Day 1 - Lisbon
Upon arrival in Lisbon, the adventure begins as we whisk you away to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Whether you choose to relax or explore the city, the time is yours. Later, important details about the start of your journey will be available on the information boards located in the hotel reception area. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Lisbon
In the morning, we embark on a captivating sightseeing tour of Lisbon, the Portuguese capital, renowned for its seven hills and charming alleyways. The city is a tapestry of iconic tiles and a unique essence known as "saudade," all bathed in beautiful Atlantic light. We will also explore the historic Belem neighbourhood, the starting point for the 15th-century voyages of legendary Portuguese explorers. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure; you might consider wandering through Bairro Alto, famed for its stunning views. For those interested, an optional excursion to the enchanting towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril is available. In the evening, return transport will bring us back to the hotel from the vibrant Restauradores Square, a lively area teeming with bars and cafes.
Day 3 - Lisbon - Caceres - Madrid
We will start our day early as we leave Portugal, embarking on a journey through the scenic Alentejo region. Our first stop is the charming town of Estremoz, where we can enjoy a coffee break while soaking in its medieval atmosphere, characterised by cobblestone streets and timeless architecture. As we continue our travels, we cross into Spain and reach Cceres by lunchtime. Here, you'll have the opportunity to explore the historic centre, renowned for its remarkably preserved medieval and Renaissance architecture. Our final destination today is Madrid. Upon our evening arrival, we will head to Plaza Mayor, a vibrant hub filled with restaurants and a lively atmosphere.
Day 4 - Madrid
We begin our day in the heart of Madrid with a guided tour that covers some of the city's most iconic landmarks, including Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and Plaza Mayor. Our journey will lead us to the serene Retiro Park, where we can pause to admire the beautiful lake and the magnificent Palacio de Cristal. Admission is included to the legendary Santiago Bernabu Stadium, home to the world-renowned Real Madrid football club. You're then free to spend the afternoon as you choose. In the evening, we will ensure you have a comfortable transfer back to the hotel.
Day 5 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
We set off in the morning, travelling through the rich lands of Castile as we head towards the region of Aragon. Our first destination is Zaragoza, where we'll pause to admire the remarkable Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, a revered piece of Baroque architecture and a key spiritual site in Spain. Continuing our journey, we reach the tranquil Poblet Abbey, a masterpiece of Cistercian architecture and one of the best-preserved medieval monasteries in the world your entry is covered. We conclude our day by pressing on to the vibrant city of Barcelona, arriving in the evening ready for your next adventure.
Day 6 - Barcelona - Girona
We begin our day in Barcelonathe City of Countswhere we'll embark on a morning tour through this vibrant metropolis. Set along the Mediterranean, Barcelona is renowned for its modernist architecture by Gaud, bustling Ramblas, and a rich historical backdrop marked by events like the Universal Exposition and the Olympics. Explore why this city is often hailed as one of Europe's most captivating capitals. As evening approaches, we will journey north into Catalonia. Before reaching our hotel, we'll pause in Gironaa historic centre famed for its vivid houses, ancient Jewish quarter, and its striking cathedral. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through its streets, absorbing the unique blend of cultural influences that make Girona so enchanting.
Day 7 - Girona - Carrieres des Lumieres - Chambery
Today, we embark on a journey to France, travelling through the stunning Provence region. Our first stop is the charming city of Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its connections to Van Gogh. While in Arles, you'll have the opportunity to visit the Roman theatre and explore the quaint Romanesque churches, along with having time for lunch. Our adventure continues with a visit to Carrires des Lumires, an extraordinary underground art installation where art, images, and music come to life in an ancient quarry setting. In the evening, we arrive in Chambry, the captivating capital of Savoy, known for its medieval charm, picturesque historic centre, and grand castle. If Carrires des Lumires is fully booked, we will offer an alternative visit to the famed Pont du Gard, an impressive Roman aqueduct.
