Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival at the airport, we�ll transfer you to your hotel, where you can take some time to relax before your adventure truly begins. Be sure to check the information signs at reception for details about the welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travellers. As night falls, we�ll whisk you away to Plaza Mayor and La Latina, known as Madrid�s most iconic neighbourhood for nightlife and tapas. Here, you have the option to dine wherever you choose, with a variety of cuisines available, including Indian, Chinese, Spanish, and Middle Eastern. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
We will begin our day in Madrid with an extensive tour of the city's central highlights. You'll see iconic locations such as the Paseo del Prado, Cibeles Fountain, and Neptuno Fountain, along with the grandeur of Puerta de Alcal�, Plaza de Col�n, and Plaza Mayor. Our journey continues with a visit to Retiro Park, a serene oasis in the heart of the city, where we will explore the picturesque lake and the stunning Palacio de Cristal. Next, we have included admission to the Santiago Bernab�u Stadium, home to Real Madrid � widely regarded as one of the most prestigious football clubs globally. The afternoon offers you free time to discover more of Madrid at your leisure. In the evening, we will arrange transport back to the hotel.
Day 3 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
On our third day, we set off from Madrid, travelling through the legendary region of Castile towards Aragon. Our first destination is Zaragoza, where you'll witness the impressive Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, renowned for its striking baroque architecture and significant cultural importance. After taking in the sights of Zaragoza, we continue our journey to the tranquil Abbey of Poblet. Nestled amidst scenic surroundings, this well-preserved medieval monastery invites you to explore its fascinating history and serene atmosphere�admission is included. Our day concludes as we arrive in the vibrant city of Barcelona, where we'll settle down in the evening.
Day 4 - Barcelona - Girona
This morning, we'll delve into the captivating city of Barcelona, a city renowned for its stunning seaside location and architectural brilliance. Our exploration will bring us face to face with Gaud�'s iconic modernist creations and the vibrant atmosphere of the Ramblas. As we wander through streets steeped in history, we'll recall the grandeur of the Universal Exposition and the unforgettable Olympic Games held in this enchanting place, often hailed as one of Europe�s most engaging capitals. Later, we'll journey north through the Catalonian landscape, arriving in the charming city of Girona. Here, we'll wander through its historic centre, admiring the brightly coloured houses that line the river, exploring the ancient Jewish quarter, and marvelling at the grandeur of its cathedral before settling into our hotel for the night.
Day 5 - Girona - Carrieres des Lumieres - Chambery
On day five of our journey, we'll venture into France, crossing through the beautiful Provence region. Our first stop is Arles, a city steeped in history and recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site, famously associated with Vincent Van Gogh. Here, we'll have the opportunity to explore its Roman theatre and charming Romanesque churches, as well as enjoy some free time for lunch in this enchanting setting. Our next experience awaits us at Carri�res des Lumi�res � an extraordinary underground art display set in an ancient quarry that brings art to life through a mesmerising blend of light and sound. As the day draws to a close, we'll reach Chamb�ry, the historic capital of Savoy. This charming city boasts a medieval heart with a large castle and a beautifully preserved historic centre, offering a delightful spot for our evening. Please note, in the event that tickets for Carri�res des Lumi�res are unavailable due to high demand, we'll instead visit Pont du Gard, a remarkable Roman aqueduct.
Day 6 - Chambery - Geneva - Gruyeres - Leysin
Today, we embark on our journey to Switzerland, first arriving in Geneva. Our guide will lead us to the Palais des Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations. We�ll also have the opportunity to stroll through the picturesque English Garden, famed for its vibrant flower clock, and admire the Jet d'Eau � the tallest fountain in Europe. Our adventure continues as we visit the delightful, fortified village of Gruy�res, renowned worldwide for its cheese. Close by, you'll find some of Switzerland's major chocolate makers, including Nestl�. We will tour the Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory, where you will experience a delightful tasting session.As our journey progresses, we�ll move through stunning landscapes filled with charming wooden villages. This scenic route leads us to Chillon Castle, a majestic fortress on the shores of Lake Geneva, where we include admission. By mid-afternoon, we will reach the welcoming village of Leysin, known for its striking views of the Rh�ne Valley and Mont Blanc. A delightful dinner awaits us here, providing a perfect conclusion to the day. Note: Depending on availability, you may stay in another charming Swiss town nestled in the Alps, such as Martigny.
