Day 1 - Lisbon
Upon your arrival in Lisbon, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel, allowing you to settle in and relax. The rest of the day is yours to explore at your leisure. In the afternoon, please check the hotel reception for information about the start of your tour. While no overnight stay is planned, use this time to immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this captivating city. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Lisbon
On the second day of our journey, we will explore the vibrant city of Lisbon. Known as the city of the seven hills, its allure lies in the charming winding alleys, iconic patterned tiles, the wistful feeling of "saudade," and the distinct Atlantic light that casts a beautiful glow over the cityscape. We will visit the historic Belem neighbourhood, famously the launch point for Portuguese navigators who set out to discover new worlds during the 15th century.The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisure. You might choose to wander through the lively Bairro Alto district, renowned for its viewpoints offering panoramic views of the city. Alternatively, you could opt for an excursion to the picturesque towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril, each offering their own unique charms.As evening falls, we will return to our hotel from the bustling Restauradores Square, an area replete with vibrant bars and cafs, perfect for soaking in the lively atmosphere of Lisbon.
Day 3 - Lisbon - Caceres - Madrid
We begin our day with an early departure from Portugal, venturing through the enchanting Alentejo region, known for its rolling landscapes and rustic charm. Our journey takes us to Estremoz, a delightful town characterised by its medieval castle and cobblestone streets, where we pause for a relaxing coffee break. Continuing our adventure into Spain, we arrive in Cceres. Here, you'll have the opportunity to savour lunch and wander through its historic centre, a well-preserved medieval and Renaissance gem that exemplifies the area's rich history. As the day progresses, we head to Madrid, reaching the vibrant Plaza Mayor in the evening. Alive with bustling restaurants and lively atmosphere, this iconic square promises to be a delightful introduction to the capital city.
Day 4 - Madrid
In the morning, well embark on a fascinating tour of central Madrid, showcasing its cultural and historical highlights. We'll journey along Paseo del Prado and visit Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and the iconic Plaza Mayor. Our exploration continues with a visit to Retiro Park, a peaceful oasis nestled in the heart of the city, featuring a picturesque lake and the stunning Palacio de Cristal. The tour includes entry to the Santiago Bernabu Stadium, home to Real Madrid, a club revered worldwide. The afternoon is yours to explore at leisure. Later, well return to the hotel for the evening.
Day 5 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
Today, we set off in the morning from Madrid, venturing into the historic lands of Castile as we make our way to Aragon. Our first stop is Zaragoza, where the breathtaking Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar awaits our admiration. We then continue onwards to visit the tranquil Poblet Abbey, with entrance tickets provided, allowing us to explore one of the worlds most impeccably preserved medieval monasteries. As the day unfolds, we reach our final destination, the vibrant city of Barcelona, arriving by evening.
Day 6 - Barcelona - Girona
In the morning, we will embark on a delightful exploration of Barcelona, often called the "City of Counts." This captivating city, situated on the Mediterranean coastline, is famed for its unique modernist architecture by Gaud, the lively Ramblas, and a rich tapestry of history featuring events like the Universal Exposition and the Olympic Games. Barcelona is effortlessly one of Europes most beautiful and intriguing capitals, offering a blend of the old and the new. As evening approaches, we will depart Barcelona and head north into the Catalonia region, where well stop in Girona. Here, well stroll through its charming historic centre, renowned for its colourful buildings, the ancient Jewish quarter, and impressive cathedral. Our day concludes with settling into our hotel to rest.
Day 7 - Girona - Carrieres des Lumieres - Chambery
As we set off towards France today, we pass through the picturesque region of Provence, renowned for its stunning landscapes and charming ambience. Our first stop is Arles, a delightful UNESCO World Heritage city celebrated for its connections to the artist Van Gogh. In Arles, you can explore impressive Roman structures like the theatre and admire the city's Romanesque churches. There will be plenty of time for you to wander and enjoy lunch here at your leisure. The journey continues as we take you to Carrires des Lumires, a unique underground art experience. Housed in an ancient quarry, this immersive show combines striking art, images, and sound to create a one-of-a-kind spectacle. In the evening, we reach Chambery, the captivating capital of Savoy. This medieval-style city enchants with its beautiful historic centre and large castle, offering a perfect close to your day.*Note: If tickets for Carrires des Lumires are unavailable, we will alternatively explore the Pont du Gard, an impressive Roman aqueduct.*
Day 8 - Chambery - Geneva - Gruyeres - Leysin
On the eighth day, we venture into Switzerland, arriving in the cosmopolitan city of Geneva. With our guide, we'll visit the Palais des Nations, home to the United Nations' European headquarters. We'll explore the lovely English Garden, famous for its flower clock, and admire the Jet dEau, Europe's tallest fountain. Our journey continues to the enchanting village of Gruyres, widely celebrated for its cheese. Nearby, we'll indulge in a sweet experience at the Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory, part of Switzerland's rich chocolate heritage, where admission and tastings are included. Well then travel through stunning mountain vistas and charming wooden villages, arriving at Chillon Castle, perched on the shores of Lake Geneva. The tour of this historic site, with admissions included, promises to delight. By mid-afternoon, well settle into Leysin, a delightful holiday village offering breathtaking views of the Rhne Valley and Mont Blanc. Well-known for its winter sports and hiking options, its an ideal place to unwind. Your evening meal is also provided. Please note that accommodation may occasionally be arranged in another delightful Swiss town nestled amid the Alps, such as Martigny.
