Day 1 - Lisbon
Upon arriving in Lisbon, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel, where you can relax and settle in. You'll have the opportunity to explore the vibrant city at your own pace, soaking up the atmosphere and possibly enjoying some local delicacies. Later in the afternoon, keep an eye out for the hotel reception boards, where you'll find all the essential details about the commencement of your exciting tour. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Lisbon
On the morning of our second day in Lisbon, we will embark on a captivating sightseeing tour of this vibrant city, famously known as the 'City of Seven Hills.' You'll be taken on a journey through its enchanting alleyways, where you'll encounter the iconic Portuguese tiles and soak in the unique ambiance they create. We'll venture into the historic Belm neighbourhood, a significant hub during the Age of Discoveries, where 15th-century navigators set sail on their grand voyages across the world's oceans.In the afternoon, you will have free time to explore further. You might choose to wander through Bairro Alto, celebrated for its lively atmosphere, or enjoy the panoramic views at one of its scenic viewpoints. For those interested in venturing beyond Lisbon, there's an optional excursion available to the charming towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril, each offering their own allure and character.As the day winds down, we will gather at Restauradores Square, a bustling area filled with vibrant bars and cafs, and return to our hotel, enriched by the sights and sounds of Lisbon.
Day 3 - Lisbon - Caceres - Madrid
On day three, we set off early from Lisbon, leaving Portugal behind as we venture into the scenic Alentejo region. Our first stop is in Estremoz, a quaint town known for its medieval castle and charming cobblestone streetsa perfect spot to pause for a morning coffee. As we continue into Spain, our next destination is Cceres. Here, you'll have the opportunity to savour lunch and take a leisurely stroll through its remarkably preserved medieval and Renaissance Old Town, which showcases its rich historical heritage. Later, we journey onward to Madrid, arriving in the evening. We'll ensure you're comfortably transferred to Plaza Mayor, a lively hub brimming with restaurants and vibrant life, ideal for an evening exploration.
Day 4 - Madrid
We start our day in Madrid with a guided tour of the city's vibrant centre. We'll explore notable landmarks such as the Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and the bustling Plaza Mayor. Next, we'll visit Retiro Park, a serene green space right in the heart of the city, where we'll take a moment to enjoy the lake and the elegant Palacio de Cristal. Our morning continues with a visit to the illustrious Santiago Bernabu Stadium, the home ground of Real Madrid, one of the world's most prestigious football clubs, with tickets included. Day 5 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
We will depart from Madrid in the morning and journey to the Aragon region, passing through the scenic landscapes of Castile. Our first stop is Zaragoza, where we will visit the incredible Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. This remarkable baroque temple is not only a significant religious site but also a monument steeped in history and art. Later, we will continue to the tranquil Poblet Abbey, which, with its well-preserved medieval architecture, stands as one of the world's finest monastic complexes. Your entry ticket is included. In the evening, we will arrive in vibrant Barcelona, where you can relax and settle in for the night.
Day 6 - Barcelona - Girona
On the sixth day of our journey, we will delve into the vibrant city of Barcelona, affectionately known as the City of Counts. Situated beside the captivating Mediterranean Sea, this city is celebrated for its unique blend of modernist architecture, famously crafted by visionary architect Antoni Gaud, and its dynamic cultural history. Barcelona is a city acclaimed for hosting momentous events like the Universal Exposition and the Olympics, cementing its place as one of Europe's most intriguing capitals. As the evening approaches, we will depart Barcelona and head north into the region of Catalonia. Upon arrival in Girona, we will take a leisurely stroll through its historic centre, renowned for its colourful houses, the storied Jewish quarter, and the impressive cathedral that graces the landscape. After this enriching day, we will settle in our hotel for the night, recapping the day's highlights in this charming locale.
Day 7 - Girona - Carrieres des Lumieres - Chambery
We will journey into France today, traversing the picturesque region of Provence. Our first destination is Arles, a quaint town proudly listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and famed for its connections to Van Gogh. Here, we can visit the Roman theatre and charming Romanesque churches. You'll have time to explore and enjoy lunch at your leisure. Next, we include a visit to the Carrires des Lumires, a mesmerizing underground experience showcasing art through captivating displays of imagery and sound inside an ancient quarry. As the day draws to a close, we arrive in Chambry, the picturesque capital of Savoy, where we can admire its medieval charm, historic centre, and grand castle. Please note, if tickets for Carrires des Lumires are unavailable due to high demand, we will arrange an alternative visit to the renowned Pont du Gard, a remarkable Roman aqueduct.
