Day 1 - Madrid
Upon your arrival in Madrid, we'll be there to transfer you to your hotel, where you can enjoy some free time before our tour commences. Be sure to check the information signs in the hotel's reception area for details regarding the welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travellers. In the evening, we'll take you to Plaza Mayor and La Latina, one of Madrid's most iconic neighbourhoods renowned for its vibrant nightlife and tapas restaurants. Here, you can choose to dine at a restaurant of your liking, with a selection of cuisines including Indian, Chinese, Spanish, and Middle Eastern. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
Our day begins with an immersive tour of central Madrid, taking in key sights such as Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and Plaza Mayor. We will continue to the lush Retiro Park, a haven of tranquillity in the city's heart where well visit the lake and the striking Palacio de Cristal. Entry to the Santiago Bernabu Stadium the illustrious home of Real Madrid, often hailed as the worlds premier football club is included. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisure. In the evening, we'll provide a comfortable transfer back to the hotel.
Day 3 - Madrid - Granada
We will embark on our journey from Madrid bright and early, heading southward through the enchanting region of La Mancha. Our first stop is Puerto Lpice, a quaint village that brings to mind the tales of Don Quixote. Continuing our journey, we will cross into Andalusia via the scenic Despeaperros, eventually arriving in Granada where a delightful lunch awaits us. In the afternoon, the time is yours to explore at leisure. You might choose to visit the Cathedral, which is the final resting place of the Catholic Monarchs, or perhaps wander through the charming Albaicn neighbourhood. Here, the Mirador de San Nicols offers stunning views of the Alhambra. Please note, our tour does not include admission to the Alhambra itself. Should you wish to visit, we recommend purchasing tickets through the official website or via local guided tours.
Day 4 - Granada - Malaga - Marbella - Ronda - Seville
On the fourth day of our journey, we depart from Granada, setting our sights on the beautiful Costa del Sol. Our first stop is Mlaga, where youll have the opportunity to explore its delightful historic district, renowned for its striking cathedral and the Picasso Museum, which celebrates the life of one of Spains most famous artists. After soaking in the cultural richness of Mlaga, we continue our journey along the coastal highway. As we travel, enjoy stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. Our next destination is Puerto Bans in Marbella, a glamorous and elegant marina nestled within a luxurious seaside resort. It's a perfect spot to appreciate the blend of modern amenities and tranquil sea views. In the afternoon, our route takes us through the mountainous landscape rich with tales of legendary bandits, before reaching Ronda. This enchanting white town captivates visitors with its dramatic cliffside position and the spectacular gorge that bisects it. As the day draws to a close, we make our way to Seville, where well arrive in the evening. Dinner is included at our hotel, offering a chance to unwind and reflect on the days experiences.
Day 5 - Seville
In Seville, we'll start the day with a guided exploration of the city's highlights. Visit the impressive cathedral, renowned for its iconic Giralda tower, and stroll along the banks of the Guadalquivir River. Discover the vibrant neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana, each brimming with history and character. Afterwards, enjoy a leisurely boat trip along the Guadalquivir, offering a different perspective of Seville's enchanting skyline. In the evening, you might wish to immerse yourself in Andalusian culture by attending a traditional flamenco show.
Day 6 - Seville - Merida - Evora
On the sixth day of our journey, we set off from Seville, travelling amidst the serene landscapes of gentle mountains and expansive pastures as we head towards Extremadura. Our first stop is the city of Mrida, where you'll find the distinguished Archaeological Ensemble of Mrida. Entrance to the site, a UNESCO World Heritage treasure, is included for you to explore the remarkably preserved Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre. After visiting these fascinating historical landmarks, there's ample time to enjoy lunch and wander through Mrida's bustling pedestrian historic centre, teeming with vibrant restaurants.We then cross into Portugal, arriving in vora, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known for its charming whitewashed streets, Renaissance palaces, and an impressive cathedral, vora leaves much to discover. You'll have free time here to delve into the citys rich cultural and historical offerings at your own pace.
