Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival at the airport, we'll be there to greet you and transfer you to your hotel. You'll have some free time to settle in and relax until the tour commences. Do make sure to check the information signs at the hotel reception for the details about the welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travellers. In the evening, we'll whisk you away to Plaza Mayor and La Latina, Madrid's bustling districts famous for their vibrant nightlife and excellent tapas restaurants. You'll have the freedom to choose where to dine, with a wide array of culinary options including Indian, Chinese, Spanish, and Middle Eastern delights. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
On your second day in Madrid, we will embark on a captivating tour of the citys vibrant centre. Our morning adventure begins with visits to some of Madrids most notable landmarks, including the Paseo del Prado, Cibeles Square, Neptuno Fountain, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and Plaza Mayor. These iconic sites each contribute to Madrids rich cultural tapestry and offer a glimpse into its historical and architectural significance.Following our exploration of the central highlights, we'll spend time in the enchanting Retiro Park, a verdant retreat in the heart of the city. Here, we'll discover the serene lake and the striking Palacio de Cristal, a glass pavilion that stands as a testament to 19th-century architectural innovation.After our morning explorations, we have included admission for a visit to the captivating Santiago Bernabu Stadium, home to the renowned Real Madrid football club. This stadium is hallowed ground for football enthusiasts and offers insight into the club's storied legacy.The afternoon gives you the freedom to delve deeper into the city at your leisure, whether you choose to explore more of its hidden gems or simply unwind and relish in the local ambiance. In the evening, we will arrange a comfortable return transfer to your hotel.
Day 3 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
We will set off in the morning, venturing into the heart of Aragon via the historic lands of Castile. Our first stop is Zaragoza, where we'll admire the magnificent Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, a revered landmark with its stunning Baroque architecture. After soaking in the atmosphere of Zaragoza, we'll continue to Poblet Abbey, a tranquil site nestled in the countryside. As one of the world's most well-preserved medieval monasteries, Poblet offers a serene glimpse into the past, and admission is included in our visit. Our journey will then take us to the vibrant city of Barcelona, where we'll arrive in the evening.
Day 4 - Barcelona - Girona
In the morning, we'll set off to explore Barcelona, known as the City of Counts. This lively city sits along the Mediterranean Sea and boasts an array of attractions. We'll delve into its modernist wonders, including Gauds architectural masterpieces, wander through the bustling Ramblas, and uncover its rich history, which has been celebrated through events like the Universal Exposition and the Olympics. With its unique charm, Barcelona is undoubtedly one of Europe's most captivating capitals. In the evening, we'll journey northward into the region of Catalonia to Girona. Before resting for the night, well take a leisurely walk through Girona's historic centre, famed for its colourful houses, storied Jewish quarter, and remarkable cathedral.
Day 5 - Girona - Carrieres des Lumieres - Chambery
Today, we set off for France, travelling through the picturesque Provence region. Our first stop is Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its historical connection to Vincent van Gogh. In Arles, we can explore the Roman theatre and charming Romanesque churches, and there will be time for you to wander and enjoy lunch at your leisure. Next, we have arranged a visit to the impressive Carrires des Lumires. This fascinating underground art experience offers an immersive display of art, images, and sound within an ancient quarry. If tickets are unavailable due to high demand, rest assured we have an alternative lined upa visit to the Pont du Gard, a remarkable Roman aqueduct.By evening, we will arrive in Chambry, the delightful capital of Savoy. With its medieval charm, lovely historic centre, and large castle, Chambry promises a captivating end to our day.
Day 6 - Chambery - Geneva - Gruyeres - Leysin
We begin our day with a scenic journey into Switzerland, arriving in the cosmopolitan city of Geneva. Here, you'll experience the global influence of the city as we visit the Palais des Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations. Stroll through the picturesque English Garden and marvel at the iconic Flower Clock and the majestic Jet d'Eau, Europe's tallest fountain. Our adventure continues as we explore the charming medieval village of Gruyres, famed for its exquisite cheese. Nearby, you'll indulge in a sweet experience at the Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory, where the art of Swiss chocolate-making culminates in a delightful tasting. From there, we travel through enchanting alpine landscapes, with stunning views of wooden villages nestled in the mountains, en route to the magnificent Chillon Castle on Lake Geneva's shore. Admission to this historical lakeside fortress is included. By mid-afternoon, we arrive in Leysin, a picturesque holiday village perched with splendid views of the Rhne Valley and Mont Blanc. Renowned for its winter sports and hiking opportunities, Leysin offers a stunning backdrop for your evening, complete with an included dinner. Please note that accommodation may occasionally be arranged in a different charming Swiss town in the Alps, such as Martigny, depending on availability.
