Day 1 - Lisbon
Welcome to your journey in Lisbon. Upon arrival, we'll arrange a seamless transfer to your hotel, allowing you some free time to relax and acclimatise to your new surroundings. Later in the afternoon, you can find essential details regarding the start of your tour conveniently displayed on the information boards located at the hotel reception. Enjoy this initial taste of Lisbon's renowned hospitality. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Lisbon
In the morning, we embark on a captivating tour of Lisbon, the picturesque capital renowned for its seven hills. We'll discover its enchanting lanes, iconic decorative tiles, and experience the unique sense of "saudade" under the stunning Atlantic light. Our exploration includes a visit to the historic neighbourhood of Belm, the launching point for Portuguese explorers who voyaged across the oceans in the 15th century. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure perhaps wander through Bairro Alto and take in the views from its scenic viewpoint, or consider an optional excursion to the charming towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. In the evening, we return to our hotel from the vibrant Restauradores Square, alive with an array of lively bars and cafs.
Day 3 - Lisbon - Caceres - Madrid
On day three, we begin our travels from Portugal with an early departure, making our way through the scenic Alentejo region. We'll pause for a coffee break in Estremoz, known for its medieval allure, characterised by cobbled streets, a historic castle, and enchanting architecturetruly capturing the essence of Portugal. As we press on towards Spain, we reach Cceres, where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch and explore its historic centre. This area is renowned for its remarkably preserved medieval and Renaissance buildings. Our journey concludes in Madrid, where we arrive in the evening, offering a chance to experience the lively atmosphere of Plaza Mayor, filled with bustling restaurants and vibrant activities.
Day 4 - Madrid
Begin your day exploring the vibrant heart of Madrid. Our tour will guide you through the city's notable landmarks, such as the Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and the iconic Plaza Mayor. Well take you to Retiro Park, a serene oasis in the city centre, where you can enjoy the tranquil lake and the magnificent Palacio de Cristal. Admission to the Santiago Bernabu Stadium, home of Real Madridcelebrated as one of the finest football clubs in the worldfollows. The afternoon is yours to enjoy. In the evening, well provide a convenient transfer back to the hotel.
Day 5 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
We will depart Madrid in the morning, heading towards the region of Aragon via the scenic landscapes of Castile. Our first destination is Zaragoza, home to the breathtaking Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, a remarkable example of Baroque architecture. After taking in the splendour of this iconic landmark, well continue our journey to Poblet Abbey. Known as one of the best-preserved medieval monasteries in the world, Poblet offers a serene glimpse into monastic life, and admission is included for you to explore its historic grounds. Following our visit, well travel onwards to Barcelona, anticipating our arrival in the evening.
Day 6 - Barcelona - Girona
On the sixth day of our adventure, we'll explore Barcelona, known as the City of Counts. Situated alongside the breathtaking Mediterranean Sea, this vibrant metropolis captivates with its unique blend of modernist architecture by Antoni Gaud, like the Sagrada Familia and Park Gell, and the lively atmosphere of the famous Ramblas. A city rich in history and culture, it was host to both the Universal Exposition and the Olympics, cementing its reputation as one of Europe's most fascinating capitals.By evening, we journey north through Catalonia, arriving in the historic town of Girona. Here, we'll take a leisurely stroll through its charming old town, famous for its vibrant coloured houses along the River Onyar, the well-preserved Jewish Quarter, and the striking cathedral that stands as a testament to the region's rich past. As night falls, we'll settle into our accommodation, ready for the next day's adventures.
Day 7 - Girona - Carrieres des Lumieres - Chambery
Today, we journey into France through the scenic Provence region. Our first destination is the enchanting Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its connections to Vincent van Gogh. In Arles, we'll have the opportunity to explore the Roman theatre and charming Romanesque churches. Following some free time for lunch and sightseeing, we continue our adventure to Carrires des Lumires. This striking underground art exhibition, set within an ancient quarry, showcases a mesmerising blend of art, imagery, and sound that promises to captivate your senses. As we conclude our day, we'll arrive in Chambry, the picturesque capital of Savoy. Here, you'll discover a charming medieval city with a beautifully preserved historic centre and an impressive castle. Note: If tickets for the Carrires des Lumires are unavailable, we'll provide an alternative visit to the Pont du Gard, a remarkable Roman aqueduct.
