Day 1 - Barcelona
Welcome to your tour! Upon arrival in vibrant Barcelona, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel. After checking in, feel free to enjoy some leisure time to rest or explore the surroundings at your own pace. In the afternoon, make sure to check the hotel reception boards for important information about the commencement of our tour. This first day offers a wonderful opportunity to unwind and get a feel for the dynamic atmosphere of this iconic city. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Barcelona - Girona
On the second day of our journey, we will begin by exploring the captivating City of Counts, Barcelona. This vibrant metropolis, nestled along the Mediterranean coast, is renowned for its unique blend of historical and modernist architecture, exemplified by Gaud's masterpieces. Our morning will be filled with the liveliness of Las Ramblas and the echoes of its rich history, from the grandeur of the Universal Exposition to the energetics of the Olympics. As one of Europe's most beautiful capitals, Barcelona offers an intriguing mix that never fails to captivate visitors.In the evening, we will set off from Barcelona, heading north into the picturesque region of Catalonia. Our destination is the charming town of Girona, where we'll enjoy a leisurely walk through its historic centre. Known for its vibrant, colourful houses lining the river, Girona also boasts one of the best-preserved Jewish quarters in Europe and an impressive cathedral. Before retiring for the night, we'll immerse ourselves in the city's captivating history and charm.
Day 3 - Girona - Carrieres des Lumieres - Chambery
Today, we set off towards France, travelling through the beautiful Provence region. Our first stop is Arles, a small city that holds UNESCO World Heritage status, famous for its association with the artist Vincent van Gogh. While in Arles, we will visit the intriguing Roman theatre and explore charming Romanesque churches. After soaking up the local atmosphere and enjoying lunch, we continue our journey to the awe-inspiring Carrires des Lumires. Here, an extraordinary underground art display awaits, featuring mesmerising images and sound in an ancient quarry setting. If tickets to this captivating experience are unavailable, we will instead visit the iconic Pont du Gard, a remarkable Roman aqueduct. As evening approaches, we'll arrive in Chambry, the enchanting capital of Savoy, where the medieval charm of its historic centre and grand castle awaits us for a pleasant evening.
Day 4 - Chambery - Geneva - Gruyeres - Leysin
Today, we embark on our journey to Switzerland, arriving in the cosmopolitan city of Geneva. Accompanied by our guide, we'll visit the Palais des Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations. We shall also enjoy a stroll through the picturesque English Garden, famous for its vibrant flower clock, and admire the splendid Jet d'Eau, the tallest fountain in Europe.Our next stop is the enchanting village of Gruyres, celebrated globally for its exquisite cheese. While in the area, we have included an indulgent visit to the Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory, providing you with the opportunity to savour a delightful tasting experience. Continuing our drive along scenic routes, we pass through Switzerland's idyllic landscapes, dotted with charming villages and majestic mountains, as we make our way to Chillon Castle, majestically perched on the shores of Lake Geneva. Admission is included, allowing for an enchanting exploration of this historic site.We conclude our day by making our way to Leysin, a delightful resort village offering panoramic views of the Rhne Valley and Mont Blanc. Known for its winter sports and hiking trails, Leysin promises a refreshing retreat. Tonight, a hearty dinner awaits us. Please note, depending on availability, our accommodation may be situated in another picturesque Swiss town nestled within the Alps, such as Martigny.
Day 5 - Leysin - Interlaken - Lucerne - Zurich
As we bask in the stunning mountain views, make sure to pack your warm clothing for an unforgettable adventure today. We'll take a breathtaking cable car ride up to Glacier 3000, a spectacular Swiss location surrounded by year-round ice and snow. Once there, youll have the chance to walk across a suspended bridge connecting two mountain peaks, explore the enchanting Ice Cathedral, or enjoy the Fun Park. Following this, we'll make our way to Interlaken for lunch, surrounded by the magnificent Alpine panorama. Our journey then leads us to Lucerne, recognised as one of Switzerland's most picturesque cities. Later in the evening, we'll arrive in Zurich, providing you with some time to explore the lively city centre before we transition to our hotel. Please note, should the Glacier 3000 cable car be inaccessible due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, we will arrange an equally exhilarating alternative experience amidst the Alpine landscapes.