Day 7 - Leysin - Interlaken - Lucerne - Zurich
Well relish the breathtaking mountain scenery today, so ensure youre well-equipped with warm clothing. Our day begins with a cable car ride up to Glacier 3000, one of the most spectacular locations in Switzerland, where ice and snow prevail throughout the year. Youll have the opportunity to traverse a suspension bridge between two mountain peaks, explore the fascinating Ice Cathedral, and perhaps enjoy some time at the Fun Park. We'll then pause in Interlaken for lunch, offering a moment to appreciate the beautiful surroundings. Our journey continues to Lucerne, one of Switzerland's most picturesque cities, renowned for its stunning lake and mountainous backdrop. As evening falls, we'll head to Zurich, providing you with a chance to explore the centre before retiring to the hotel. Please note that if weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent the operation of the Glacier 3000 cable car, a similarly impressive alternative will be arranged to ensure you continue to enjoy the incredible alpine vistas.
Day 8 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
We begin our day by departing Zurich early in the morning, making our way across the stunning Alpine landscape to the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Our first destination is Bellinzona, famed for its trio of medieval castles, recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nestled on the hills, these fortifications offer a glimpse into Bellinzona's storied past as a vital alpine stronghold. You'll have some leisure time to explore the charming streets of Bellinzona's centre.Next, we cross into Italy, arriving in the picturesque town of Como for lunch. Known as the jewel of Lombardy, Como enchants with its magnificent lakeside gardens and striking cathedral. After enjoying the serene beauty of Como, we'll proceed to Milan. Here, our guide will lead us to the iconic Piazza del Duomo, where you can soak up the vibrant atmosphere before we transfer you to your hotel for the evening.
Day 9 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
We depart Milan this morning, setting our sights on the historic city of Pisa. On arrival, a small tourist train will whisk us to the renowned Piazza dei Miracoli, or Square of Miracles. Here, youll have ample time to explore a site celebrated for its stunning blend of architecture and art, with the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa standing as the centrepiece. Later, we will continue our journey towards Rome, arriving in the evening.
Day 10 - Rome
In the morning, we will embark on a three-hour guided exploration of Rome, known as the Eternal City. This tour beautifully combines a walking journey through Imperial Rome with a panoramic bus ride, providing an insightful glimpse into one of the oldest and most influential cities in Western civilisation. During our exploration, well encounter renowned landmarks including the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the Colosseum and the Imperial Forums, while also viewing the Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius, and Castel SantAngelo capturing the grandeur of ancient Rome. Our tour concludes around 11:00 a.m. at Vatican City, where you may opt to continue with a visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel with our guide. Later in the day, we provide a transfer to the vibrant Trastevere neighbourhood, known for its cosy restaurants and lively atmosphere. You will return to the hotel around 8:30 p.m.
Day 11 - Rome - Florence
Today, we depart from Rome, travelling north through picturesque landscapes en route to Florence. Upon arrival, we'll head to the magnificent Piazzale Michelangelo, offering breathtaking views over the city. Following this, we venture into the historic heart of Florence. After lunch, a local expert will guide us on a walking tour, exploring iconic sites such as the Ponte Vecchio, the majestic Duomo, and the vibrant Piazza della Signoria. Florence is often described as an open-air museum, filled with artistic treasures and rich history. You'll have some free time afterwards to explore at your leisure. In the evening, consider dining at one of the district's numerous restaurants, which offer a range of international cuisines.
Day 12 - Florence - Venice
Today, we journey through the captivating mountain landscapes of the Apennines, making our way towards Venice. Upon arrival, well embark on a scenic boat trip across the Giudecca Canal to reach the enchanting Island of Venice. There, a local guide will lead us through the iconic St. Mark's Square, introducing us to the city's rich history and stunning architecture. After our explorations, we'll visit the Murano Glass Factory to witness the age-old techniques of Venetian glassmaking. You'll then have some leisure time to wander the maze-like streets or relax at a caf. This evening, we will be staying in the Mestre district, offering a comfortable base to reflect on the day's adventures.
Day 13 - Venice - Innsbruck - Salzburg
Departing from Venice, we'll make our way to Austria. Our first stop is the charming city of Innsbruck, nestled in the heart of the Austrian Tyrol. Here, you'll have time to wander through the historic city centre and savour a leisurely lunch, perhaps sampling the local cuisine while taking in the stunning Alpine landscapes. Afterward, we'll continue our journey through picturesque mountain roads until we reach the delightful village of Kitzbhel. Known for its world-class ski resorts, this village offers a charming atmosphere and the allure of its snow-covered peaks for most of the year. Enjoy some free time to explore the picturesque streets and appreciate the beautiful surroundings. Our journey will then take us to the enchanting city of Salzburg, arriving by the end of the day. Note that if the group is small, we may opt for a scenic train journey instead of a bus ride.
Day 14 - Salzburg - Lake Traunsee - Vienna
We will delve into the heart of Austria, beginning our journey in the enchanting city of Salzburg, known as the birthplace of Mozart. This morning, explore its Renaissance and Baroque heart, dominated by the imposing fortress that overlooks the town. Later, we will weave through breathtaking lake and mountain scenery to the charming village of St. Wolfgang, a site of pilgrimage revered throughout Austria. Continuing our journey, we arrive at Traunkirchen, nestled on the serene banks of Lake Traunsee. Here, we'll embark on a delightful cruise, granting us views of four stunning castles before concluding our aquatic adventure in the quaint town of Gmunden. Our day culminates as we arrive in the vibrant capital city of Vienna in the evening.