Day 8 - Chambery - Geneva - Gruyeres - Leysin
Today, we'll set off for Switzerland, arriving in the scenic city of Geneva. Accompanied by our knowledgeable guide, we will visit the Palais des Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations, and take a stroll through the picturesque English Garden, famous for its stunning flower clock. We'll then make our way to the Jet d'Eau, Europe's tallest fountain, to marvel at its impressive height and elegance.Our next stop is the quaint, walled village of Gruyres, globally esteemed for its cheese. Famed for its winter sports and extensive hiking trails, Leysin promises much to explore. We include dinner to round off a day filled with memorable Swiss experiences. Please note that depending on availability, we might stay in another equally charming Swiss alpine town such as Martigny.
Day 9 - Leysin - Interlaken - Lucerne - Zurich
Today, youre in for a visual treat amid the stunning mountain vistas of Switzerland. Well start our day by ascending to Glacier 3000 via a cable car, a spectacular vantage point offering breathtaking views of ice and snow, no matter the season. Here, youll have the chance to wander across the suspended bridge nestled between two majestic peaks, marvel at the Ice Cathedral, or unleash your playful side at the Fun Park. After soaking in these alpine wonders, well head to Interlaken for a delightful lunch stop. Afterwards, our journey continues to Lucerne, one of Switzerland's most picturesque cities, where you can explore its charming old town with its quaint boutiques and cafes lining the serene lakefront. Well conclude our day in Zurich, arriving in the evening, where you'll have some leisure time to discover the vibrant atmosphere of the city centre before resting at the hotel. Please note that adverse weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances may result in the Glacier 3000 cable car being closed, in which case an equally stunning alternative experience will be arranged to ensure your enjoyment of the alpine scenery.
Day 10 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
Departing Zurich early in the morning, we traverse the Alps to arrive in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Our first destination is Bellinzona, celebrated for its trio of UNESCO-listed medieval castles. These formidable structures, towering over the city, underscore Bellinzona's historical importance as a strategic alpine stronghold. Enjoy some leisure time to explore the quaint streets of the city centre. We then cross into Italy, making our way to Como for lunchtime. Nestled in the Lombardy region, Como is famed for its exquisite lakeside gardens and impressive cathedral, earning it the title of a true gem. Continuing on, we arrive in Milan, where a guided visit to the impressive Piazza del Duomo awaits. Here, you will have some time to soak in the bustling atmosphere before we take you to your hotel for the evening.
Day 11 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
Our adventure today takes us to the captivating city of Pisa. We'll start our visit with a delightful ride on a small tourist train that leads us directly to the Piazza dei Miracoli, or Square of Miracles. Here, you're free to admire one of Italy's most stunning art complexes, with the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa as its centrepiece. After taking in this iconic site, we'll continue our journey to Rome, where we will arrive later in the day.
Day 12 - Rome
This morning, we'll embark on a three-hour guided exploration of Rome, the 'Eternal City.' Our journey begins with a walking tour showcasing the grandeur of Imperial Rome, coupled with a panoramic bus tour. We will delve into the city's rich heritage, including notable landmarks such as the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the Colosseum, and the Imperial Forums. Along the way, you'll see the historic Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius, and Castel Sant'Angelo. Our tour concludes in Vatican City at around 11:00 a.m. Here, our guide will offer an optional visit to explore the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, a treasure trove of artistic wonders. In the evening, we'll whisk you away to Trastevere, a charming neighbourhood known for its inviting restaurants and vibrant atmosphere. You'll return to the hotel at around 8:30 p.m.