Day 8 - Chambery - Geneva - Gruyeres - Leysin
On the eighth day of our journey, we will venture into Switzerland, beginning with a visit to Geneva. Guided by our expert, we will explore significant landmarks such as the Palais des Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations. We will also admire the serene English Garden with its renowned flower clock and the impressive Jet dEau, Europes tallest fountain. Our next destination is Gruyres, a picturesque, walled village famed for its cheese. This region also hosts some of Switzerland's most renowned chocolate factories, including the Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory, where you can indulge in a delightful tasting experience with admission included. Continuing through stunning landscapes, we will traverse scenic roads dotted with charming, wooden villages, leading us to Chillon Castle by Lake Genevayour admission is included for a closer look at this historic site. By mid-afternoon, we will arrive at Leysin, a quaint holiday village offering spectacular vistas of the Rhne Valley and Mont Blanc. Known for its winter sports and hiking trails, Leysin is the perfect spot for relaxation. We will enjoy an included dinner here. Note: Occasionally, accommodation may be arranged in another picturesque Swiss village nestled in the Alps, such as Martigny, depending on availability.
Day 9 - Leysin - Interlaken - Lucerne - Zurich
Prepare for a day of breathtaking experiences as we explore some of Switzerland's most stunning mountain landscapes. Ensure you have your winter attire ready as we journey to Glacier 3000 by cable car a remarkable area celebrated for its everlasting ice and snow. Here, you can stroll across a suspended bridge linking two peaks, delve into the enchanting Ice Cathedral, or delight in the lively Fun Park. Our travels will then take us to Interlaken, where well pause for lunch amidst this charming town surrounded by lakes and mountains. In the afternoon, well continue to Lucerne, renowned for its picturesque scenery and historical allure. Our day concludes with a late arrival in Zurich, allowing time for you to explore the vibrant city centre before settling into the hotel. Note: If the Glacier 3000 cable car is closed due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, an equally impressive alternative will be arranged to ensure you still experience the magnificent alpine beauty.
Day 10 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
On the tenth day of our journey, we set off from Zurich early in the morning, travelling through the majestic Alps into the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Our first destination is Bellinzona, famous for its trio of medieval castles, which are recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These castles, perched on hills overlooking the town, serve as a reminder of Bellinzona's historical importance as a strategic alpine stronghold. You'll have time to explore the charming streets of the town centre at your leisure.Our adventure continues as we cross into Italy, arriving at the picturesque town of Como for lunch. Nestled amid the beauty of Lombardy, Como is renowned for its stunning lakeside gardens and splendid cathedral, offering a perfect blend of natural and architectural beauty. Our day concludes in Milan, where a visit to the impressive Piazza del Duomo awaits. Well then transfer you to the hotel, leaving you some time to browse around and enjoy the local atmosphere.
Day 11 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
Today, our adventure continues as we journey from Milan to the iconic city of Pisa. Well take a charming miniature train to the Piazza dei Miracoli, a stunning collection of architectural masterpieces. Here, you'll have the opportunity to marvel at the renowned Leaning Tower of Pisa, part of one of Italys most picturesque and significant art complexes. Once you've soaked in the beauty of Pisa, well embark on the final leg of our journey to Rome, arriving in the evening. Prepare yourself to experience the allure of Italy's capital, enriched with centuries of history and culture.
Day 12 - Rome
This morning, we'll set off on an enriching three-hour guided exploration of the Eternal City, Rome. Our journey combines a walking tour through Imperial Rome with a panoramic bus ride, allowing us to uncover the rich history and architecture of one of the most ancient and influential cities in the Western world. We will visit iconic landmarks such as the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the Colosseum, the Imperial Forums, Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius, and Castel Sant'Angelo, giving you a glimpse into Rome's majestic past. The tour will conclude around 11:00 a.m. at Vatican City, providing a perfect opportunity to join our guide for an optional visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, should you wish to explore further. In the evening, we'll transport you to the lively and characterful neighbourhood of Trastevere, renowned for its inviting eateries and vibrant atmosphere. Return to the hotel is planned around 8:30 p.m.
