Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival at the airport, we'll arrange for your transfer to the hotel, where you can settle in and enjoy some downtime before our adventure begins. For information regarding the welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travellers, please check the details posted in the hotel reception area. In the evening, we will offer a transfer to the vibrant Plaza Mayor and the lively neighbourhood of La Latina, famed for its tapas bars and buzzing nightlife. Here, you may choose to treat yourself to dinner at a restaurant of your choosing, with options ranging from Indian and Chinese to Spanish and Middle Eastern cuisine. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
Your second day in Madrid begins with an extensive exploration of the city's central highlights. We will take you on a tour showcasing the grandeur of Paseo del Prado, the elegant Cibeles and Neptuno squares, the historic Puerta de Alcal, the vibrant Plaza de Coln, and the bustling Plaza Mayor. Following this, we'll wander through Retiro Park, Madrid's serene green oasis, where you can admire the picturesque lake and the stunning Palacio de Cristal. A visit to the Santiago Bernabu Stadium is also on the itinerary, granting you entry to the iconic home of Real Madrid, acclaimed as one of the world's top football clubs. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure, to perhaps delve deeper into Madrid's offerings or simply relax. In the evening, a convenient transfer will take you back to your hotel, wrapping up a day filled with cultural and historical wonders.
Day 3 - Madrid - Granada
On the third day of our journey, we will depart early from Madrid, setting off southwards through the captivating region of La Mancha. Our first stop will be the charming village of Puerto Lpice, reminiscent of the tales of Don Quixote. Continuing our journey into the heart of Andalusia via the Despeaperros Natural Park, we will arrive in Granada, where lunch will be provided. In the afternoon, those who have opted for the excursion to the Alhambra will have the chance to explore this magnificent palace complex along with the enchanting Generalife Gardens. Both date back to the period of Arab rule and hold a special place in Spain's rich historical tapestry. A local guide will lead us through these splendid sites.Please note that the Alhambra adheres to strict visitor regulations. To secure entry, tickets are issued upon tour confirmation, requiring accurate personal detailsincluding full name and passport or ID numberat the time of booking. Be aware that ticket fees are non-refundable in case of cancellation. In the event that a visit to the Alhambra is unavailable, we will instead tour the Royal Alczar of Seville, renowned for its similar historical and architectural significance.
Day 4 - Granada - Tangier - Asilah - Rabat
Leaving Granada behind, we embark on a scenic journey along the beautiful Costa del Sol. Upon reaching Algeciras or Tarifa, we will board a modern ferry to traverse the Strait of Gibraltar ferry tickets are included. Please note that you will need to carry your own luggage, as the bus does not make this crossing. Once in Morocco, our journey unfolds through striking landscapes, leading us to Asilah. Known for its history as a fortified port and former pirate haven, Asilah is now a vibrant coastal city with a charming walled old town. Here, you'll have some time for lunch and exploration. Afterwards, we'll continue our travels to Rabat, where we will enjoy an included dinner upon arrival.
Day 5 - Rabat - Casablanca - El Jadida - Safi
Our journey on day five begins with a city tour of Rabat, where we explore the impressive Royal Palace, the Mohamed V Mausoleum, and the formidable Kasbah of the Udayas. Around midday, we will set off for Casablanca. Here, we enjoy a brief yet insightful tour of the city, including an external visit to the renowned Hassan II Mosque, regarded as one of the most significant in the Arab world. Afterwards, you will have some free time to enjoy lunch along "La Corniche," a pleasant seaside area.Post-lunch, our travels take us to El Jadida, a town with its roots in Portuguese history. Its citadel, known as Mazagan, is a World Heritage Site, famous for its commanding ocean views, picturesque streets, and remnants of its Portuguese past, such as the Manueline-style Church of the Assumption. We will explore the citadels charming alleys and include access to the 16th-century old cisternalthough currently closed for restoration, it is anticipated to reopen later in the season. Our day concludes as we journey to Safi, aiming to arrive by evening. Dinner will be provided as we settle in after a day of cultural immersion and exploration.
Day 6 - Safi - Essaouira - Agadir
Today, our exploration of Morocco continues with a visit to Safi, a city famed for its exquisite ceramics. With their vibrant colours, these ceramics are highly esteemed across the country. Our excursion will include photographing the Castle of the Sea and its formidable fortress walls, along with a leisurely stroll through the enchanting Medina. We will also visit the Hill of the Potters, where numerous shops showcase the region's renowned craftsmanship.Following our time in Safi, we proceed to Essaouira. This coastal city, with its walled Medina facing the sea, is celebrated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known for its artistic allure, Essaouira is a haven for artists and painters alike. During your free time here, you may choose to enjoy lunch and explore its narrow streets, where whitewashed houses and robust walls are constantly kissed by the waves.After enjoying Essaouira, we will continue our journey along the Atlantic coast, marvelling at the stunning landscapes that unfold before us. Well make a brief stop in the charming fishing town of Taghazout, beloved by surfers for its unique character.Our day will conclude as we arrive in Agadir by evening. Dinner will be provided, allowing us to relax and recount the day's adventures.
