Itinerary
Day 1 - Welcome to South Korea
Welcome to South Korea! Your family adventure begins in the vibrant capital, Seoul. At 14:30, meet your Adventure Leader and the rest of your group for a welcome briefing. You’ll learn more about the exciting journey ahead, along with useful tips for settling into life in South Korea.
After the meeting, you can drop off your luggage or check in at your hotel before heading out for your first experience—a taekwondo class. Learn the fundamentals of this traditional Korean martial art and work up an appetite before returning to the hotel.
This evening, you can choose to join the group for dinner or explore the area independently. Later, we’ll meet again to take the Namsan Cable Car up to the Tower Observatory, where you can enjoy spectacular night-time views of Seoul’s sparkling skyline.
Day 2 - Gyeongbokgung Palace & Hanok Village
We’ll travel by public transport this morning to visit one of Seoul’s most famous landmarks—Gyeongbokgung Palace. At 10am, we’ll watch the impressive Royal Guard Changing Ceremony before visiting a nearby hanbok rental shop, where you can choose to don traditional Korean dress for your palace visit. Take your time exploring the grand courtyards and peaceful gardens of this historic site.
For lunch, we’ll head to Bukchon Hanok Village, home to beautifully preserved hanoks (traditional Korean houses). Wander the charming lanes before we move on to Insadong, a lively area known for its craft shops, tea houses and antique stores—perfect for picking up a unique souvenir.
This evening, we’ll enjoy the famous Nanta show, a high-energy, non-verbal performance where comedy meets rhythm as four chefs race to prepare a wedding feast. After the show, you’ll have some free time to explore Myeongdong’s vibrant streets by night.
Day 3 - Free Day in Seoul
Today is yours to enjoy as you wish. You might continue exploring Seoul’s bustling neighbourhoods, take a day trip to Nami Island, or visit the thrilling Lotte World theme park. Your Adventure Leader will be happy to help with recommendations.
Day 4 - Hanok Stay
Seoul - Jeonju. This morning, we’ll board the high-speed KTX train to Jeonju—our next destination. After arriving late morning, we’ll head straight to the picturesque Hanok Village, drop off our luggage, and roll up our sleeves for a kimchi-making class. Learn the secrets behind Korea’s beloved fermented dish and prepare your own batch to take home.
You’ll then have some free time to explore Jeonju Hanok Village at your own pace. With its quaint shops, cafés and food stalls, it’s a wonderful place to wander.
This evening, check in to your traditional hanok accommodation, where you’ll spend the night experiencing authentic Korean hospitality. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and explore the area at leisure.
Day 5 - Charming Gyeongju
Jeonju - Gyeongju. We’ll travel by express bus to Gyeongju this morning, where we’ll drop our bags before setting off on a walking tour. Discover the city’s fascinating history as we visit the Chunmachong Ancient Tombs, Daerungwon Tumuli Park and Cheomseongdae—the oldest surviving astronomical observatory in East Asia.
Later, we’ll visit a 300-year-old hanok for a traditional tea tasting before gathering for a classic Korean dinner. To round off the evening, we’ll visit Donggung Palace and Anapji Pond, where the illuminated reflections create a truly magical night view.
Day 6 - Golgulsa Temple Stay
Enjoy a free morning in Gyeongju. You might wish to visit the UNESCO-listed Bulguksa Temple or stroll across the elegant Woljeonggyo Bridge—your Adventure Leader can help plan your morning.
In the afternoon, we’ll transfer by private shuttle to Golgulsa Temple, where we’ll spend the night. After an orientation session, we’ll take part in the temple’s daily routine—learning meditation, practising sunmudo (Korean martial arts), and sharing in communal work. A traditional vegetarian Buddhist dinner follows, before retiring to your temple room for a peaceful night’s rest.
Day 7 - Train to Busan
Gyeongju - Busan. An early start today as we join the monks for morning chanting and meditation before a simple temple breakfast. Afterwards, we’ll travel by KTX to our final destination—Busan.
On arrival, we’ll visit the colourful Gamcheon Culture Village, where you’ll have time to explore and enjoy lunch. This afternoon, we’ll head to Songdo Beach to take the marine cable car for panoramic coastal views, followed by a visit to Jagalchi Fish Market and the lively BIFF Square. Try Busan’s local treat—sweet and nutty hotteok—before checking in at the hotel and enjoying a free evening in the city.
Day 8 - Beautiful Busan
We’ll begin the day at Haedong Yonggungsa Temple—one of Korea’s most scenic temples, dramatically set on the cliffs overlooking the sea.
This afternoon, you can relax on Gwangalli Beach, take a stroll along the promenade, or enjoy the cafés and restaurants nearby. If you’d prefer another cultural experience, you can join a pottery-making class.
We’ll wrap up the trip in style with a sightseeing boat tour around Busan Bay, followed by a final free evening in the city.
Day 9 - Goodbye
Busan - Seoul. After breakfast, we’ll check out of the hotel and take the KTX back to Seoul for your onward journey. Your South Korea family adventure comes to an end—but the memories will stay with you long after you return home.