Day 8 - Chambery - Geneva - Gruyeres - Leysin
Today, we embark on a delightful journey to Switzerland, beginning with our arrival in Geneva. Accompanied by our guide, we'll explore the city's key sites, including the Palais des Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations. You'll appreciate the stunning English Garden, home to the iconic flower clock, and marvel at the Jet dEau, the tallest fountain in Europe. From Geneva, we travel to the enchanting walled village of Gruyres, renowned worldwide for its delicious cheese. Nearby, some of Switzerland's major chocolate manufacturers, including Nestl, await your interest. Weve included a visit to the Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory, ensuring you'll have a memorable tasting experience. Continuing on scenic roads, enjoy the bucolic mountain views and the charming wooden villages en route to Chillon Castle, majestically situated on the shores of Lake Geneva, where admission is included. We will reach Leysin by mid-afternoon, a quaint holiday village offering breathtaking views of the Rhne Valley and Mont Blanc. Known for its winter sports and hiking opportunities, Leysin promises a rewarding experience. Dinner is included this evening, rounding off a wonderful day. Please note: Accommodation may occasionally be in another charming Swiss town nestled in the Alps, such as Martigny, depending on availability.
Day 9 - Leysin - Interlaken - Lucerne - Zurich
Today, we invite you to immerse yourself in the breathtaking mountain scenery of Switzerland. Be sure to pack your winter clothing as we ascend to Glacier 3000 via cable car, one of the most spectacular year-round destinations offering stunning views and unique experiences. Here, you can walk on the thrilling suspension bridge that connects two mountain peaks, explore the intriguing Ice Cathedral, or enjoy the Fun Park. Following this alpine adventure, we will stop in the picturesque town of Interlaken for a leisurely lunch. Our journey then continues to Lucerne, a city boasting a stunning lakeside setting and charming old town architecture. As evening falls, we travel to Zurich, where you'll have some time to explore the vibrant city centre before we head to our hotel. Please note that if weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances affect the operation of the Glacier 3000 cable car, we will provide an equally impressive alternative experience for you to enjoy the majestic alpine landscapes.
Day 10 - Zurich - Strasbourg - Paris
Today, we'll leave the vibrant city of Zurich behind as we journey into the French region of Alsace. Our first stop is Strasbourg, the capital of this picturesque area that seamlessly blends French and German influences. You'll have time to wander through its charming streets, perhaps stopping to admire the stunning Gothic cathedral or enjoying a leisurely caf visit. Following our exploration in Strasbourg, we'll continue onwards to the iconic city of Paris, where we'll arrive in the evening, ready to immerse ourselves in the magic of the French capital.
Day 11 - Paris
We begin our exploration of France's rich history with a visit to the magnificent Palace of Versailles, celebrated for its stunning gardens (please note that admission is not included). Upon returning to Paris, we will explore Montmartre, a delightful bohemian neighbourhood renowned for its vibrant artist community, historic cabarets, and the lively atmosphere that inspired many renowned painters. Later, well embark on a panoramic city tour guided by a local expert, offering a glimpse into Paris's grand avenues and timeless monuments. The day concludes with a return to our hotel. For those interested, the evening presents an opportunity to attend an optional variety show to further enrich your Parisian experience.
