Day 1 - Lisbon
Welcome to Lisbon, the vibrant capital city of Portugal. Upon your arrival, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel, allowing you some time to unwind and explore at your leisure. In the afternoon, please check the information boards in the hotel reception to find details about the start of your tour. Enjoy your initial moments in this charming city, renowned for its lively cultural scene and warm Atlantic breezes. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Lisbon
On the second day of our journey, we will experience the wonders of Lisbon, the vibrant Portuguese capital renowned for its seven hills. Our morning will be devoted to a guided sightseeing tour, where we will navigate the city's enchanting alleys that echo with the unique feeling of "saudade". Admire the iconic Portuguese tiles and bask in the beautiful light from the Atlantic. We will explore the historic district of Belem, famously known as the starting point for the great Portuguese navigators of the 15th century. The afternoon is yours to explore at leisure. Perhaps venture into Bairro Alto, celebrated for its viewpoint providing spectacular city views. Alternatively, you may choose an optional excursion to the picturesque towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. In the evening, we will return to our hotel from the lively Restauradores Square, bustling with vibrant bars and cafes, perfect for an evening wander.
Day 3 - Lisbon - Caceres - Madrid
On the third day of our journey, we'll set off early from Portugal, travelling through the scenic Alentejo region. Our first stop will be in the delightful town of Estremoz, where we'll enjoy a coffee break amidst its medieval charm, complete with cobblestone streets and striking architecture that encapsulate Portuguese heritage.Continuing into Spain, we'll arrive in Cceres a city renowned for its remarkably preserved medieval and Renaissance architecture. You'll have the opportunity to savour lunch and wander through its historical centre, exploring its rich past.In the evening, we'll head to Madrid, where we'll conclude the day's travels with a transfer to Plaza Mayor. This bustling square is a vibrant hub filled with restaurants and activity, offering the perfect setting to end an exhilarating day.
Day 4 - Madrid
Today, we begin with an immersive tour of central Madrid, taking in renowned sights such as Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and Plaza Mayor. Our exploration continues with a visit to Retiro Park, a lovely urban sanctuary where we will see the serene lake and the striking Palacio de Cristal. The highlight of the day is included admission to Santiago Bernabu Stadium, home of Real Madrida football club often hailed as the best in the world. The afternoon is yours to explore Madrid at your own pace. In the evening, we will arrange a return transfer to your hotel.
Day 5 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
On the fifth day of our journey, we set off in the morning across the Castilian landscapes toward Aragon. Our first stop is Zaragoza, where we'll admire the magnificent Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. This impressive baroque building is a significant pilgrimage site and a stunning example of ecclesiastical architecture. After immersing ourselves in its grandeur, we continue to the tranquil Poblet Abbey. Here, entrance is included to allow us to explore one of the world's most well-preserved medieval monasteries, offering a glimpse into monastic life through the ages. As the day winds down, we make our way to the vibrant city of Barcelona, arriving in the evening ready for new adventures.
Day 6 - Barcelona
We start our day in the vibrant city of Barcelona with a panoramic tour to soak in its striking contrasts and dynamic spirit. From Gauds innovative modernist architecture that defines the cityscape to the bustling energy of the Ramblas, Barcelona never fails to captivate visitors. We'll also explore the city's rich historical tapestry, marked by events such as the Universal Exposition and the Olympics. The afternoon is yours to enjoy as you please, whether that's wandering through hidden streets or soaking up the Mediterranean charm at your own pace. In the evening, we'll regroup and head to Maremagnum, a modern entertainment and dining hub by the sea, adjacent to Plaza de Coln. Here, you can unwind with a stroll through this lively area and pick from a variety of inviting restaurant options for dinner.
Day 7 - Barcelona - Paris
At the designated time, we will transfer you to the station for a high-speed train journey from Barcelona to Paris, which is included in your itinerary. Enjoy a comfortable and scenic journey lasting just over six hours. On arrival in Paris, you'll be taken to your hotel. Your guide will reach out to you in the evening, or you may wish to check the information boards available at the hotel reception. Please note that this train journey does not include a guide.