Day 13 - Rome - Florence
Today, we leave the vibrant city of Rome behind and head north, taking in the picturesque landscapes as we make our way to Florence. Our first stop is the magnificent Piazzale Michelangelo, where you can soak in breathtaking panoramic views of Florence and its iconic horizon. From here, we will stroll towards the historic centre. Once there, enjoy some time for lunch at your leisure.In the afternoon, join us as our expert local guide leads a walking tour through Florences historic heart. We will visit renowned landmarks such as the Ponte Vecchio, the majestic Duomo, and the bustling Piazza della Signoria. Known as an open-air museum, Florence offers an array of sights that capture the essence of its rich heritage.After the tour, you'll have free time to further explore this enchanting city at your own pace. Day 14 - Florence - Venice
On day 14, we will traverse the breathtaking mountain landscapes of the Apennines en route to Venice. Once there, a boat will ferry us across the Giudecca Canal to the enchanting Island of Venice. Here, in the company of a local guide, we will explore the splendour of St. Mark's Square. Following this, we'll visit the renowned Murano Glass Factory to witness the captivating art of glassmaking. You'll then have some leisure time to wander and soak in the unique atmosphere of this iconic city. For the night, we will be staying in the Mestre district.
Day 15 - Venice - Innsbruck - Salzburg
Departing from Venice, we will journey into Austria. Our first destination is Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, where you'll have the opportunity to explore the historic city centre and enjoy a lunch break. Afterwards, we'll travel through the stunning mountain scenery on our way to Kitzbhel, a charming village renowned as a ski resort with snowy landscapes that are picturesque for most of the year. You'll have free time to explore this beautiful locality. Our day concludes as we arrive in Salzburg by the evening, an enchanting city with a rich musical heritage. Please note that if the group size is small, we may travel from Venice to Innsbruck by train.
Day 16 - Salzburg - Lake Traunsee - Vienna
Today, we delve deeper into the heart of Austria, beginning with a morning exploration of Salzburg, the city famously associated with Mozart. This charming city boasts a Renaissance and Baroque centre, all overlooked by its grand castle. From there, we journey through picturesque lakes and mountains, arriving at St. Wolfgang, a notable pilgrimage destination. We continue to the waterside town of Traunkirchen, nestled beside the serene Traunsee Lake. Here, you will enjoy a leisurely cruise, taking in views of the four castles dotting the lakeside, before disembarking in the quaint town of Gmunden. Day 17 - Vienna
Today, we will immerse ourselves in the splendour of Vienna during a panoramic tour guided by a local expert. Our exploration will take us along the city's grand avenues, past its magnificent palaces and expansive parks, as well as through the vibrant city centre bustling with life. In the afternoon, you will have the freedom to discover Vienna at your own pace. An evening transfer will take us to the Grinzing district a quaint wine-growing village now absorbed into the city and celebrated for its traditional taverns. Here, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy dinner in a unique setting.
Day 18 - Vienna - Budapest
After a journey of approximately three hours, we will arrive in Budapest, the vibrant capital of Hungary. Our first stop is the bustling Vci utca, where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy some free time for lunch. Following this, we'll embark on a delightful boat trip along the Danube River, offering breathtaking views of historic Buda on one side and bustling Pest on the other, providing a unique perspective of this stunning city. Our adventure continues with a guided panoramic tour of Budapest, often hailed as the "Queen of the Danube." You'll have some more free time afterwards to explore further at your leisure. In the evening, we're pleased to offer an optional outing to enjoy a Magyar show, complete with dinner for a truly local experience.
Day 19 - Budapest - Bratislava - Prague
We will depart from Budapest in the early morning, travelling towards Bratislava, the charming capital of Slovakia situated along the Danube River. Here, youll have time to explore the citys picturesque historic centre and enjoy a leisurely lunch. Following our stop in Bratislava, well continue our journey northward to the Czech Republic, reaching Prague by evening. As night falls, you'll have the opportunity to discover Pragues enchanting atmosphere, marvelling at its beautifully illuminated architecture.
Day 20 - Prague
Today, we will explore Prague, the Baroque jewel of Europe. Our local guide will lead us on a panoramic tour, showcasing the citys most notable monuments. During the tour, we will visit Prague Castle, with admission included. Following this, enjoy a delightful boat ride on the Vltava River. The afternoon is yours to discover the city at your leisure. Whether you're wandering through Prague's historic streets, admiring its architectural beauty, or indulging in local cuisine, you'll have ample time to take in the charm and culture of this captivating city.
Day 21 - Prague - Pilsen - Rothenburg - Frankfurt