Day 7 - Leysin - Interlaken - Lucerne - Zurich
Our seventh day begins amidst the spectacular alpine landscapes of Switzerland. Be sure to dress warmly, as we will be going to Glacier 3000 � a breathtaking location renowned for its perpetual ice and snow. We will ascend by cable car to witness this natural wonder where you can walk across the thrilling suspended bridge linking two mountain peaks, marvel at the Ice Cathedral, or enjoy activities at the Fun Park. Following this awe-inspiring experience, we will stop for lunch in the picturesque town of Interlaken. Our day continues with a journey to Lucerne, celebrated as one of Switzerland's most beautiful cities, with its charming old town and serene lake views. We will arrive in Zurich during the evening, where you'll have some time to explore the vibrant city centre before we settle into our hotel for the night. Should we face inclement weather or other unforeseen events, please note that the Glacier 3000 cable car may not operate, in which case, we will ensure an equally stunning alternative is available to enjoy the alpine grandeur.
Day 8 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
We depart Zurich in the early morning, ready to cross the breathtaking Alpine landscape into the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Our first destination is Bellinzona, famed for its trio of medieval castles, all UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Strategically perched to protect the city, these impressive fortifications reflect Bellinzona's historical role as a key Alpine stronghold. You�ll have some leisure time to wander through the charming streets of the old town. Continuing onwards, we cross into Italy, stopping for lunch in Como. Known as the jewel of Lombardy, this enchanting town boasts picturesque gardens and an exquisite cathedral along the serene lakefront. Our journey concludes in Milan, where our guide will introduce you to the iconic Piazza del Duomo. You�ll have some time to explore the area before we transfer you to your hotel for the evening.
Day 9 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
Today, we will continue our adventure as we travel from Milan to Pisa. In Pisa, we'll take a charming tourist train to reach the iconic Piazza dei Miracoli, where you�ll have time to marvel at the extraordinary art and architecture, including the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. After appreciating this remarkable site, we will proceed to Rome, arriving later in the day. Here, you�ll find yourself in the heart of Italy, ready to explore its rich history and vibrant culture.
Day 10 - Rome
In the morning, we'll embark on a comprehensive three-hour tour of Rome with a local guide, blending a bus journey with a walking segment through the historical heart of Imperial Rome. Amongst the highlights of our exploration, you'll see the magnificent Arch of Constantine, take in the exterior of the iconic Colosseum, and wander through the Imperial Forums�an impressive architectural complex that once served as the political hub of the ancient world. During our bus journey, we'll also pass by some of Rome's most significant landmarks, including the Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius, and the exterior of Castel Sant'Angelo. Our tour concludes in Vatican City around 11:00 am. This independent state within Rome is the pivotal centre of the Catholic Church. Following the panoramic tour, an optional visit is available to delve deeper into the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. The afternoon is yours to explore at leisure. As the day draws to an end, we'll arrange a transfer to the charming Trastevere district, renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and delightful dining options, ensuring you have a memorable evening experiencing local cuisine before returning to the hotel around 8:30 pm.
Day 11 - Rome - Florence
As we depart from Rome and head north, you'll marvel at the captivating scenery that unfolds along our route. Upon reaching Florence, we begin with a visit to the magnificent Piazzale Michelangelo, offering panoramic views that highlight the city's beauty. Following this, we will stroll towards the historic centre, where you can pause for lunch before embarking on a guided walking tour. Our local expert will lead you through the city's celebrated landmarks, including the iconic Ponte Vecchio, the impressive Duomo, and the bustling Piazza della Signoria. Wandering through Florence truly feels like exploring an open-air museum. After our guided tour, you'll have free time to delve further into the city at your own pace. As evening approaches, Florence's vibrant dining scene awaits, offering an array of international cuisines to satisfy any culinary curiosity.
Day 12 - Florence - Venice
Today, we'll journey through the enchanting mountain landscapes of the Apennines before reaching the beautiful city of Venice. We'll cross the Giudecca Canal by boat to the Island of Venice, where our local guide will lead us through the iconic St. Mark's Square, an architectural wonder steeped in history. Our visit continues with a tour of the renowned Murano Glass Factory, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship of this unique glasswork. Following this, you'll have some free time to explore Venice at your leisure, soaking in its rich atmosphere and discovering hidden gems. Your accommodation for the night will be in the Mestre district.