Day 8 - Paris
Today, we discover the illustrious history of France with a visit to the grand Palace of Versailles. Marvel at the exquisite gardens and stunning architecture of this former royal residence, though please note that the admission is not included in the tour. Returning to Paris, we explore Montmartre, a historic and bohemian neighbourhood famed for its artistic atmosphere, cabarets, and picturesque streets that have inspired countless creators. As the day progresses, we'll enjoy a panoramic city tour led by a local guide, highlighting Paris's impressive avenues and renowned landmarks. After the tour, we return to our hotel. If you're interested in further entertainment, there's an optional variety show available in the evening.
Day 9 - Paris - Rouen
Our day in Paris begins with a visit to one of the world's most iconic landmarks, the Eiffel Tower. Included in your itinerary is a trip to the second floor, where you can enjoy breathtaking views over the city. Following this, we'll experience the gentle beauty of Paris from the water with a leisurely boat cruise along the Seine. The afternoon is yours to explore Paris as you wish, whether you prefer to visit museums, shop, or simply wander through the charming streets and boulevards. By 4 p.m., we'll depart Paris for Normandy, where we'll arrive in the historic city of Rouen. Here, you can spend your free time delving into the city's fascinating past, exploring its well-preserved medieval architecture and the impressive Gothic cathedral. Do note that if queues at the Eiffel Tower are excessively long, we may need to rearrange our visit to suit your convenience.
Day 10 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
Today, we will begin by exploring the charming centre of Rouen, a city rich in history with its medieval architecture and an impressive Gothic cathedral. Our journey then takes us northward through the picturesque landscapes of France. We will cross the English Channel by ferry, an experience offering splendid views as we travel from France to England. Upon arrival, our first stop will be Canterbury, renowned as England's religious capital and known for its captivating historic centre. As we continue onwards to London, you'll have some leisure time to discover the area surrounding Tower Bridge, one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Well conclude the day by heading to our hotel for check-in and a restful evening.
Day 11 - London
Explore the vibrant city of London today with a panoramic tour led by a local guide. Youll discover the city's rich history and culture, seeing famous landmarks such as the Parliament, the River Thames, and Buckingham Palace, where you might catch the iconic Changing of the Guard, depending on the date. In the evening, well meet in Piccadilly and take a leisurely stroll through Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho. These areas are known for their dynamic atmosphere, theatres, and entertainment options. You'll have plenty of restaurants to choose from for dinner before we return to the hotel.
Day 12 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
Today, our day begins with a visit to the British Museum, one of the oldest and most prestigious museums in the world, showcasing a vast collection of artefacts from diverse cultures across the globe. After some free time in the museum, we'll head over to Camden, celebrated for its vibrant street market where you can peruse an array of unique items and savour lunch at one of the eclectic eateries or food stalls. By around 4:00 p.m., we'll depart for Colchester, famed as England's oldest recorded town. Enjoy a relaxed stroll through its historic streets before we proceed to Harwich to board our overnight ferry to the Netherlands. We'll stay in en suite cabins for a comfortable night at sea. Please note, due to limited cabin availability on the ferry, our itinerary may change. Alternatives could include a journey from London to Amsterdam by daytime ferry with a night in Antwerp, or a train or flight to Amsterdam.
Day 13 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
We arrive in the Netherlands at Hoek van Holland around eight in the morning. Our first stop is Volendam, a delightful fishing village known for its charming, scenic beauty. After exploring this picturesque locale, we continue our journey to Amsterdam, where we embark on a guided tour of the city. This tour showcases a blend of classic and modern highlights, starting with the iconic windmills and the Rembrandt statue. We then move on to the contemporary South District and visit Museum Square, where centuries-old traditions in diamond cutting come to life. After our bus tour, we'll take a leisurely walk into the city's vibrant heart, where the guided section of our day concludes. You will have the rest of the day free to explore Amsterdam at your own pace.
Day 14 - Amsterdam
Following breakfast, our journey concludes, allowing you to cherish the wonderful memories you've gathered throughout your travels.
