Day 1 - Lisbon
Welcome to Lisbon! Upon your arrival, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel, where you can relax and enjoy some leisure time in this vibrant city. As the afternoon unfolds, be sure to check the hotel's reception boards for important information regarding the commencement of your tour. Spend your first moments soaking in the city's unique atmosphere, setting the stage for the adventures that await. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Lisbon
On the second day of our trip, we will set out to explore Lisbon in the morning. Our sightseeing tour will uncover the charm of this captivating city, famously built on seven hills, featuring its picturesque alleys, renowned azulejo tiles, and the evocative sense of "saudade" under the glow of the Atlantic light. We will visit the historic Belm neighbourhood, the departure point for the great Portuguese explorers of the 15th century. You'll have the afternoon to enjoy at your leisure, with the option to wander through Bairro Alto and take in its impressive viewpoint. Alternatively, you might choose an optional excursion to explore the enchanting towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. In the evening, we'll reconvene and return to the hotel, departing from the vibrant Restauradores Square, bustling with lively bars and cafs.
Day 3 - Lisbon - Caceres - Madrid
On day three, we set off early from Portugal, crossing the enchanting region of Alentejo. Our journey includes a pause in Estremoz, a quaint town distinguished by its medieval castle and cobblestone streets, radiating a distinct Portuguese charm. We then continue to Spain, arriving in Cceres where there's time to savour lunch and meander through its historic centrean exquisite showcase of medieval and Renaissance architecture. Our day concludes in Madrid, reaching the vibrant Plaza Mayor by the evening, perfect for winding down amidst its array of delightful restaurants and lively atmosphere.
Day 4 - Madrid
Begin your day in Madrid with an enlightening exploration of the citys core. Well guide you to admire some of Madrids landmark sights, including the Paseo del Prado, the grand fountains of Cibeles and Neptuno, the majestic Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and the historic Plaza Mayor. Following this urban journey, Retiro Park beckonsa tranquil green haven in the heart of the city. Here, you can enjoy the serenity of the lake and take in the splendour of the Palacio de Cristal. Your tour also includes admission to the iconic Santiago Bernabu Stadium, the revered home of Real Madrid, celebrated by many as one of the worlds premier football clubs. The afternoon is yours to design, allowing you the freedom to explore Madrid as you wish. In the evening, a transfer will return you to your hotel, closing a day enriched with cultural and historic insights.
Day 5 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
We begin our journey today by venturing into the region of Aragon, travelling through the picturesque Castilian landscape. Our first stop is Zaragoza, where we take time to admire the fantastic Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, a remarkable piece of Baroque architecture, believed to be the first dedicated to the Virgin Mary. We then continue to the tranquil but impressive Poblet Abbey, renowned as one of the finest preserved medieval monasteriesyour entrance is included. Finally, we head to the vibrant city of Barcelona, reaching our destination by evening.
Day 6 - Barcelona
We begin the day with a panoramic tour of Barcelona, a dynamic city by the Mediterranean renowned for its mesmerising modernist architecture by Gaud. You'll experience the vibrant atmosphere along the famous Ramblas and appreciate the city's rich historical context, shaped significantly by the Universal Exposition and the Olympics hosted here. In the afternoon, you have time to explore the city at your own pace. As evening approaches, we'll take you to Maremagnum, a modern entertainment and dining hub by the sea near Plaza de Coln. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely walk and choose from a variety of dining options in this lively area.
Day 7 - Barcelona - Paris
Today, you'll embark on an exciting high-speed train journey from Barcelona to Paris. Your comfortable rail experience will whisk you away in just over six hours, crossing scenic landscapes as you travel. Upon your arrival in the vibrant French capital, we'll arrange a transfer to your hotel, ensuring a smooth transition. In the evening, you can expect to be contacted by your guide, or alternatively, you can find all the relevant information on the boards at the hotel reception. Please note, this part of your journey will not be accompanied by a guide, allowing you some peaceful time to enjoy the experience.
Day 8 - Paris
Today, we delve into the captivating history of France with a visit to the splendid Palace of Versailles, known for its exquisite gardens (please note that admission is not included). After basking in the magnificence of Versailles, we'll return to Paris to explore Montmartre, an enchanting bohemian district renowned for its vibrant artistic community, including painters and cabaret performers. Our adventure continues with a panoramic tour of Paris, guided by a local expert, showcasing the city's grand avenues and iconic landmarks. We'll then make our way back to the hotel. As the evening unfolds, you might choose to attend an optional variety show to cap off the day's experiences.
Day 9 - Paris - Rouen
We begin our day in the heart of Paris with a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower. Included in your admission is the opportunity to ascend to the second floor of this famous iron structure, offering breathtaking views of the city. Following this, we'll unwind with a relaxing boat cruise along the picturesque Seine. Your afternoon is free to explore Paris at your own pace, allowing you to immerse yourself in its unique charm and vitality. Around 4 p.m., we set off for Normandy, arriving in the historic city of Rouen. Here, you'll have the chance to wander through its ancient centre, which is rich with history dating back to Roman times. Rouen is renowned for its enchanting medieval architecture and its striking Gothic cathedral, providing a delightful blend of heritage and culture. Please note: If queues to ascend the Eiffel Tower are particularly long, we may reschedule the visit for your convenience, possibly at a different time or on Sunday.
Day 10 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
We begin the day with a leisurely walk through the streets of Rouen, allowing you to soak in its picturesque historical centre, distinguished by its medieval architecture and the magnificent Gothic cathedral. As we travel to northern France, we'll cross the English Channel by ferry, an experience offering a taste of maritime adventure. Upon reaching England, we arrive in Canterbury, the nation's spiritual heart, celebrated for its charming historic centre and stunning cathedral. Our journey continues to London, where you will have free time to explore the area around the iconic Tower Bridge, a symbol known worldwide. Afterwards, we'll make our way to the hotel to mark the close of another enriching day.
Day 11 - London
Begin your exploration of London with a captivating panoramic tour guided by a local expert, offering insights into the city's rich culture and history. Experience iconic landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament, the River Thames, and Buckingham Palace, where you might catch the renowned Changing of the Guard ceremony, subject to the schedules. Spend your afternoon at ease, wandering the vibrant streets and soaking in the unique atmosphere at your own pace. Our journey concludes today, leaving you with cherished memories.
