Day 1 - Lisbon
Upon your arrival in Lisbon, a warm welcome awaits as we arrange your transfer to the hotel. After settling in, you'll have some free time to acclimatise and explore as you wish. In the afternoon, be sure to check the hotel reception area for the boards that will provide details on the commencement of your tour. Enjoy the beginning of your adventure in this stunning city, where the past and present blend seamlessly against the backdrop of the Atlantic. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Lisbon
On the second day, we'll delve into the enchanting city of Lisbon, famously built upon seven hills. Our morning will be spent on a guided exploration of the city, as we weave through its charming alleys adorned with iconic tiles, enveloped in the unique feeling of "saudade" and illuminated by the captivating Atlantic light. We'll visit the historic Belem neighbourhood, a significant area from where Portugal's legendary navigators embarked on their ocean-crossing voyages in the 15th century. In the afternoon, you have the freedom to stroll through the city and perhaps visit Bairro Alto, known for its lively energy and delightful viewpoints. Alternatively, you might opt for an excursion to the picturesque towns of Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. Our day concludes with a return to the hotel from the vibrant Restauradores Square, where you're surrounded by lively bars and cafes, perfect for soaking in the local atmosphere.
Day 3 - Lisbon - Caceres - Madrid
We will depart early from Portugal, traversing the scenic Alentejo region. Our first pause will be in Estremoz, a quaint town defined by its medieval castle, cobblestone streets, and distinctive architectureall quintessentially Portuguese. Here, you can enjoy a morning coffee before we continue our journey into Spain. Upon arrival in Cceres, you'll have the opportunity to explore its historic centre. This well-preserved medieval and Renaissance enclave offers a perfect setting for lunch and a leisurely stroll. Our day concludes as we reach Madrid in the evening, where a transfer will take us to Plaza Mayora lively hub brimming with restaurants and vibrant energy.
Day 4 - Madrid
Today's adventure begins with a detailed tour of central Madrid, showcasing prominent sites such as Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcal, Plaza de Coln, and Plaza Mayor. Well take you to Retiro Park for a relaxing stroll around its tranquil lake and the elegant Palacio de Cristal. A special visit to the renowned Santiago Bernabu Stadium, home to the illustrious Real Madrid football club, is included. For the rest of the afternoon, feel free to explore Madrid at your own pace. In the evening, well arrange a transfer back to your hotel, ensuring a comfortable end to your day in this vibrant city.
Day 5 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
We will depart Madrid in the morning, travelling through the scenic plains of Castile as we make our way to Aragon. Our first stop is Zaragoza, where you'll be captivated by the splendid Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, a remarkable example of Baroque architecture. Following this, we will proceed to the peaceful Poblet Abbey, one of the best-preserved medieval monasteries globally, where we have arranged your entry. The tranquil atmosphere and historical significance of Poblet make it a must-see. We will then continue our journey to Barcelona, arriving in the evening.
Day 6 - Barcelona
In the morning, we will set off on a panoramic tour of Barcelona, often recognised as one of Europe's most captivating cities. This dynamic metropolis, perched by the Mediterranean Sea, is celebrated for its modernist architecture by Antoni Gaud, lively avenues like Las Ramblas, and a rich tapestry of history, underscored by events such as the Universal Exposition and the Olympics. The afternoon is yours to explore at leisure, providing a perfect opportunity to delve deeper into the unique charm of this remarkable city.
Day 7 - Barcelona
After enjoying breakfast, our tour concludes, and we bid farewell, hoping you depart with fond and lasting memories of your experience.