Day 9 - Leysin - Interlaken - Lucerne - Zurich
Today promises breathtaking views of Switzerland's majestic mountain landscapes, so dress warmly for an unforgettable adventure. Well make our way to Glacier 3000, travelling via cable car to one of Switzerland's most awe-inspiring spots, where youll find snow and ice throughout the year. Here, youll have the opportunity to walk across a suspended bridge linking two mountain peaks, wander through the Ice Cathedral, or enjoy the Fun Park. We'll pause in the charming town of Interlaken for lunch, a perfect spot to savour your meal with stunning alpine scenery in the background. Following this, well continue our journey to Lucerne, renowned as one of Switzerland's most picturesque cities, where you can explore at leisure in the early evening. Our day concludes with our arrival in Zurich, where you'll have some time to immerse yourself in the vibrant city centre before we head to our accommodation. Please note that should the weather or other unexpected circumstances prevent the opening of the Glacier 3000 cable car, an alternative yet equally remarkable alpine experience will be arranged.
Day 10 - Zurich - Strasbourg - Paris
As we depart Zurich, we head towards the picturesque French region of Alsace. Our destination is its capital, Strasbourg, a city renowned for its unique blend of French and German influences. You will have ample time to explore and discover the charming streets at your own pace. In the afternoon, we continue on our journey to Paris, where we'll arrive in the evening, allowing you to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of this iconic city.
Day 11 - Paris
On our eleventh day, we delve into the splendour of France's history with a visit to the illustrious Palace of Versailles. Known for its breathtaking gardens and opulent architecture, Versailles offers a glimpse into the grandeur of the past, though please note that entry is not included. Afterward, we return to Paris and wander through Montmartre. This bohemian district is famed for its community of artists and vibrant cabaret scene, offering a charming atmosphere with its quaint streets and bustling squares. To capture the essence of Paris, we'll enjoy a panoramic city tour with a knowledgeable local guide, introducing you to the city's grand avenues and iconic landmarks. Following this enriching excursion, we return to the hotel. For those seeking evening entertainment, there's an optional variety show to consider.
Day 12 - Paris - Rouen
We begin our day in the heart of Paris with an iconic visit to the Eiffel Tower, where you can ascend to the second floor to take in panoramic views of the city (tickets are included). Following this, well enjoy a serene cruise along the River Seine, affording you a unique perspective of the citys landmarks. The afternoon is yours to uncover Pariss many delights at your own pace. At around 4:00 p.m., well leave the capital and travel to Normandy, reaching the historical city of Rouen. Here, you have the opportunity to wander through the historic centre, admiring its medieval charm and the striking Gothic cathedral, which offers a fascinating glimpse into the city's rich past. Note that if queues at the Eiffel Tower are particularly long, we may alter our visit time to ensure a smoother experience.
Day 13 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
Today, we'll begin with a leisurely walk through the heart of Rouen, a city steeped in history with its charming medieval streets and impressive Gothic cathedral. Following our exploration, we'll head to northern France and board a ferry to cross the English Channel. Our destination is Canterbury, the ecclesiastical capital of England, celebrated for its historic centre and impressive cathedral. Continuing our journey, we'll arrive in London. Here, youll have the chance to enjoy some free time in the Tower Bridge area, one of the city's most iconic landmarks, before we proceed to our hotel.
Day 14 - London
Enjoy a comprehensive tour of London with a local guide, where you'll gain an insight into the city's rich culture and history. Marvel at iconic landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, the River Thames, and Buckingham Palace, where you might catch the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony, depending on the schedule. In the evening, we'll establish a meeting point in Piccadilly to explore the vibrant areas of Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho. Day 15 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
This morning, we will explore the esteemed British Museum, which holds one of the world's most comprehensive collections from diverse cultures across the globe. After some leisure time for lunch, we will venture to Camden a vibrant district famous for its eclectic street market. Here, you can peruse unique items and sample culinary delights from a variety of international food stalls and quaint restaurants. By late afternoon, we will set off for Colchester, the oldest recorded town in England, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll through its historic streets. We will then continue our journey to Harwich to board an overnight ferry to the Netherlands, where you'll stay in an en suite cabin. Please note that due to the limited availability of cabins, our itinerary may change; as such, we might instead travel from London to Amsterdam via a daytime ferry with an overnight stay in Antwerp, or alternatively, take a train or flight to Amsterdam.
Day 16 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
Upon arriving at Hook of Holland around 8:00 a.m., we will head to the charming fishing village of Volendam. Known for its picturesque harbour and traditional Dutch houses, Volendam offers a delightful glimpse into the local culture. We will then continue to Amsterdam, where a panoramic tour awaits. During this tour, we will explore the citys iconic landmarks and discover the intricate diamond-cutting techniques that Amsterdam is famous for. In the evening, a transfer will take you to Rembrandtplein a vibrant area brimming with restaurants offering global cuisines. It's the perfect spot for your introduction to Prague, with an array of restaurants offering diverse culinary delights, from traditional Czech dishes to Chinese, Indian, and Italian fare. After a satisfying dinner, we'll make our way back to the hotel for a restful night.
Day 20 - Prague
Today, we delve into the rich history and stunning architecture of Prague, often referred to as the "Baroque jewel of Europe."
