Day 1 - Warsaw
Welcome to your adventure! Upon arriving in Warsaw, we will transfer you to your hotel, allowing you a chance to settle in and unwind. You'll have free time to explore at your own pace perhaps take a stroll through Warsaw's vibrant streets or enjoy the cultural offerings of the city. In the afternoon, you can find detailed information about the start of your journey on the notice boards located in the hotel reception area. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Warsaw
We'll begin our day in Warsaw with a panoramic tour guided by a local expert. As the political and economic heart of Poland, Warsaw is a city where modern architecture stands alongside carefully restored historical landmarks. We'll explore the enchanting old town, traversing its cobbled streets lined with historic buildings and visiting the Royal Palace. Remarkably reconstructed after World War II, this area is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our next stop is the Palace of Culture and Science, a towering relic gifted by the Soviet Union. We'll also reflect on the poignant history of the area that once contained Europes largest Jewish ghetto and then wander through the peaceful Lazienki Park, where the renowned Chopin Monument resides.The afternoon offers free time to delve deeper into Warsaw's cultural or historical attractions at your own pace. You might wish to explore the impressive exhibitions at the National Museum or the poignant displays at the Warsaw Rising Museum. Alternatively, the lively city centre beckons with numerous shops and engaging activities.
Day 3 - Warsaw - Olsztyn - Elblag Canal - Malbork - Gdansk
Following breakfast, we embark on our journey northward to explore the treasures of northern Poland. Our first destination is Olsztynek, where we will visit the fascinating open-air Museum of Folk Architecture. This captivating site showcases traditional wooden houses, historic mills, and a picturesque church, offering a glimpse into Polands rural past and all included in our experience.Continuing onwards, we head to the Elblag Canal, celebrated as the longest navigable canal in Poland. Here, well delve into its unique engineering marvel, where boats are transported over land using a system of rails to negotiate differences in water levels a truly impressive sight.Next, our adventure takes us to Malbork Castle, one of Europes grand medieval fortresses, and constructed by the legendary Teutonic Knights in the 13th century. Admission is covered, and we'll follow the intriguing green route within this UNESCO World Heritage site, marvelling at its storied history and architectural splendour.As evening approaches, we arrive in Gdansk, formerly known as Danzig. With its enchanting historic centre, Gdansk offers a vibrant atmosphere and is perfect for an evening stroll. We highly recommend taking the time to absorb its lively, charming ambiance.
Day 4 - Gdansk - Sopot - Sopot - Nynshamn Ferry
After enjoying breakfast, we will embark on a guided tour of the European Solidarity Centre in Gdansk. This remarkable building tells the story of the Solidarity movement, which significantly contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union. Youll have the opportunity to view the poignant monument dedicated to the workers who lost their lives. Admission to the Museum of the Second World War is included in our itinerary. Opened in 2017, this museum serves as a stark reminder of the millions who perished in Poland during this devastating conflict. Following the museum visit, there will be a chance to explore the historic centre of Gdansk at your leisure. Later, we'll travel to Sopot, a delightful seaside resort along the Baltic Sea. Known for its lively atmosphere, sandy beaches, and one of Europe's longest wooden piers, Sopot offers both relaxation and stunning views. In the evening, we will board a modern ferry, resembling a cruise ship, for our overnight journey to Sweden. Our ferry departs at 19:30, and youll be accommodated in comfortable cabins with breakfast included.
Day 5 - Sopot - Nynshamn Ferry - Stockholm
After a relaxing ferry journey, we will arrive in Karlskrona, located in southern Sweden, around 6:30 a.m. Our journey continues with a stop in Vstervik, a picturesque seaside town known for its charming historic centre. In the afternoon, we will arrive in the stunning city of Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, a place spread across fourteen islands within the Baltic Sea archipelago. Connected by a network of bridges and ferries, Stockholm offers a mesmerising blend of rich history and modern sophistication. The afternoon is yours to explore as you wish. We suggest taking a stroll through the historic centre, where you can visit various fascinating museums or enjoy the tranquil beauty of its verdant parks.
Day 6 - Stockholm - Mora
Following breakfast, we'll embark on a guided tour of Stockholm, an enchanting city connected by a network of fourteen islands. Water is a prominent feature here, adding to the city's charm. Our exploration begins in Gamla Stan, the vibrant old town nestled 'between the bridges'. This area is teeming with historic monuments, including the Nobel Museum at Stortorget, which celebrates the achievements of Nobel Prize laureates. We'll also visit the majestic Cathedral and the Royal Palace. From the Fjllgatan viewpoint, we'll enjoy panoramic views of the city.Once the tour concludes, you'll have free time to discover more of Stockholm's attractions at your own pace. Perhaps revisit favourite spots from the morning or explore new corners of this captivating city. By 4:00 p.m., we'll set off northwest through Sweden's scenic countryside. The journey offers a delightful array of landscapes, featuring rolling hills, fertile farmland, quaint towns, and serene lakes. As evening approaches, well arrive in Mora, a charming town nestled between two lakes. This is a historic location, known for its pivotal role in 1521 when Gustav I of Sweden rallied the locals here to rise against Danish invaders. We conclude the day with our arrival in this picturesque setting.