Day 6 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
We will set off from Zurich early as we journey across the picturesque Alps into the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Our first stop is Bellinzona, famed for its trio of medieval castles, proudly designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. These fortresses stand atop the hills, offering a glimpse into Bellinzona's strategic importance as a key Alpine stronghold. You will have some free time to meander through the enchanting streets of the town centre. Our travels continue into Italy, where we will pause in the delightful town of Como for lunch. Often referred to as the jewel of Lombardy, Como is celebrated for its exquisite gardens lining the lake and its magnificent cathedral. We will then make our way to Milan, where our guide will lead us to the impressive Piazza del Duomo. There will be time to explore at your leisure before we proceed to your hotel for the evening.
Day 7 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
Today, we embark on a journey to Pisa. Upon arrival, we'll take a leisurely ride on a small tourist train to the Piazza dei Miracoli, famously known as the Square of Miracles. Here, you'll have the opportunity to marvel at one of Italy's most iconic architectural ensembles, featuring the renowned Leaning Tower of Pisa. After taking in the stunning surroundings, we'll continue our travels to Rome, where we will arrive later in the day.
Day 8 - Rome
The day in Rome begins with a comprehensive three-hour guided exploration of the Eternal City, combining both a walking tour through Imperial Rome and a panoramic bus ride. Recognised as one of the oldest and most influential cities in Western civilisation, Rome offers a magnificent wealth of history and architecture. During our guided tour, we will visit iconic sites such as the Arch of Constantine, the magnificent exterior of the Colosseum, the Imperial Forums, and enjoy views of the Circus Maximus. We will also pass by the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius, and the storied Castel Sant'Angelo. The tour will conclude around 11:00 a.m. at Vatican City, where you will have the option to continue with an additional visit to the Vatican Museums and the renowned Sistine Chapel. Later in the day, we will provide a transfer to the lively Trastevere neighbourhood, famed for its quaint restaurants and vibrant atmosphere. You will have time to soak in the local ambience before we return to the hotel at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Day 9 - Rome - Florence
On our ninth day, we depart Rome, making our way north and enjoying the picturesque scenery en route to Florence. Upon arriving in this iconic city, we head straight to Piazzale Michelangelo, where you'll be greeted with stunning panoramic views of Florence's famed skyline. Following this, we proceed on foot toward the historic centre. After taking some time for lunch, we embark on a guided tour led by a local expert, exploring significant landmarks such as the Ponte Vecchio, the impressive Duomo, and the vibrant Piazza della Signoria. Known as an 'open-air museum,' Florence's rich artistic and architectural heritage is on full display. Later, you'll enjoy some free time to discover more of the city's charm at your own pace. As evening falls, you'll find a variety of dining options offering diverse international cuisines in this bustling district.
Day 10 - Florence - Venice
Today we will travel through the enchanting mountain landscapes as we traverse the Apennines on our way to Venice. Upon arrival, we will take a boat ride across the Giudecca Canal to the island of Venice. Here, our local guide will lead us to explore the splendid St. Mark's Square, a hallmark of Venetian grandeur. After our visit, we will witness the remarkable craftsmanship at the Murano Glass Factory, where you will be introduced to the age-old techniques used in glass-making. You will have some free time afterwards to wander the charming streets at your leisure. Our accommodation for the night will be situated in the Mestre district.
Day 11 - Venice - Innsbruck - Salzburg
Today, we'll set off from Venice and make our way to Austria. Our first stop is Innsbruck, the charming capital of Tyrol, where you will have time to wander through its historic city centre and enjoy a leisurely lunch. Innsbruck, nestled in the heart of the Alps, offers a delightful mix of tradition and modernity. Later, we continue our scenic journey through picturesque mountain roads leading to Kitzbhel, a renowned ski resort famous for its enchanting village atmosphere and almost year-round snow. Enjoy some time to explore and take in the surrounding beauty. Our day concludes in Salzburg, where we will arrive by evening. Please note, if our group is small, we might opt for a train journey from Venice to Innsbruck.
Day 12 - Salzburg - Lake Traunsee - Vienna
Today, we delve deeper into the enchanting country of Austria. Our morning begins in Salzburg, famously known as the birthplace of Mozart. This city, with its stunning Renaissance and Baroque architecture, is set against the backdrop of a majestic castle. After exploring Salzburg, we head through scenic lakes and mountains to St. Wolfgang, a revered pilgrimage destination in Austria. Next, we visit Traunkirchen, beautifully situated on the edge of Traunsee Lake. Here, we'll enjoy a relaxing cruise to admire four of the lake's magnificent castles, before making our way to Gmunden. Our day concludes with a journey to Vienna, where we'll arrive by evening, ready to experience the vibrant charm of Austria's capital.
