Day 1 - Lisbon - Fatima - Porto
We begin our journey by travelling from Lisbon into the picturesque north of Portugal. Our first stop is Ftima, a renowned pilgrimage site that holds significant spiritual importance. Continuing on, we reach Porto, the country's vibrant second-largest city. After enjoying lunch, we'll take a delightful 50-minute cruise on the Douro River aboard a traditional "Rabelo" boat. This provides a unique view of Porto's charming riverside. You will then have some free time to wander through the lively medieval Ribeira district, famous for its narrow streets, historic merchant houses, and inviting cafs. After soaking in the local atmosphere, we will head to our hotel. Please be aware that during your tour, other travellers may join or depart at various points, but the group size will always remain within the limits. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Porto - Braga - Guimares - Bom Jesus - Pinho - Coimbra
Today, we will immerse ourselves in the breathtaking landscapes of northern Portugal. Our exploration begins with a leisurely stroll through Braga, often referred to as the religious capital of Portugal, where you can admire its historic cathedral. Well then board the worlds oldest cable car to reach the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus, offering spectacular views. Following this, we suggest descending the impressive staircase for a different perspective. We will then visit Guimares, the first capital of Portugal, to explore the magnificent Palace of the Dukes. After enjoying a lunch set amongst picturesque vineyards, well continue our journey into the Douro Valley. As we pass through Sabrosa, known as the birthplace of Magellan, well make our way to Pinho. Here, youll have the opportunity to explore the charming train station, beautifully decorated with traditional tiles. We will embark on a one-hour cruise along the Douro Riverunless you are visiting from November to March when the cruise is not available, in which case a scenic drive with stops at viewpoints will allow you to appreciate the regions stunning beauty. Our day concludes as we travel to Coimbra, arriving by the end of the day for an included dinner.
Day 3 - Coimbra - Batalha - Nazare - Obidos - Lisbon
Today, we'll explore Coimbra, Portugal's third-largest city, renowned for its ancient university and quaint, steep alleys. As we head south, we'll visit the majestic Batalha Monastery, a grand medieval mausoleum of kings entrance is included. Our journey leads us to the charming coastal town of Nazar, known for its fishing heritage and as a delightful seaside resort. Here, you'll have free time for lunch and to wander around. A ride on the elevator to the old city is included, providing spectacular ocean views. On our way to Lisbon, we'll pause in the enchanting town of bidos, famed for its picturesque white streets adorned with flowers. We expect to arrive in Lisbon at around 7:30 p.m.
Day 4 - Lisbon
After enjoying breakfast, our journey concludes, leaving you with cherished memories of your time in Portugal.