Day 7 - Mora - Funsdalen - Roros - Trondheim
Today, we'll embark on a scenic journey from Sweden to Norway, leaving Mora in the early morning. Our route will take us through expansive forests, tranquil lakes, and majestic mountain ranges. Our first stop is Funsdalen, a renowned ski resort offering a glimpse of the charming alpine lifestyle.Continuing onwards, we'll arrive in Rros, a picturesque town famous for its rich mining heritage that has earned it World Heritage Site status. You'll have time to explore Rros' historic centre, noted for its beautifully preserved miners' houses and the intriguing museum that delves into its past as a significant foundry town. This quaint location invites you to stroll its atmospheric streets and enjoy a leisurely lunch.The day's journey proceeds as we head towards Trondheim, situated on Norway's central coast. Known as the nations third-largest city, Trondheim is steeped in history, dating back to the Viking era and once served as the medieval capital of Norway. Explore noteworthy sites such as the striking 11th-century cathedral and the iconic old bridge arching over the canal. In the evening, experience Trondheim's vibrant nightlife and an array of dining options, giving you a taste of the city's contemporary charm.
Day 8 - Trondheim - Kristiansund - Atlantic Road - Molde
Today, after exploring the centre of Trondheim, we continue our adventure with breathtaking views of the Norwegian Sea's coastlines and fjords. We will cross a fjord by ferry, adding a unique touch to the picturesque journey, before reaching Kristiansund. This city, famed for its striking natural surroundings, has rich fishing traditions and is spread across a series of islands interconnected by bridges. Here, you'll have the chance to wander through its city centre, rich with cobblestone streets, inviting shops, and cosy cafes, and enjoy lunch at your leisure.Our itinerary then takes us to the Kvernes Stave Church, a remarkable piece of 14th-century architecture where you'll find intriguing historic artefacts, including a model ship that's over 300 years old. Following this, our route embraces the Atlantic Road, often praised as one of the worlds most stunning coastal drives. This unbelievable stretch of road, arcing gracefully across a series of bridges that connect the islands, is renowned for its dramatic beauty, especially when the ocean's waves crash against the rocky terrain. We will take a moment to pause and absorb these awe-inspiring views at one of the road's scenic viewpoints.By evening, we'll find ourselves in Molde, a lively town nestled on a fjord and a frequent stop for cruise ships.
Day 9 - Molde - Geiranger - Briksdalsbreen - Loen
Today promises to be a feast for the eyes as we delve into Norway's stunning landscapes, filled with UNESCO World Heritage fjords, majestic glaciers, and charming villages. Our day will commence with a ferry ride across the scenic Romsdal Fjord, lasting approximately 50 minutes, offering panoramas of the rugged Norwegian terrain. Continuing our ascent into the snow-tipped mountains, well descend towards the impressive Storfjorden. A second ferry crossing, around 30 minutes in duration, will transport us to the breathtaking Eagle Viewpoint, where you'll enjoy commanding views over the renowned Geiranger Fjorda true spectacle of natural beauty.Upon arriving in Geiranger, a town set against this dramatic backdrop, you'll have free time to soak in the surroundings. You might choose to embark on a boat excursion along the fjord, amble casually by the cascading waterfalls, or simply relax in the charming village. Post-lunch, well continue through the spectacular mountain landscapes dotted with fjords, until reaching Briksdalsbreen. Here, you'll have the opportunity to either hike or take an electric vehicle (optional) to the base of the awe-inspiring glacier, set amidst breathtaking scenery.We will conclude the day in the quaint town of Loen, situated by the fjord. Dinner will be provided, and youll have the chance to ride one of the steepest cable cars globally, which ascends over 1,000 meters, offering yet another perspective of Norways dramatic natural environment.
Day 10 - Loen - Bergen
Today we embark on a spectacular journey from Loen to Bergen, covering nearly 300 kilometres of some of Norway's most captivating scenery. Our route will take us along the picturesque shores of fjords and over majestic mountains, with a scenic ferry ride included along the way. We aim to reach Bergen by lunchtime. Once there, we'll offer a thrilling cable car ride up Flyen Mountain, where you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the city below. Bergen, Norway's second-largest city, invites you to explore its rich history and vibrant cultural life, set against the backdrop of stunning natural beauty. Your afternoon is free to wander through Bryggen, the historic dock district with its distinctive wooden buildings painted in lively hues, now recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you're interested, you can visit Bergen's acclaimed Aquarium or explore the bustling fish market, brimming with quaint eateries offering local delicacies.