Day 13 - Venice - Innsbruck - Salzburg
Today we depart from Venice as we set our sights on Austria. Upon arrival in Innsbruck, spend some time exploring the historic city centre and savour lunch in the charming capital of the Tyrol region. In the afternoon, prepare to be enchanted as we travel along scenic routes through the majestic mountains to the picturesque village of Kitzb�hel. Renowned as a famous ski resort, Kitzb�hel offers delightful experiences year-round. Continue your journey as we proceed to Salzburg, where we will arrive by evening � a city famed for its musical heritage and charming old town. Please note, for smaller groups, we may instead travel by train from Venice to Innsbruck.
Day 14 - Salzburg - Lake Traunsee - Vienna
Today, immerse yourself in the cultural richness of Austria. Our morning begins in Salzburg, the city famously linked with Mozart. You'll explore its elegant Renaissance and Baroque old town, all nestled beneath the imposing fortress. Our adventure continues with a journey through stunning alpine scenery to St. Wolfgang, a celebrated pilgrimage destination known for its picturesque beauty. From there, we travel to Traunkirchen, situated by the serene Lake Traunsee. Here, you can enjoy an included boat cruise, offering views of the lake's enchanting castles, before disembarking in Gmunden. We'll then make our way to Vienna, where we'll arrive in the evening, ready to embrace the allure of this vibrant city.
Day 15 - Vienna
Today, we will embark on a panoramic tour of Vienna, a city renowned for its magnificent architecture and cultural elegance. With a local guide, we will explore its grand avenues, splendid palaces, expansive parks, and vibrant city centre. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisure�wander the charming streets, visit a museum, or relax in one of the city's famous coffee houses. In the evening, we will organise a transfer to the Grinzing district, once a traditional wine-growing village and now a lively part of the city, known for its cosy taverns. Enjoy some free time exploring this delightful area and perhaps indulge in a traditional Austrian meal.
Day 16 - Vienna - Budapest
Following a three-hour journey, we will reach Budapest, the vibrant capital of Hungary. Our first stop will be the bustling V�ci utca, where you will have some leisure time to enjoy lunch. Afterwards, we will take a scenic boat ride on the Danube River, with the historic Buda hills on one side and the lively Pest on the other, offering unbeatable views of this magnificent city. Our exploration continues with a panoramic tour of Budapest, often called the "Queen of the Danube," showcasing its stunning architecture and rich history. You will have some additional free time for your own explorations. In the evening, we offer an optional excursion to a traditional Magyar show, complete with dinner, for those interested.
Day 17 - Budapest - Bratislava - Prague
Departing early from Budapest, we set course for Bratislava, the charming capital of Slovakia nestled along the Danube River. Once there, you'll have leisure time to wander through its attractive historic centre, absorbing the vibrant atmosphere and perhaps pausing for lunch. After enjoying the delights of Bratislava, our journey continues to the Czech Republic. We aim to arrive in Prague by the evening and will ensure your smooth transfer to the iconic Old Town Square. Here, amid its lively ambience, you'll find ample opportunity to dine, with restaurants offering a diverse range of international cuisines, from traditional Czech to Chinese, Indian, and Italian. Later, at your convenience, we'll return to the hotel, concluding an enriching day of exploration.
Day 18 - Prague
Today, we fully immerse ourselves in the enchanting capital of the Czech Republic, Prague, often described as the Baroque gem of Europe. Our knowledgeable local guide will take us on an engaging panoramic tour of the city, showcasing its remarkable monuments and rich history. A highlight of the day will be our visit to Prague Castle, an iconic landmark where entrance fees are covered. Following our castle visit, we'll enjoy a leisurely boat ride on the Vltava River, providing a unique perspective of the city's striking architecture and landscapes. Today, we embark on an early morning departure from Prague and head to Pilsen, nestled in the western region of Bohemia. Known worldwide for its beer, Pilsen offers you the chance to explore its charming historic centre. Take a leisurely stroll through the Old Town Square, admire the architectural beauty of the cathedral, and absorb the history embodied by the Plague Column and the Renaissance-style town hall.After our exploration in Pilsen, we cross the border into Germany, tracing a section of the fabled Romantic Road. Our journey takes us to Rothenburg, a town that feels as though it has been lifted from the pages of a fairy tale, renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture. Rothenburg is recognised as one of Germany's most picturesque villages, inviting exploration at every turn.From Rothenburg, we continue to Frankfurt, Germany's financial powerhouse. Day 20 - Frankfurt - Cruise on the Rhine - Cologne - Amsterdam
