Day 2 - Cusco
After breakfast at the hotel, you have the morning free to explore the city at your own pace. In the afternoon, we begin with a visit to Coricancha, known as the Temple of the Sun. Built by Inca ruler Pachacuti, this site later became the foundation for the Santo Domingo Convent following the Spanish conquest. Next, we visit the Cathedral, the most prominent building on the Main Square. We then head to Sacsayhuaman, a remarkable Inca fortress constructed in the 15th century with massive stones fitted together so precisely that their assembly remains a mystery. Our tour continues to Qenqo, an archaeological complex used for religious and agricultural rituals. Finally, we visit Puka Pukara, or Red Fort, located seven kilometres from the city. This complex likely served a military purpose and includes plazas, baths, aqueducts and towers, believed to have been a resting place for the Inca entourage near Tambomachay. After the tour, we return to your hotel for the evening.
Day 3 - Cusco - Chinchero - Yucay
After breakfast, we collect you from your hotel in Cusco for a visit to Chinchero, a traditional Andean town perched high above the valley. The local community maintains their artisan heritage and Inca traditions, evident in their clothing and customs. Here, youll also see archaeological remains and a seventeenth-century church, one of Perus earliest Catholic buildings. Next, we transfer you to Ollantaytambo and visit the Living Museum of Yucay, where traditional Andean crafts such as textile weaving, adobe construction, pottery, and silverwork are demonstrated using ancient techniques. The museum is home to llamas, sheep, and alpacas, which you can feed. Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, explore the town, continuously inhabited since Inca times, and climb the impressive fortress built beside the mountain. Enjoy lunch in Ollantaytambo, savouring authentic Andean cuisine in a welcoming setting that reflects the spirit of the Sacred Valley. On Sundays, the visit includes the local market. After the days activities, we return you to your hotel in the Sacred Valley for an overnight stay.
Day 4 - Cusco
After breakfast at the hotel, we transfer you to Ollanta train station to begin your journey to Machu Picchu. The train ride to Aguas Calientes also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo takes around two hours. This small town is the gateway to the archaeological site and offers a craft market, restaurants and a range of accommodation for those who wish to stay overnight before an early ascent. From Aguas Calientes, a short bus transfer brings you to Machu Picchu, an extraordinary example of Inca engineering and architecture. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, once a sanctuary and retreat for the Inca ruler Pachacuti, is recognised as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After exploring the site, we return to Aguas Calientes for lunch at Caf Inkaterra before taking the train back to Cusco. You will spend the night in Cusco.
Day 5 - Cusco
After breakfast, we provide a comfortable transfer from your hotel to Cusco Airport for your onward flight. This concludes your journey with us.