Day 11 - Bergen - Eidfjord - Voringfossen - Geilo - Oslo
Well begin our eleventh day by departing Bergen early in the morning, heading deep into the picturesque heart of Norway. Our route will take us across the majestic suspension bridge spanning the Hardanger Fjord, widely admired as one of the nations most stunning fjords. Our first stop is the quaint town of Eidfjord, perched gracefully at the fjord's edge. From here, we'll journey to Voringsfossen, which is renowned as Norways most spectacular waterfall due to its dramatic 182-metre cascade. Well spend some time exploring the viewpoints and bridges that grant breathtaking vistas of this natural marvel.After our visit to the waterfall, well continue traversing through striking landscapes characterised by stark, chilly high plateaus, scattered with small lakes that remain frozen for most of the year, and fields of snow. Our path will lead us to Geilo, an inviting ski resort town where well pause for a leisurely lunch. Post-lunch, well resume our journey towards Oslo, aiming to arrive in the evening. Upon our arrival in Oslo, you may wish to wander through the vibrant city centre, take in the history at the harbour, or ascend to the rooftop terrace of the modern Opera House for sweeping views of the city.
Day 12 - Oslo - Oslo - Copenhagen Ferry
On Day 12, well start the day with a panoramic tour of Oslo, Norway's vibrant capital known for its commitment to green spaces and sustainable living. With the guidance of a knowledgeable local, we'll take in the sights of the Royal Palace, appreciate the striking sculptures in Frogner Park, and admire the exterior of the Town Hall. We'll also pass by the historic harbour and the impressive, modern Opera House. Once the city tour concludes, youll have some free time to explore at your own pace. Consider visiting one of Oslo's renowned museums or enjoy a leisurely lunch in the city. In the afternoon, well board a modern night ferry, a comfortable vessel akin to a cruise ship, destined for Denmark. Youll enjoy the amenities on board as we sail across the sea, spending the afternoon and night in our cosy cabins. A delightful breakfast will be included as part of your journey. Please note, the ferry is scheduled to depart at 3:00 p.m., and check-in begins at 2:00 p.m., with arrival in Copenhagen expected at 10:00 a.m.; however, ferry schedules can be subject to change.
Day 13 - Oslo - Copenhagen Ferry - Copenhagen
Upon arriving in Copenhagen in the morning, you'll join us for a panoramic tour of this vibrant Danish capital, guided by a local expert. Known for its high quality of life and dedication to sustainability, Copenhagen is steeped in a rich cultural heritage. Well visit iconic landmarks such as The Little Mermaid statue and Nyhavn Harbour, where you'll be enchanted by the colourful historic buildings lining the water's edge. Experience the grandeur of Amalienborg Palace, the residence of the Danish royal family, and explore the bustling City Hall Square and the renowned Tivoli Gardens area. The afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish, providing an opportunity to delve into the city's myriad attractions at your own pace. Whether you fancy discovering Copenhagens museums, sampling its culinary delights, or enjoying a leisurely stroll through its charming streets, the choice is yours.
Day 14 - Copenhagen - Rostock - Szczecin
In the morning, we depart for Gedser, the southernmost point of Scandinavia, arriving in time for a ferry crossing to Germany around 11:00 a.m. This modern ferry will take us across the Baltic Sea to Rostock in approximately two hours, and we suggest enjoying lunch aboard as you take in the views. Once in Rostock, you'll have the chance to explore this lively city, home to Germanys largest Baltic port. Notable highlights include the bustling Market Square, the historic City Hall, and the impressive St. Marys Church. Following our visit, we continue our journey through the picturesque Pomerania region, making our way into Poland. We anticipate arriving in Szczecin by evening, a city rich in history set along the Oder River. Here, you'll find the charming old town with sites such as the Pomeranian Dukes Castle and delightful riverside terraces. The evening is yours to wander the historic streets and absorb the local ambiance.
Day 15 - Szczecin - Bydgoszcz - Torun - Warsaw
Following breakfast, we set off through the serene landscapes of western Poland. This region was once part of Germany until the close of World War II, and its past is quietly reflected in the architecture and culture. Our first destination is Bydgoszcz, a city rich in history and picturesque beauty, known for its enchanting parks and waterways connecting the Vistula and Oder rivers. Youll have the opportunity to explore the charming streets and enjoy a leisurely lunch amidst this scenic backdrop.In the afternoon, we continue to Toru?, a walled Gothic city whose historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Famous as the birthplace of astronomer Copernicus, Toru? invites you to wander its beautifully preserved streets. If youre interested, you might choose to visit the museum dedicated to his legacy.