Day 12 - Paris - Rouen
Today, our journey begins in the heart of Paris with a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower, where you'll have the opportunity to ascend to the second floor and admire sweeping views of the city. This visit is included, ensuring you can enjoy one of the world's most famous landmarks without hassle. Afterwards, we will delight in a serene boat cruise along the River Seine, providing a unique perspective of this beautiful city and its stunning architecture. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to explore the charms of Paris at your own pace, perhaps wandering through its charming streets or visiting a museum.Later in the day, at around 4:00 p.m., we will leave the captivating capital behind as we head towards the picturesque region of Normandy, arriving in Rouen. Upon arrival, you can immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of this vibrant city, famed for its medieval architecture and magnificent Gothic cathedral. The historic centre, which dates back to Roman times, offers a delightful blend of historic charm and cultural intrigue for you to discover at your leisure. Note that if the waiting time for the Eiffel Tower is lengthy, we may adjust the schedule to ensure a more convenient visit experience.
Day 13 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
On the thirteenth day, spend the morning exploring the historic centre of Rouen, where you can immerse yourself in its rich medieval architecture and vibrant atmosphere. Later, we'll set off for northern France, crossing the English Channel by ferry. Our journey takes us to Canterbury, renowned as the spiritual heart of England, where you can wander its charming streets steeped in history. Continuing our travels, we arrive in London. Here, enjoy some free time in the iconic Tower Bridge area, a striking symbol of the city, before we retire to the hotel for the evening.
Day 14 - London
We commence our exploration of London with a panoramic tour guided by a local expert, showcasing the city's captivating culture and rich history. You'll have the chance to admire iconic landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, the River Thames, and Buckingham Palace, where you might be lucky enough to witness the famed Changing of the Guard, depending on the day's schedule. In the evening, well gather at a designated meeting point in Piccadilly, from which well set off on a walk through the vibrant districts of Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho. Day 15 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
Today begins with a visit to the British Museum, one of the world's most venerable institutions, where we will explore a vast collection representing cultures from across the globe. Following some free time for lunch, you'll have the opportunity to wander through Camden, a district famed for its eclectic street market and a plethora of food stalls offering international cuisine.At approximately 4:00 p.m., we'll set off for Colchester, regarded as England's oldest recorded town. Well enjoy a leisurely stroll through its historic streets, soaking up the rich heritage. Our journey continues to Harwich, where we'll board a ferry for an overnight crossing to the Netherlands. You'll stay in en suite cabins for a comfortable night's passage.It's important to note that due to limited cabin availability, itineraries might need adjustments. Alternatives could include travelling from London to Amsterdam via a daytime ferry with a night in Antwerp, or possibly opting for a train or flight to Amsterdam.
Day 16 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
We disembark at Hoek van Holland around eight in the morning and set off to explore Volendam, a quaint fishing village known for its traditional Dutch charm and vibrant atmosphere. After soaking up the picturesque scenes, we continue our journey to Amsterdam. Upon arrival, we embark on a guided city tour that showcases Amsterdam's unique blend of past and present. You'll see the iconic image of a windmill and the Rembrandt statue, along with the modern elegance of the South District and the fascinating tradition of diamond cutting at the Museum Square. The guided segment of our tour concludes with a leisurely walk through the city centre, after which you'll have free time to explore Amsterdam at your own pace.
Day 17 - Amsterdam - Hamelin - Berlin
Today, we leave Amsterdam behind as we venture into Germany. Our first stop is the enchanting town of Hamelin. Famous for the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, the Pied Piper of Hamelin, the town is filled with charm, featuring wonderful shops and historic streets that evoke the magical legend. From Hamelin, our journey continues to Berlin, and along the way, we will pass through Marienborn. This once-significant border crossing separated East and West Germany until the countrys reunification in 1990. We will arrive in Berlin in the evening, ready to experience the vibrant spirit of Germany's capital.
Day 18 - Berlin
Explore the vibrant culture of Berlin, Germany's remarkable capital, with the guidance of a local expert. Our tour begins aboard our coach, offering views of iconic sites such as Museum Island and the imposing Television Tower. You'll also see the bustling city centre with its main shopping streets, the historic cathedral ruins from World War II, and, of course, the renowned Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag. The city's vast parks provide a refreshing contrast to the urban landscape. We'll make meaningful stops at the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum, both poignant reminders of Germanys complex 20th-century history.