Day 13 - Vienna
Today, we will embark on a panoramic tour of Vienna, exploring this magnficent city's grand boulevards, stunning palaces, and expansive parks with the guidance of a local expert. The majestic architecture and lively city centre reflect Viennas rich cultural heritage and artistic legacy. In the afternoon, you're free to wander the city's charming streets at your leisure, perhaps visiting a museum or enjoying a coffee at one of Vienna's famous cafes. As evening approaches, well take you to the Grinzing district, where traditional wine taverns, known as heurigers, offer an authentic Austrian dining experience. Youll have the opportunity to savour local dishes and perhaps enjoy a glass of the regions renowned wine in this atmospheric village setting.
Day 14 - Vienna - Budapest
After approximately three hours of travel, we will reach Budapest, the vibrant capital of Hungary. Our first visit will be to Vci Utca, a bustling street where you will have some free time to have lunch and browse the local shops. Following this, we will embark on an included boat trip along the Danube River, which elegantly divides the historic Buda from the cosmopolitan Pest. The views from the water are unparalleled. Once back on land, we will commence a panoramic tour of Budapest, affectionately known as the "Queen of the Danube," showcasing its most significant landmarks. Afterwards, you will have some leisure time to further explore the city at your own pace. In the evening, we offer an optional outing to a traditional Magyar show complete with dinner, providing an atmospheric end to your day.
Day 15 - Budapest - Bratislava - Prague
We will start our day early in Budapest, heading towards Bratislava, Slovakia's capital, beautifully situated along the Danube. You will have time to wander through its enticing historic centre and enjoy lunch. Later, well continue our journey to the Czech Republic, reaching Prague in the evening. A transfer will take us to the Old Town Square, a bustling area that offers a perfect introduction to Prague's vibrant atmosphere. You can indulge in dinner at one of the many international restaurants, whether you fancy Czech, Chinese, Indian, or Italian cuisine, before we make our way back to the hotel.
Day 16 - Prague
Today, we'll uncover the treasures of Prague, a city renowned for its Baroque splendour. Our day begins with an engaging panoramic tour led by our knowledgeable local guide, who will introduce you to the city's most remarkable sights. A visit to the majestic Prague Castle is included, providing a glimpse into its storied past. Following the castle visit, we'll enjoy a leisurely boat cruise along the Vltava River, offering a unique perspective of the cityscape. The afternoon is yours to explore Prague at your own pace. Whether you choose to delve into the cobbled streets of the historic centre, discover charming cafes, or visit one of the many museums, your day promises to be filled with discovery and delight.
Day 17 - Prague - Pilsen - Rothenburg - Frankfurt
We'll set off early from Prague and journey to Pilsen, a city in western Bohemia famous for its beer tradition. Take time to explore the historic centre, where you'll discover the Old Town Square, the cathedral, the Plague Column, and a town hall from the Renaissance era. Our travels then take us across the border into Germany, where we follow the picturesque Romantic Road. We'll stop in Rothenburg, a town that seems right out of a fairy tale and is considered one of Germany's most beautiful villages. After our visit, we'll continue to Frankfurt, Germany's financial hub. Following our evening arrival, you'll have free time to explore the historic city centre, which offers a diverse array of restaurants ranging from Indian and Asian to Italian and international cuisines.
Day 18 - Frankfurt - Cruise on the Rhine - Cologne - Amsterdam
Today, we'll embark on a scenic cruise along the most picturesque stretch of the Rhine River, gliding between the charming villages of Rdesheim and St. Goar. This leisurely journey will allow you to soak in the stunning views of the riverbanks dotted with historic castles and lush vineyards. After the cruise, we'll make our way to Cologne, famed for its magnificent Gothic cathedral that stands as a testament to the city's rich heritage. As the day continues, our travels will take us into the Netherlands, where we will arrive in Amsterdam by evening.
Day 19 - Amsterdam
Today, we will immerse ourselves in the quintessential Dutch landscape by visiting some of the most picturesque sites that reflect the idyllic charm of Holland. Our first stop is Zaanse Schans, a place renowned for its traditional windmills, serene canals, and charming cottages. This is a perfect spot to capture the essence of historic Dutch life. Next, we will explore the quaint fishing village of Volendam, known for its vibrant culture and picturesque beauty. From there, we'll board a short boat trip to Marken, an island uniquely connected to the mainland by a dike, where traditional houses are built on stilts to combat the high tides. Day 21 - Berlin
Today, well delve into Berlin's vibrant culture and rich history with a guided tour of Germany's captivating capital.
