibrant city.
Day 6 - Marrakech
Today, we delve into the captivating city of Marrakech, a place so influential that it lent its name to the entire country. Our guided tour will navigate through its iconic fortified walls, the lively Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the traditional Medina, the majestic Koutoubia Mosque, and the splendid Bahia Palace with entry included. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy an included lunch, followed by free time to unwind by the pool, relax in the hotel gardens, or explore the vibrant souks. Later, an optional evening excursion offers the chance to attend the Fantasy Party, adding a further layer of intrigue to your Moroccan adventure.
Day 7 - Marrakech - Ait Benhadou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne Dades
On Day 7, we embark on a scenic journey across the Atlas Mountains, where snow-capped peaks provide a stunning backdrop as we leave the lush palm groves of Marrakech behind. Along the way, you'll witness the beauty of Berber villages perched on the edges of deep gorges. Our route includes a visit to the fortified village of Ait Benhaddou, famous for its roles in numerous films. As we traverse landscapes reminiscent of biblical times, we'll stop in Ouarzazate, renowned for its formidable Kasbah. Continuing through the breathtaking Valley of Roses, we make our way to Boumalne Dades, where dinner is included. Please note that during winter, roads may occasionally close due to snow; if needed, we will follow an alternative plan. Access to the Sahara Desert will also depend on road conditions.
Day 8 - Boumalne Dades - Todgha - Erfoud
Today promises a thrilling adventure as we set off through the Sahara Desert. Journeying through the Valley of the Kasbahs, we'll discover river valleys lined with thousands of palm trees and encounter rocky plains blending into lush oases. En route, we'll encounter adobe villages and ancient fortresses that have stood the test of time. We'll visit the magnificent Todgha Gorge, where the canyon walls tower impressively over 100 metres on each side. Continuing our journey, we'll stop at a small adobe town near Khorbat, where youll have the chance to learn about a desert community supported by a local foundationthough do note that access may be influenced by weather conditions like river flooding. We'll then make our way to Erfoud. For those inclined, there's an optional off-road excursion available to the Sahara Deserts sand dunes, providing a sensational experience as the sun sets. Lunch is included today.
Day 9 - Erfoud - Fez
Today, we will set out early from Erfoud, traversing the magnificent Atlas Mountains once more. Our journey will lead us through dramatic gorges and breathtaking vistas, offering remarkable scenery to admire. As we progress, we will journey across a high and chilly plateau, which is the domain of nomadic shepherds tending their flocks.We will pause briefly in Midelt, a bustling market town at the heart of the region, celebrated for its rich agricultural offerings. Continuing our route, lunch (included) will be enjoyed amid the natural beauty of the Middle Atlas, by a picturesque lakeside setting.As we move on, the landscape will transform, revealing a region blanketed in lush forests; it's not uncommon for this area to be snow-dusted in winter, adding to its charm. Near Azrou, we will visit the "House of Cedars" within a national park, home to a small museum offering insights into the local environment and culture. Here, the playful antics of the local monkey colonies can also be observed.Our journey will then lead us to Bhalil, a charming and tranquil town inhabited by the Berber people of the Middle Atlas. This quaint locale is known for its vibrant streets and unique traditional homes that incorporate ancient caves. As the day draws to a close, we will proceed to Fez. Before heading to our hotel, we will take in panoramic views of the ancient city from the historic Marinid Tombs. Dinner will be provided as we settle in for the evening.
Day 10 - Fez - Tangier
Today, we immerse ourselves in the enchanting city of Fez, a cultural gem of Morocco. Our exploration begins at the majestic Bronze Gates of the Royal Palace, leading us into the vibrant Jewish Quarter, with its bustling souks and the renowned Tanners' Quarter. As the heart of the country's cultural heritage, Fez is famed for its Medina, a labyrinth of narrow lanes, offering a glimpse into traditional Arab life. Our visit includes a delightful lunch at a historic palace nestled within the Medina, a perfect setting that reflects the city's rich history.In the afternoon, we embark on a scenic drive northwards on a modern highway, enjoying the changing landscapes of Morocco. By evening, we'll arrive in Tangier, known for its cultural fusion and strategic location at the gateway between Africa and Europe. Dinner is included to cap off your day, providing a taste of local flavours before the night begins.
Day 11 - Tangier - Seville
On the eleventh day, enjoy some free time in Tangier, where you might want to indulge in some last-minute shopping or leisurely exploration of this vibrant city. Later, well board a ferry back to Spain please note that youll need to carry your own luggage onto the ferry, as the bus will not accompany us on this crossing. Upon arrival in Algeciras or Tarifa, well continue our journey to Seville by bus. We anticipate reaching Seville in the evening, where a delightful dinner awaits you.
Day 12 - Seville
Today in Seville, we will set out on an explorative tour of the city, famed for its vibrant culture and architectural marvels. Highlights include a visit to the impressive Seville Cathedral, where you'll glimpse the iconic Giralda, the bell tower offering breathtaking views over the city. Youll also stroll along the picturesque banks of the Guadalquivir River and wander through the atmospheric neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana, each offering a unique charm and insight into local life. Following the tour, relax on an included boat trip along the Guadalquivir River, providing you with stunning panoramic vistas of Seville from the water. This serene journey offers a fresh perspective on the city, showcasing its landmarks from a different angle. In the evening, you have the option to immerse yourself in traditional Spanish culture at a flamenco tablao, a popular choice where you can experience the passionate rhythms and vibrant costumes of this iconic dance style.
Day 13 - Seville - Merida - Evora - Lisbon
Today, we depart from Seville, travelling through the picturesque region of Extremadura, with its gently rolling hills and vast pastures. Our first stop will be in Mrida, where you'll enjoy included admission to the Archaeological Ensemble a remarkable site featuring a Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre, celebrated for its exceptional state of preservation and status as a World Heritage Site. Take some time to explore the lively pedestrianised historic centre, perfect for a leisurely lunch amidst the local charm and bustling restaurants. We then continue our journey to Portugal, stopping in vora, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, famed for its quaint whitewashed streets, impressive Renaissance palaces, and grand cathedral. Arriving in Lisbon in the evening, you'll be ready to rest and reflect on the day's highlights.
Day 14 - Lisbon
In the morning, we will set off on a sightseeing tour of Lisbon, Portugal's capital, famously known as the city of seven hills. You will be enchanted by its narrow lanes, iconic ceramic tiles, and the city's unique atmosphere, imbued with "saudade"a lingering sense of nostalgiaand bathed in striking Atlantic light. Our tour will take us to the Belem neighbourhood, a historical area from which the renowned Portuguese explorers embarked on their seafaring journeys in the 15th century. The afternoon is yours to spend as you wish. You might choose to wander through the Bairro Alto, with its scenic viewpoints, or consider joining an optional excursion to explore the nearby charming towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. In the evening, we will make our way back to the hotel from Restauradores Square, a lively area buzzing with vibrant bars and cafes.
Day 15 - Lisbon - Caceres - Madrid
Today, we bid farewell to Portugal as we set off early, travelling through the scenic Alentejo region. Our first pause will be in Estremoz, a delightful town that boasts a medieval castle, charming cobbled streets, and striking architecture a genuine snapshot of Portuguese heritage. After a refreshing coffee stop, we proceed into Spain, heading towards Cceres. Here, youll have time to savour lunch and explore the town's historic centre, famed for its remarkably preserved medieval and Renaissance buildings. In the evening, we'll continue our journey to Madrid, where we'll arrive and settle in for the night.
Day 16 - Madrid
Following breakfast, our journey concludes, leaving you with cherished memories to carry with you.