Day 13 - Rome - Florence
We will depart Rome this morning, journeying north through the beautiful Italian countryside. Our destination is Florence, a city renowned for its artistic heritage. Upon arrival, we will visit Piazzale Michelangelo to take in the magnificent panoramic views of the city. Afterwards, we will head to the historic centre for a guided walking tour. With a local expert, we will explore iconic landmarks such as the Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, and Piazza della Signoria, immersing ourselves in the rich history of this open-air museum. Following the tour, you will have free time to explore Florence at your own pace. In the evening, you can choose from a variety of dining options offering both local and international cuisines.
Day 14 - Florence - Venice
Today, we will cross the breathtaking Apennine Mountains and arrive in the enchanting city of Venice. Our adventure begins with a boat ride across the Giudecca Canal, taking us to the heart of the city on the Island of Venice. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, we will explore the iconic St. Marks Square, renowned for its remarkable architecture and vibrant ambience. Following this, we will visit the celebrated Murano Glass Factory, where you can witness the skilled artisans at work, creating exquisite glass pieces using traditional techniques. Once our guided activities conclude, you will have the opportunity to wander and explore Venice at your own pace, immersing yourself in the unique charm of its canals and narrow streets. Our accommodation for the evening will be in the Mestre district, offering a convenient base for your stay.
Day 15 - Venice - Innsbruck - Salzburg
We will set off from Venice and head towards Austria. Upon arrival in Innsbruck, you'll have the opportunity to explore the historic city centre and enjoy a leisurely lunch in the capital of Tyrol, known for its charming Alpine setting. After our time in Innsbruck, we'll continue our journey through breathtaking mountain scenery as we travel to Kitzbhel. Here, you'll have the chance to wander around this picturesque village, renowned as a ski resort with snow gracing its slopes for much of the year. Our day concludes in Salzburg, where we will arrive by the end of the day. Please note, if the group size is small, we might travel by train from Venice to Innsbruck instead.
Day 16 - Salzburg - Lake Traunsee - Vienna
We'll immerse ourselves in the heart of Austria today, starting with an exploration of Salzburg, famously known as the birthplace of Mozart. The citys Renaissance and Baroque architecture, all nestled beneath its grand fortress, offers a striking landscape. From there, we'll head through picturesque lakes and mountains until we reach St. Wolfgang, a well-known pilgrimage destination in Austria. Our journey continues to Traunkirchen, beautifully positioned alongside Lake Traunsee. Here, you can look forward to a scenic cruise, where we'll admire four of the lakes historic castles before arriving in the delightful town of Gmunden. Our day concludes with a drive to Vienna, where we'll arrive in the evening.
Day 17 - Vienna
We will begin our day in Vienna with a guided panoramic tour, showcasing the city's grandeur through its majestic avenues, splendid palaces, expansive parks, and bustling city centre. You will have the afternoon at leisure to delve deeper into Vienna's charms or perhaps visit a museum or enjoy a coffee at a classic Viennese caf. As evening approaches, we will take you to the delightful district of Grinzing. Once a quaint wine-growing village, it is now a vibrant city area renowned for its traditional taverns. Here, you can relax and choose from a variety of dining options to enjoy dinner at your own pace.
Day 18 - Vienna - Budapest
We set off for Budapest, the vibrant capital of Hungary, arriving after approximately three hours. Our first destination is the bustling Vci utca, where you will have time to enjoy lunch and explore at your leisure. The highlight of our day is an included boat trip on the majestic Danube River, where you'll witness the striking contrast of historic Buda and the cosmopolitan allure of Pest. The panoramic views are truly exceptional. Following the cruise, we will embark on a guided tour, introducing you to the sights of this magnificent city, often referred to as the "Queen of the Danube." Afterwards, you will have some free time to continue exploring. In the evening, there is an optional opportunity to attend a traditional Magyar show, complete with dinner, perfect for immersing yourself in Hungarian culture.
Day 19 - Budapest
