Day 2 - Lima
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a free morning at your leisure. At midday, we will take you to the Caf del Museo restaurant for lunch, followed by a guided tour of Limas historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its colonial architecture. The tour begins at the Larco Museum, housed in a former vice-royal mansion built atop a seventh-century pre-Columbian temple. The museum features an extensive collection of gold and silver artefacts, pottery, and notable erotic art. Next, we visit Casa de Aliaga, Limas oldest colonial mansion, continuously inhabited by the Aliaga family since 1535, when conquistador Francisco Pizarro granted the land to Jernimo de Aliaga. We then explore the colonial heart of the city, including the impressive Plaza de Armas, the Government Palace, and the sixteenth-century Cathedral of Lima. The tour concludes back at your hotel, where you can freshen up before joining us for a Peruvian gourmet dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Lima.
Day 3 - Lima - Sacred Valley
After breakfast, we will transfer you to Lima airport for your domestic flight to Cusco, ensuring your arrival no later than 10:30 to keep to the schedule. Upon landing in the Imperial City, you will be met and driven to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. En route, we will visit the Yucay Museum of Living Culture, where you can observe traditional Andean crafts such as textiles, adobe pottery, and silverwork, all made using techniques dating back to Inca times. Here, you will also have the chance to feed llamas, sheep, and alpacas. Following this, you will participate in a traditional Inca ceremony led by a shaman, who will perform a blessing to accompany you throughout your journey. After checking in, enjoy a free afternoon to relax and take in the stunning surroundings and pleasant climate. Overnight in the Sacred Valley.
Day 4 - Sacred Valley
After breakfast at the hotel, we travel through the Sacred Valley to visit the archaeological site of Moray, approximately an hour and a half away by car. This site features distinctive concentric circular terraces, believed to have been used for agricultural experiments due to the varying microclimates at each level, with temperature differences of up to 15C between the top and bottom. Following Moray, we continue to Maras to see the extensive salt pools that have been harvested since Inca times. These salt pans not only create a striking landscape but also support local families through traditional salt production. The nearby town of Maras was established by the Spanish during the colonial period to manage salt extraction. After the visit, enjoy a traditional lunch before returning to your hotel for a free afternoon to relax and take in the surrounding scenery. Overnight in the Sacred Valley.
Day 5 - Aguas Calientes
After breakfast, we transfer you to Ollanta station to begin your journey to Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a scenic train ride of approximately two hours to Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo, the gateway to this iconic archaeological site. Machu Picchu is believed to have been built around 1450 as a royal estate for the Inca emperor Pachactec. Abandoned just over a century later, likely due to the Spanish Conquest, the site remained hidden beneath dense jungle until its rediscovery in 1911. Your guided tour will explore the origins of the citadel and take you through key landmarks such as the main square, royal quarters, Temple of the Three Windows, circular towers, Sacred Clock, and cemeteries. After the tour, return to Aguas Calientes for lunch and enjoy a free afternoon to relax or explore the town at your leisure. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.
Day 6 - Cusco
After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning at your own pace in Aguas Calientes. The town offers a variety of restaurants, bars, shops and a craft market to explore. Alternatively, you may choose to return to Machu Picchu with a second entrance ticket, which includes bus transfers from and to Aguas Calientes, to further discover this remarkable ancient city. We recommend an early start to experience the sunrise over the citadel and to explore additional sites such as Huayna Picchu, where you can see a complex of underground temples, or Inti Punku, the Sun Gateboth offering spectacular views from over 300 metres above Machu Picchu. Another option is the 30-minute hike to the Inca Bridge, a strategic and lesser-known entrance used by the Inca army, featuring a removable plank bridge along a sheer mountainside. After lunch, board the train back to Ollantaytambo station, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Cusco. In the evening, enjoy dinner in the historic city. Overnight in Cusco.
Day 7 - Cusco
After breakfast, set out from Cusco for a memorable horseback ride offering stunning views over the city as you pass through agricultural fields and traditional villages. This gentle ride provides a relaxing start to your day. In the afternoon, explore the highlights of Cusco on a walking tour beginning at the Santo Domingo Convent, built atop Coricanchathe Inca Temple of the Sun, once adorned with gold leaf and intricate nature motifs. Continue to the impressive cathedral on the Plaza de Armas before visiting the bustling San Pedro Market, where you can sample local treats such as chocolate and cheeses amid a vibrant array of regional produce. Alternatively, you may choose to visit the Casa Concha Museum, a colonial mansion housing an extensive collection of Inca artefacts from Machu Picchu. After the tour, return to your hotel to freshen up before enjoying dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Cusco.
