Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival at the airport, we will be ready to transfer you to your hotel. You will have some leisure time until our tour officially begins. Keep an eye out for the information signs in the hotel reception, which will provide details about the welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travellers. In the evening, we will take you to Plaza Mayor and La Latina, renowned for their lively nightlife and array of tapas restaurants. You can choose to dine at a restaurant of your preference, with options including Indian, Chinese, Spanish, and Middle Eastern cuisines. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
Your second day in Madrid begins with an in-depth exploration of the city's vibrant heart. We will guide you through the bustling streets and iconic landmarks such as the Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and Plaza Mayor, offering a snapshot of the city's rich history and culture. Our tour continues with a visit to Retiro Park, a serene retreat in the midst of the city where you can admire the picturesque lake and the architectural gem that is the Palacio de Cristal. Included in your day is admission to the Santiago Bernabu Stadium, the renowned home of Real Madrid football club. Often hailed as the best football club globally, this visit offers a glimpse into the passion and prestige of Spanish football. After this, the afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisureperhaps explore more of Madrid's lively streets or unwind in one of its many quaint cafs. In the evening, we will arrange for a comfortable transfer back to your hotel, allowing you to savour your day in Madrid fully.
Day 3 - Madrid - Granada
We set off from Madrid early in the morning, travelling south through the region of La Mancha. Our initial stop is the quaint village of Puerto Lpice, full of character and reminiscent of the scenes from Don Quixote. Continuing our journey, we venture into Andalusia via the scenic Despeaperros. Upon arriving in Granada, we'll pause for lunch, which is included. In the afternoon, if you've opted for the visit, we head to the Alhambra Palace and its renowned Generalife Gardens. Both were constructed during the Arab period and are rich in historical significance. A local guide will accompany us to enhance your experience. Please note: the number of visitors to the Alhambra is strictly controlled by law, requiring precise personal information when booking your tour. Tickets are non-refundable. Should entry not be possible, an alternative visit to the Royal Alczar of Seville, with its own historical and architectural appeal, will be arranged instead.
Day 4 - Granada - Tangier - Asilah - Rabat
Departing from Granada, we will journey along the stunning Costa del Sol. Upon reaching either Algeciras or Tarifa, we'll board a modern ferry to cross the Strait of Gibraltarferry tickets are included. Its important to note that you will need to carry your own luggage on this leg of the journey, as the bus does not make the crossing. Once we arrive in Morocco, our travels will take us through captivating landscapes with our first stop in Asilah. This delightful walled city, perched on the Atlantic coast, boasts a vibrant atmosphere despite its past as a historic port and pirate refuge. You'll have time to enjoy lunch here before we continue to Rabat, where an included dinner awaits upon our arrival.
Day 5 - Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakech
On day five, our adventure starts with a panoramic tour of Rabat, Morocco's capital. You'll visit the impressive Royal Palace, the revered Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the imposing Kasbah of the Udayas. Around midday, we'll continue to Casablanca, where you'll have a brief city tour led by a local guide. This tour includes an exterior visit to the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest and most remarkable mosques in the Arab world. In the afternoon, we head towards Marrakech. After settling into your hotel, you can enjoy a traditional Kalesa ride to the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Dinner is included, providing an opportunity to savour local delicacies.
Day 6 - Marrakech
Today, we delve into the captivating city of Marrakech, regarded as one of the world's most intriguing destinations. Our guided tour takes us through the city's formidable walls and the lively Jemaa el-Fnaa square, a vibrant hub filled with activity. We'll venture into the historic Medina, admire the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, and explore the exquisite Bahia Palace, with tickets included in your itinerary. Following this, you'll enjoy a leisurely lunch, after which you can unwind by the pool or take a stroll in the hotel's garden. Alternatively, you might wish to shop in the bustling souks. In the evening, you're free to join an optional excursion known as the Fantasy Party. This excursion, however, is not included in the main programme.
Day 7 - Marrakech - Ait Benhadou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne Dades
On day seven, we will embark on an adventurous journey over the Atlas Mountains, where the snow-capped peaks create a stunning farewell to Marrakech as we depart from its lush palm groves. You'll witness the quaint Berber villages perched on the edges of deep gorges as we make our way through these majestic landscapes. Our travels include a stop at Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and iconic fortress village that has served as a backdrop for numerous films. Continuing through terrains reminiscent of biblical times, we will reach Ouarzazate, known for its commanding Kasbah. We will proceed through the picturesque Valley of Roses, eventually arriving in Boumalne Dades, where dinner awaits. Please note that during the winter months, road closures due to snow may require us to adjust this itinerary accordingly. Access to the Sahara Desert is contingent upon road conditions.