Day 7 - Agadir - Marrakech
On the seventh day, you'll have the morning to yourself to unwind at Agadir, Morocco's most beloved beach destination. Whether you choose to lounge on the seemingly endless sandy shores, take a leisurely stroll along the seafront, or browse the local shops, this vibrant city has something for everyone. Following lunch, we'll embark on a scenic journey through the stunning landscapes of the Atlas Mountains to reach Marrakech. Once we arrive and check into the hotel, you can enjoy a traditional Kalesa ride to the iconic Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Renowned for its bustling atmosphere, this vibrant hub offers a glimpse into the dynamic local culture. We'll conclude the evening with an included dinner, setting the stage for our adventures in this captivating city.
Day 8 - Marrakech
Today, we delve into the enchanting city of Marrakech, a place renowned for giving its name to the entire country. Our guided city tour will lead us through the city's historic walls and into the bustling atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fnaa square, known for its vibrant energy. We'll also explore the Medina, the Koutoubia Mosque, and the exquisite Bahia Palace, with admission included. After the tour, you are free to enjoy lunch, which is also included, and then relax by the hotel pool or unwind in the garden. Alternatively, perhaps you'd like to explore the lively souks for some shopping. This evening, an optional excursion offers the chance to join the Fantasy Party, promising an evening of entertainment and cultural immersion.
Day 9 - Marrakech - Ouzoud Falls - Fez
Today, we embark on a memorable journey, setting off early towards the picturesque Ouzoud Falls. Situated in the Middle Atlas mountains, these waterfalls, standing at 110 metres, are the tallest in North Africa and provide a serene natural setting. Upon arrival, we'll enjoy a delightful short boat trip that takes us close to the falls and then indulge in lunch at a restaurant boasting spectacular views of this natural wonder. Keep an eye out for the resident macaques, playful Moroccan monkeys that inhabit the area. Our adventure continues as we traverse the Southern Atlas, ultimately reaching Fez. Depending on the daylight, we might have the chance to visit the Marinid tombs and appreciate a panoramic view of the city. If time doesn't permit, we'll save this enchanting experience for the next day. Dinner is included, allowing you to unwind and reflect on the day's explorations.
Day 10 - Fez - Tangier
Today, we delve into the cultural heart of Fez, starting with a tour that takes us through the Royal Palaces majestic Bronze Gates. As we explore the vibrant Jewish quarter and bustling souks, take in the sights and sounds of the Tanners' Quarter, known for its vibrant displays of leatherwork. Fez, endowed with a rich heritage, is famed for its Medina, preserving an authentic Arabian atmosphere unrivalled in the region. Our visit concludes with lunch at an historic palace within the Medina, offering a taste of the city's past. In the afternoon, we journey northwards along a modern highway, with our destination being Tangier, where we will arrive by evening. Dinner is included, providing a perfect end to a day rich in cultural discovery.
Day 11 - Tangier - Seville
Today, you have free time in Tangier for any last-minute shopping or exploration before we set off on our return journey to Spain. You will need to carry your luggage onboard the modern ferry as the bus will not accompany us across the Straits of Gibraltar. Upon arrival in either Algeciras or Tarifa, we will continue by bus to Seville, reaching the vibrant Andalusian capital in the evening, where dinner will be provided.
Day 12 - Seville
In the morning, well embark on an enlightening tour of Seville, a city brimming with rich history and culture. Our exploration will take us to the majestic cathedral, home to the renowned Giralda bell tower. We'll then make our way along the banks of the Guadalquivir River, passing through the enchanting neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana, each with its own unique charm. Following this, you can unwind with a relaxing boat ride on the Guadalquivir River, providing stunning panoramic views of the cityscape. As the day transitions into evening, you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in local culture at a lively flamenco tablao, should you choose to attend.
Day 13 - Seville - Merida - Evora - Lisbon
We depart Seville, making our way through the picturesque landscapes of rolling hills and sprawling pastures as we journey towards Extremadura. Our first stop is in Mrida, where you'll gain entry to the Archaeological Ensemble of Mrida. This remarkable site boasts a well-preserved Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre, both recognised as a World Heritage Site. Enjoy some leisure time for lunch and explore the vibrant pedestrianised historic centre, known for its enticing restaurants and local character. Our adventure continues across the border into Portugal, where we will pause in vora, another World Heritage Site. This city is famed for its whitewashed streets, Renaissance palaces, and impressive cathedral. We conclude our day with an evening arrival in Lisbon.
Day 14 - Lisbon
Today, we'll embark on a captivating tour of Lisbon, the city famed for its seven hills. As we wander through its enchanting alleys, you'll experience the city's unique charm, adorned with its famous tiles and distinctive "saudade" a melancholic longing deeply intertwined with Portuguese culture. We will also delve into the historic Belem neighbourhood, a significant site from where the intrepid Portuguese explorers once embarked on their voyages across the oceans during the 15th century. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure, offering a chance to stroll through the Bairro Alto with its splendid views, or, should you wish, join an optional excursion to the picturesque towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. As evening falls, we'll return to our hotel from the bustling Restauradores Square, a vibrant hub brimming with lively bars and inviting cafes.
Day 15 - Lisbon
Following breakfast, our journey concludes, leaving you with fond memories of your adventures and experiences. Safe travels as you embark on your next adventure.