Day 7 - Evora - Marvo - Castelo de Vide - Tomar - Fatima
Today, we journey through the enchanting landscapes of Alentejo. Our first stop is Marvo, a picturesque walled town offering breathtaking panoramic views of the region. Next, we explore Castelo de Vide, where you can admire the impressive castle and wander through the historic Jewish quarter. Here you have the opportunity to visit a medieval synagogue, now a museum, or simply enjoy the winding streets of the town. After lunch, we'll continue to Tomar, where we visit the renowned Convent of Christa former stronghold of the Knights Templar, with admission included. Before reaching Ftima, we'll make a brief stop in Aljustrel, the birthplace of the three young shepherds who witnessed the apparitions of the Virgin Mary. You can visit Lucia's house and immerse yourself in the town's history. Once in Ftima, there's free time to explore the sanctuary, where you may experience the candlelight procession if you wish (note that it does not take place in winter). Later, dinner will be provided.
Day 8 - Fatima - Porto
Today, we journey north to Porto, Portugal's second-largest city, arriving around 11:00 a.m. Upon arrival, we'll take a 50-minute cruise on the Douro River aboard a traditional Portuguese "Rabelo" boat. This experience provides a unique view of the city's picturesque riverside. Following the cruise, you'll have free time to explore the vibrant Ribeira district, celebrated for its narrow streets lined with historic merchant houses and delightful cafs. Later, you'll have the opportunity to unwind at your hotel.
Day 9 - Porto - Braga - Guimares - Bom Jesus - Pinho - Coimbra
Today, we will immerse ourselves in the picturesque landscapes of northern Portugal. Our day begins with a leisurely explore of Braga, often referred to as the religious capital of Portugal, where we will visit its historic cathedral. We then head to the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus youll ascend on the worlds oldest cable car, from where you can take in the splendid views. You might like to descend via the impressive and scenic staircase afterwards. Our journey continues to Guimares, which boasts the distinction of being Portugals first capital. Here, we will visit the impressive Palace of the Dukes before having lunch amongst the charming vineyards.After lunch, we will journey through the stunning Douro Valley, passing through Sabrosa, the birthplace of the explorer Magellan. In Pinho, we will admire the beautiful train station, famous for its traditional tiles, and enjoy a one-hour cruise along the Douro River, offering a unique glimpse of the region's remarkable beauty. Please note, from November to March when the cruise is unavailable, we will instead take a scenic drive with several stops at viewpoints along the Douro River. Our day concludes with a drive to Coimbra, where we will arrive by the evening. Dinner awaits us at the hotel to finish a delightful day.
Day 10 - Coimbra - Batalha - Nazare - Obidos - Lisbon
On the tenth day of our journey, we'll immerse ourselves in the intriguing city of Coimbra, renowned for its historic university and quaint, hilly streets. Continuing our adventure south, we visit the Batalha Monastery, a stunning medieval mausoleum for kingsentrance is included. Afterward, there will be time for lunch and a leisurely walk in Nazar, a charming seaside town famed for its fishing heritage. We'll also take a ride on the funicular to the old city, offering spectacular ocean views.As we make our way towards Lisbon, a pause in bidos will allow us to explore one of Portugals most picturesque towns, with its whitewashed lanes draped in vibrant flowers. We expect to arrive in Lisbon around 7:30 in the evening, concluding a day filled with cultural and historical insights.
Day 11 - Lisbon
In the morning, we'll set off on a captivating tour of Lisbon, the city of seven hills. We'll wander through its enchanting alleys, admire its iconic tilework, and embrace the unique atmosphere of "saudade" under the city's stunning Atlantic light. Our exploration includes a visit to the historic Belm neighbourhood, the departure point for Portugal's legendary 15th-century navigators. Following the tour, you have the afternoon to yourself. You might choose to explore Bairro Alto and its renowned viewpoint or possibly join an optional excursion to the charming towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. As the day concludes, we'll head back to the hotel from the bustling Restauradores Square, surrounded by lively bars and cafs.
Day 12 - Lisbon
As your journey concludes in Lisbon, enjoy a farewell breakfast as you reflect on the memorable experiences you've gathered along the way. This marks the end of our adventure, with cherished memories of the destinations visited and the experiences enjoyed.