Day 8 - Boumalne Dades - Todgha - Erfoud
On Day 8, we embark on an exhilarating journey through the striking landscapes of the Sahara Desert. We venture through the Valley of the Kasbahs, a stunning route lined by river valleys and framed by countless palm trees. As we travel, the rocky plains seamlessly transform into lush oases, punctuated by adobe villages and imposing fortresses that once safeguarded ancient trade routes. A highlight of our day is the awe-inspiring Todgha Gorge, a majestic canyon with sheer rock walls towering over 100 metres on either side.Along the way, we pause at a small adobe settlement near Khorbat, where you have the opportunity to learn about the local desert community. (Access may be influenced by weather conditions, such as river flooding.) We continue our journey towards Erfoud. For those seeking adventure, an optional off-road excursion is availableoffering a captivating sunset over the Sahara Desert's sand dunes. A delightful lunch is included in our day.
Day 9 - Erfoud - Fez
Today, we embark on an early start from Erfoud, setting out to cross the captivating Atlas Mountains once more. Our route takes us through dramatic gorges and awe-inspiring landscapes. As we venture across a high, chilly plateau, keep an eye out for nomadic shepherds who call this region home. Our journey brings us to Midelt, a bustling commercial town nestled in the heart of the region, renowned for its agriculture. Continuing onward, we pause for a delightful lunch (included) in the Middle Atlas, surrounded by a beautiful natural backdrop by a lake. As the scenery transforms, we find ourselves in a forest-rich area where snowfall is a common winter spectacle. Our next stop is near Azrou at the "House of Cedars," part of a national park. This small museum offers fascinating insights into the local region, and you may get the chance to observe the lively colonies of monkeys residing there. Progressing further, we arrive at Bhalil, a small and serene town inhabited by Berbers of the Middle Atlas. The town is charming, with its vibrant, colourful streets of the old town. Historically, many people lived in caves here, which are now seamlessly integrated into their homes. Our final stop for the day is Fez. Before we settle into our hotel, we'll take in the breathtaking views of the ancient city from the Marinid Tombs. Dinner will be included as we conclude another remarkable day of exploration.
Day 10 - Fez - Tangier
Today, we will delve into the vibrant city of Fez, beginning with an exploration of the Royal Palace's impressive Bronze Gates. We will navigate through the historic Jewish quarter, bustling souks, and the renowned Tanners Quarter. Fez, celebrated as the cultural heart of Morocco, offers an unmatched glimpse into the preserved traditional Arab atmosphere, particularly within its famous Medina. Our morning will conclude with a delightful lunch at a historic palace nestled in the Medina. In the afternoon, we set off on a modern highway journey northwards, arriving in Tangier by the evening. Dinner will be provided, capping off a day of rich cultural experiences.
Day 11 - Tangier - Seville
Enjoy some free time in Tangier today perfect for any last-minute shopping or exploration at your leisure. Later, we'll take a ferry back to Spain. Please note that the bus will not accompany us on the ferry, so youll need to manage your luggage during the crossing. Upon arrival in either Algeciras or Tarifa, we'll continue our journey to Seville, arriving in the evening where a welcoming dinner awaits.
Day 12 - Seville
We begin the day with a guided tour of Seville, where you'll marvel at the city's stunning cathedral, famous for its Giralda tower. Our exploration will also take us to the banks of the Guadalquivir River and through the lively neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana, each offering a unique glimpse into Seville's rich culture and history. Following the city tour, you'll be treated to a relaxing boat ride on the Guadalquivir River, providing breathtaking panoramic views of the city's landmarks. In the evening, why not immerse yourself in the vibrant local culture by attending a traditional flamenco show at a popular tablao? It's an optional experience that promises to cap off your day in Seville with passion and rhythm.
Day 13 - Seville - Cordoba - Consuegra - Madrid
Well depart from Seville, journeying along the Guadalquivir Valley towards Crdoba, a city renowned for its historical significance as the capital of the Caliphate during the Islamic era. In Crdoba, a local guide will lead us through the awe-inspiring MosqueCathedral, with your entrance tickets already covered. As we continue our exploration, well wander the enchanting Jewish Quarter, a maze of narrow streets and picturesque, flower-adorned patios that capture the essence of the city. Following lunch, well travel north to the heart of Castilian lands, making a stop in Consuegra. Here, you'll encounter the iconic sight of twelve towering windmills standing guard beside the imposing castle over the vast plains of La Mancha, immortalised by Cervantes Don Quixote. Our visit includes the Rucio Mill, before we head back to Madrid to conclude our day.
Day 14 - Madrid
Following breakfast, our journey concludes, leaving you with a wealth of unforgettable memories from your travels.