Day 15 - Vienna
Today, we will embark on a captivating tour of Vienna, renowned for its stunning architecture and vibrant culture. Our local guide will lead us through this grand city, showcasing its magnificent avenues, opulent palaces, and lush parks. In the afternoon, you'll have leisure time to explore more of Vienna at your own pace. Later in the evening, we will transfer you to the Grinzing district, a quaint area known for its historic wine taverns. Enjoy the opportunity to savour a traditional meal in this delightful part of the city.
Day 16 - Vienna - Budapest
Following a three-hour drive, we will arrive in Budapest, the captivating capital of Hungary. Our first stop will be the vibrant Vci Street, where you can enjoy some free time for lunch. Afterwards, we will embark on an enchanting boat trip along the Danube River, with stunning views of historic Buda on one side and the cosmopolitan charm of Pest on the other truly an experience not to be missed. We will then continue with a panoramic tour of Budapest, often referred to as the "Queen of the Danube," where you can take in its rich history and splendid architecture. In the evening, there is an optional chance to indulge in a Magyar cultural show, complete with dinner, for those interested. You will have additional free time to explore the city on your own.
Day 17 - Budapest - Bratislava - Prague
We depart Budapest early in the morning and set our sights on Bratislava, the enchanting capital of Slovakia. Nestled along the Danube River, Bratislava boasts a beautifully preserved historic centre that invites exploration. Youll have ample time to stroll through its charming streets and enjoy a leisurely lunch. Continuing our journey, we'll cross into the Czech Republic and arrive in Prague by evening. Here, we'll transfer you to the Old Town Square. This vibrant hub offers an excellent introduction to Prague's lively atmosphere, surrounded by fascinating sights and cultural activities. You can indulge in dinner at one of the many restaurants, with options ranging from Czech and Italian to Indian and Chinese cuisines. After soaking in the vibrant energy of the square, well head back to the hotel for a restful night.
Day 18 - Prague
Today, we explore Prague, the stunning Baroque gem of Europe. Our day begins with a captivating panoramic tour led by our insightful local guide, who will illuminate the city's most remarkable landmarks. During the tour, we will visit the magnificent Prague Castle, offering a glimpse into the city's regal past (admission included). After experiencing this architectural marvel, we will take you on a delightful boat ride along the serene Vltava River, also included in your tour. In the afternoon, youll have the freedom to wander through Prague at your leisure, discovering its enchanting streets and vibrant culture.
Day 19 - Prague - Pilsen - Rothenburg - Frankfurt
We set off early from Prague, making our first stop in Pilsen, a city in western Bohemia famous for its beer. You'll have the opportunity to wander through its historic centre and discover landmarks such as the Old Town Square, the cathedral, the Plague Column, and a Renaissance-era town hall. Afterwards, we cross into Germany, where we'll travel along part of the Romantic Road before reaching Rothenburg. This picturesque town, reminiscent of a fairy tale, is regarded as one of Germany's most beautiful villages. Later, we'll head to Frankfurt, the financial hub of Germany. Upon our arrival in the evening, you'll have free time to explore the historic city centre, which boasts a variety of dining options featuring international cuisines including Indian, Asian, and Italian.
Day 20 - Frankfurt - Cruise on the Rhine - Cologne - Amsterdam
After breakfast in Frankfurt, embark on a scenic cruise along the Rhine River, capturing the regions most picturesque sights between Rdesheim and St. Goar. This stretch of the river is acclaimed for its enchanting vineyards and medieval castles, offering a truly captivating experience. Our first destination is Zaanse Schans, a picturesque village famed for its historic windmills, charming houses, and serene canals. Immerse yourself in the quintessentially Dutch scenery.Next, we journey to Volendam, a delightful fishing village that offers scenic beauty at every turn. Here, you can soak in the maritime atmosphere and perhaps savour some freshly caught seafood. From Volendam, we'll take a brief boat ride to Marken, an area historically isolated but now accessible thanks to a connecting dike. Day 23 - Paris
Today, our exploration begins with a visit to the magnificent Palace of Versailles, an emblem of the opulence and history of France. While entry is not included, you'll have the opportunity to wander through its breathtaking gardens and soak in the grandeur of this historic site. After our visit, we return to Paris and make our way to Montmartre, a vibrant bohemian district known for its artistic flair. Here, you can enjoy its charming streets, packed with painters and cabarets that evoke the area's rich cultural heritage. Our day continues with a panoramic city tour guided by a local expert, offering an excellent overview of Paris's awe-inspiring architecture and iconic landmarks. Day 24 - Paris
We begin our day immersed in the heart of Paris with a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower. You'll have the opportunity to ascend to the second floor of this remarkable iron structure, enjoying panoramic views of the city (tickets included). Following this, we'll unwind with a serene boat cruise along the Seine, lasting approximately one hour and fifteen minutes, providing a unique perspective of Paris's famed landmarks. The afternoon is yours to explore at your own pace, discovering the charming streets and vibrant atmosphere of the city (please note that transfer back to the hotel is not included). Should wait times at the Eiffel Tower prove lengthy, we may adjust the schedule to ensure a convenient visit, possibly on a different day.
