Day 1 - Seoul
Welcome to Korea! Upon your arrival in Seoul, we will ensure your transfer to the hotel runs smoothly, so you can settle in and enjoy some leisure time. In the afternoon, you will receive essential information about the beginning of your tour, preparing you for the experiences ahead. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Seoul - Busan
Today, we embark on an engaging exploration of Seoul, lasting approximately five hours. Our journey begins at the Changdeokgung Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site set within a sprawling park and featuring a series of royal palaces. We then take a leisurely stroll through Bukchon Hanok Village, a charming historic neighbourhood renowned for its traditional hanok houses. Our next stop is the War Memorial, a fascinating museum highlighting Korea's historical conflicts, with a particular emphasis on the Korean War, in which numerous countries joined forces with the United Nations. We will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the lively Gangnam District, a bustling area filled with shopping and entertainment venues. Our day concludes with a visit to the impressive Lotte World Tower, standing at 550 metres tall. Here, you have the option to ascend the tower (admission not included) or explore its park and luxurious shopping areas at your own pace. Later, we will proceed to the station to board a high-speed train, with tickets included, that will take us to Busan. Upon arrival, a transfer to the hotel will be arranged for an overnight stay.
Day 3 - Busan
In the morning, we will set off from Busan to visit Haedong Yonggung, a stunning 14th-century Buddhist temple perched by the sea, offering a serene start to the day. After our visit, we will return to Busan to explore the UN Memorial Cemetery, a poignant site commemorating individuals from numerous nations. Our next stop is the bustling Nampo Port, home to the country's largest fish market, where we will have an included lunch to sample some local flavours. Once refueled, we will take a leisurely walk to Yongdusan Park, featuring an impressive 120-metre pagoda offering sweeping city views. Following this, you're free to enjoy Songdo Beach, where you can choose to ride South Koreas first marine cable car, weather permitting, and take in the awe-inspiring views of the bay below. Our adventure continues with a visit to the Gamcheon Culture Village, renowned for its vibrant, colourful houses, winding alleyways, and creative spaces such as art galleries and pottery workshops. We will return to Busan for a relaxing overnight stay, reflecting on a day filled with cultural and historical discoveries.
Day 4 - Busan - Seokguram - Bulguksa - Gyeongju - Daegu
Today, we will journey to the Seokguram Grotto, an 8th-century Buddhist site nestled on the slopes of Mount Toham. This historic grotto is renowned for its stunning stone carvings and serene atmosphere. Following this, we will explore the Bulguksa Temple, celebrated for its architectural beauty and spiritual significance, making it one of Korea's most admired temples. Our day continues in Gyeongju, historically significant as Korea's longest-serving capital, where 56 kings reigned over nearly a millennium. Here, you'll have an opportunity to capture images of the remarkable Woljeonggyo Bridge, which gracefully spans the Namcheon River. Lunch will be provided.After lunch, we will visit Tumuli Park, which houses the ancient burial mounds of Silla Kingdom royaltyover 1,500 years old. We will delve into the past by visiting one of these tombs and then proceed to the Cheomsongdae Astronomical Observatory. As the oldest observatory in East Asia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers a unique glimpse into the ancient world of astronomy.Our day concludes with a stroll through Daegu, Koreas fourth largest city. Before checking into our hotel, we'll explore the historic Dongsan Cheongna Hill, formerly a centre for Christian missionaries, and then visit Dongseong-ro, known for its vibrant atmosphere, filled with trendy shopping, cafes, and eateries. Tonight, we rest in Daegu.
Day 5 - Daegu - Andong - Hahoe - Seoul
Our day begins in Daegu with a visit to the Yangnyeongsi Museum of Oriental Medicine, well-regarded for its extensive history of medicinal herbs. We will then explore the nearby streets, famously known as the Herbal Medicine Market, celebrated for their myriad herbal shops and superior products, particularly ginseng. Our journey continues northwards to Andong, where we will visit the outskirts of the traditional Hahoe Village, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, you will find yourself stepping back in time as you wander through this charming rural village. We will also explore the Hahoe Mask Museum, which houses an intriguing collection of masks from various cultures, used in dances, medical practice, religious rituals, and theatrical performances. A local restaurant will host us for an included lunch before we proceed to Byeongsan Seowon Confucian Academy. Founded in the 16th century, this academy is beautifully situated in an idyllic riverside setting. We will arrive in Seoul by evening. Should the weather allow, we will make a stop at Banpo Bridge over the Han River, noted for the vibrant water and light displays of its fountain, creating a delightful spectacle. The day ends with an overnight stay in Seoul. Please note, the visit to Banpo Bridge is contingent on favourable weather conditions.
Day 6 - Seoul
After breakfast, our tour concludes, leaving you with a treasure trove of unforgettable memories. Until next time, safe travels!
