Day 1 - Medina
Upon arrival in the sacred city of Medina, known for its historical and religious significance as one of Islam's holiest sites, you'll transfer to your hotel. This city, which until recently was largely inaccessible to non-Muslims, welcomes millions of pilgrims annually. It's important to respect local customs by dressing modestly and adhering to cultural norms. After lunch, we'll explore the iconic Prophets Mosque (Al Masjid an Nabawi), a luminous structure with ten minarets, capable of hosting a million worshippers. Built by the Prophet Muhammad himself, it also serves as his burial site. We'll continue to the historic Mount Uhud, a significant pilgrimage site where the Prophets followers once battled troops from Mecca. Feel free to explore its vast terrain and climb in silence to respect the visiting pilgrims. Our journey then takes us to the Quba Mosque. Founded in 622 CE, it's recognised as the first mosque in Islam. Although the current structure is modern, it remains a place of significant historical reverence. From here, we walk to the nearby garden and well of Ethiq, where local tribes once welcomed the Prophet after his flight from Mecca. You'll have free time in the city centre to explore its shopping areas or, if you choose, visit the Hejaz Railway Museum housed in the historic Ottoman train station. Later, we'll learn about Medina's rich history at the Al Madinah museum. At dusk, we return to the Al Masjid Mosque to witness the captivating sight of thousands gathering for prayer amid dazzling illuminations. Dinner is included, providing a fitting close to your first day in this remarkable city. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Medina - Al-Ula
After breakfast, we journey deeper into the desert, exploring some of the world's most striking arid landscapes. Our first stop is Khaybar, a historically significant region once settled by Jewish tribes in the 7th century. This site is notable for the Battle of Khaybar in 628 AD, where Muslim forces led by Prophet Muhammad claimed victory. We delve into its history by visiting the ancient fortress and wandering through its serene oasis (admission included), all while surrounded by the dramatic desert backdrop.Continuing our adventure, we set off for Al-Ula, a spectacular natural wonder that's like an open-air museum. Here, you'll witness breathtaking rock formations, canyons, and ravines, standing in awe of the magnificent landscapes sculpted by its ancient inhabitants. Upon arrival, we will visit the renowned Elephant Rock (Jabal Al Fil), an extraordinary 52-metre high rock formation resembling an elephant. Dinner will be provided, allowing us to savour our surroundings after a day filled with exploration.
Day 3 - Al-Ula - Tabuk
Today, we'll explore the fascinating region of Al-Ula, beginning with a visit to the archaeological wonder of Hegra (Madain Saleh). Recognised as a World Heritage site by UNESCO, this Nabataean site, often referred to as "the Other Petra," captivates with its rock-cut tombs set against a dramatic desert backdrop. It's a journey through history that reveals the mysteries of an ancient civilisation. Lunch is included, providing us with an opportunity to savour local flavours. In the afternoon, you'll have free time to leisurely wander through Al-Ula's commercial streets and enjoy the lush reverence of its magnificent oasis. Later, we will depart for Tabuk, where we will enjoy dinner together.
Day 4 - Tabuk - Riyadh
In the early morning, we head to the airport for a flight to Riyadh, lasting just over ninety minutes. Upon arrival in Riyadh, we embark on a city tour directly from the airport. Our first stop is the National Museum, the largest in the country, set within a charming park. Here, we delve into the history, culture, and art of the Kingdom. We then visit the Masmak Fortressthis historic site offers insight into the city's remarkable transformation over the past century. Youll have some free time to wander through the neighbourhood, exploring its vibrant souks and shops. For lunch, you have the option to dine in a mall, where a variety of restaurants cater to different tastes.In the evening, we visit the Al Rajhi Mosque, Riyadhs largest, featuring stunning Andalusian-style architecture. We will witness a prayer session and receive an introduction to Islam, providing a thoughtful learning experience. Our day concludes with a visit to Riyadh City Boulevard, bustling with activity. You can explore the attractions, dine at numerous international restaurants and enjoy live shows. The colourful fountain displays are a true highlight. After some free time for dinner and a leisurely walk here, we will return to the hotel for a restful night.
Day 5 - Riyadh - Al-Hofuf
Just outside Riyadh lies the Al Turaif district, home to DIRIYAH, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This area served as the first capital of the Saudi dynasty, offering a glimpse into its grandeur through the remains of its palaces and urban structures near the oasis. We will then continue our journey along well-maintained highways to the AL-AHSA Oasis, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This oasis, inhabited since the Neolithic era, is recognised as the largest in the world, boasting nearly 3 million date palms, complemented by its gardens, canals, and wells. Upon arriving in AL HOFUF, the oasis's principal city, we will explore the historic Al Qaisariya souq, one of Arabia's oldest markets that epitomises the region's commercial heritage. To unwind, you can enjoy a leisurely evening stroll through King Abdullah Park with its artificial lake and fountains that move rhythmically to music. Dinner is included.
