Itinerary
Day 1 - Cusco - Puno
We begin with a transfer from your hotel to Cusco bus station for a shared tourist bus journey to Puno, lasting between eight and ten hours. While there is no guide on board, an assistant will be available throughout the trip. The route offers stunning Andean landscapes and includes three notable stops. First, we visit Andahuaylillas, a small town 40 kilometres from Cusco, where you can admire the 16th-century church known as the Sistine Chapel of America for its ornate baroque interior and delicate frescoes, as well as its recently restored original pipe organ. Next, we continue to Racchi to explore the impressive Temple of Wiracocha, a large rectangular structure measuring 30 metres wide by 20 metres high, notable for its window and door-like features. After this, we enjoy lunch in Sicuani before a brief stop at La Raya, the highest point on the route at 4,313 metres above sea level. Our final visit is to Pucara, the earliest urban settlement in the region dating from 100 to 300 AD, where you can explore the Pucara Lithic Museum. We then proceed to Puno, where you will check in to your hotel for the night.
Day 2 - Puno
After breakfast at the hotel, we transfer you to the port of Puno to board a boat for a visit to the remarkable Uros Islands. These ancient islands are man-made, constructed from the abundant totora reeds that grow in Lake Titicaca. The Uros people build their homes atop the reeds and cook outdoors to reduce fire risk. Following an hour and a half exploring this unique community, we continue to Taquile Island, once part of the Inca Empire. Here, you will receive a brief introduction to the islands history and observe a traditional cultural demonstration. After enjoying a delicious lunch on Taquile, we return to Puno for your overnight stay.
Day 3 - Puno
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before we transfer you from your hotel to the airport, ensuring a smooth start to your next destination.