Day 6 - Al-Hofuf - Dammam
Following a satisfying breakfast, we embark on our exploration of Al-Hofuf. Our first stop is the Ibrahim Palace, a historic fortress recognised as a World Heritage Site. It's famed for its white mosque, originally constructed by the Ottomans in 1556. Our journey continues to the "House of Allegiance," a quaint palace typical of the oasis. We then head to a vibrant area featuring Mehaires Palace, surrounded by a variety of restaurants, shops, and parks frequented by locals.Leaving the city behind, we venture through the oasis towards Al Qara. This remarkable site boasts an impressive landscape of labyrinths, miniature gorges, and caves within the mountains. The temperature here remains a pleasant 25 degrees throughout the year. You'll have the chance to visit the "Land of Civilizations" museum, which offers insights into the area's rich history.In the afternoon, our route takes us towards the Persian Gulf, where we'll explore the modern city of Dammam, the provincial capital with nearly a million residents. Before reaching Dammam, we'll visit the striking Ithra site, home to the architecturally unique King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture. This centre, shaped like a rock, includes leisure areas, museums, and a library. Upon arriving in Dammam, we'll make a quick stop to admire the Khobar water tower. As we stroll along the modern promenade, we eventually arrive at the Heritage Village. This fortress-like structure by the sea offers a glimpse into Saudi civilisation, housing a small museum of antique objects, including a collection of historic automobiles. Dinner is included to conclude our active day.Please note: The Ibrahim Palace is currently undergoing restoration. Should it remain closed during your visit, we'll appreciate its facade from the outside.
Day 7 - Dammam - Bahrain
Following breakfast, we'll cross over the impressive 25-kilometre-long Friendship Bridge, which links Saudi Arabia with Bahrain. Once we've gone through the border formalities, we'll find ourselves in Bahrain, a small yet historically significant country spanning 765 square kilometres and home to just under two million people. On arrival in Manama, Bahrain's capital, we'll embark on a tour to explore the country. Our journey begins in the historic Muharraq neighbourhood, where we'll stroll through its pedestrian lanes lined with exquisite historical buildings such as refined royal residences and homes of affluent pearl merchants. Travelling along the picturesque corniche, we'll include a visit to Beit Al Quran, a museum dedicated to the Qur'an, offering insights into the holy book of Muslims. Not to be missed is the magnificent Bahrain National Museum, which provides a glimpse into the country's rich art, ethnography, and traditions. Over lunchtime, you'll have the opportunity to dine as you please at a food court in the mall.In the afternoon, accompanied by our guide, we'll visit the remarkable Al-Fateh Mosque, Bahrain's main mosque. Afterwards, our travels take us to Qal'at al-Bahrain, a UNESCO World Heritage site a formidable fortress by the sea, which has been inhabited for 4,000 years, though the current structure dates back to the Portuguese period. Venturing into one of the world's foremost oil regions, we'll stop at the site of the countrys first oil well and visit the iconic "Tree of Life," a 500-year-old natural wonder standing resilient in the desert. Returning to Manama, the remainder of the day is yours to unwind.We cap off our day with a stroll through the vibrant Manama souq, where well experience the bustling activity and delve into Little India, a district rich in life and tradition. Here, the Krishna temple and an array of small Indian eateries reflect the culture brought by over 300,000 Indian-born residents of Bahrain. Please note, the order of visits may vary.
Day 8 - Bahrain - Doha
In the morning, enjoy some leisure time exploring Bahrain's historic centre or visiting its range of fascinating museums. Whether you're interested in history, art, or culture, there's plenty to discover at your own pace. In the afternoon, we will provide a transfer to the airport for your included flight to Doha. Upon arrival in Qatar's vibrant capital, you'll be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to begin discovering Doha, a city known for blending rich heritage with modern marvels.
Day 9 - Doha
On our ninth day, we dive into the vibrant city of Doha. Our city tour begins with a stroll along the Corniche, where you'll be captivated by the stunning line of skyscrapers and the picturesque beaches. We then head to the impressive Al Thumama Stadium, one of the venues for the 2022 World Cup, before passing by the architecturally striking National Museum. A highlight of the day is our visit to the Museum of Islamic Art, which boasts the largest collection of Islamic art worldwide, offering a unique blend of modernity and tradition.Next, we explore the Souq Waqif, where you'll experience the bustling atmosphere of a traditional market. Here, you'll also visit the Falcon Souq to learn more about the cultural significance of falconry in Qatar. As you wander, take a moment to admire the nearby stables housing magnificent Arabian horses. For lunch, we travel to "The Pearl of Qatar," an artificial island featuring Porto Arabia and the shopping district of Qanat, inspired by Venices charm. Following this, we visit Katara Cultural Village, where you can marvel at architectural replicas from around the globe. There's an array of dining options and cultural venues, including an opera house and amphitheatre, making it a perfect place to conclude our exploration of Doha. Lunch is included in todays itinerary.
Day 10 - Doha
We conclude our journey in Doha today. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, reflecting on the diverse cultural and historical experiences we've shared throughout this memorable tour. With the remainder of your time, you may wish to take a final stroll around the city or relax and unwind before your onward travels.
