Itinerary
Day 1 - Lima
Upon arrival at Lima Airport, our representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in the city. Lima, Perus capital, is a vibrant metropolis blending modern life with rich history, currently experiencing dynamic cultural and economic growth. You can choose to rest and recover from your journey or explore the city at your leisure to get your first impression of Limas bustling atmosphere. Alternatively, you may opt to join our private evening excursion to the Magic Water Circuit, a spectacular display of fountains recognised by the Guinness World Records as the largest of its kind. This experience includes a guided tour of the illuminated fountains followed by dinner at a local restaurant. Please note this optional tour operates from 17:30, lasts around four hours, and is unavailable on Sundays and Mondays. Overnight accommodation is in Lima.
Day 2 - Lima
After breakfast at the hotel, we explore Limas historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site rich in colonial architecture. Begin with a scenic tour of the downtown area, including the Main Square, where the impressive Spanish Empire-era buildings stand. Visit Limas 16th-century Cathedral before heading to Casa Aliaga, a colonial mansion granted by Francisco Pizarro to Captain Jeronimo de Aliaga, still owned by the same family today. Next, we continue to the traditional district of Pueblo Libre to visit the Larco Museum, housed in a restored viceregal mansion built atop a 7th-century pre-Columbian pyramid. The museum features an extensive collection of pre-Hispanic gold and silver artefacts, as well as pieces of erotic art. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. Overnight in Lima.
Day 3 - Lima - Cusco - Yucay
After breakfast, we transfer you from your hotel to Lima Airport for your flight to Cusco. Please note that your domestic flight should arrive no later than 10:30 to allow for timely connections. Upon arrival, a representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. The afternoon is yours to relax or explore the area independently. Your flight to Cusco is not included. Overnight in the Sacred Valley.
Day 4 - Chinchero - Ollantaytambo - Yucay
After breakfast, we collect you from your hotel to visit Chinchero, a traditional town perched high above the valley with stunning views. The local community preserves Inca artisan traditions, evident in their clothing and customs. Explore the archaeological remains and the seventeenth-century church, one of Perus earliest Catholic buildings. Next, we transfer you to the Living Museum of Yucay, where youll see authentic demonstrations of traditional Andean crafts such as textile weaving, adobe construction, pottery, and silverworkpractices maintained as they were in Inca times. The museum is also home to llamas, sheep, and alpacas, which you can feed. Afterwards, arrive in Ollantaytambo, a town continuously inhabited since Inca times. Visit the impressive fortress built beside the mountain before enjoying a lunch that showcases refined Andean cuisine in a welcoming setting, capturing the spirit of the Sacred Valley. On Sundays, the visit includes the local market. We then return you to your hotel for the evening.
Day 5 - Aguas Calientes
After breakfast, we will transfer you to Ollanta Station to board the train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway town to Machu Picchu. The journey offers stunning views of the Andean landscape as you travel through dramatic mountain scenery. Upon arrival, a short 25-minute coach ride takes you to Machu Picchu. This remarkable Inca citadel, believed to have been constructed in the 1450s by Emperor Pachacuti as a royal retreat, was abandoned within a century following the Spanish conquest. Remarkably, it remained undiscovered by the Spaniards and was gradually reclaimed by the jungle. A guided tour will reveal the history and significance of this Lost City of the Incas, highlighting its key structures and features. Afterwards, return to Aguas Calientes for lunch at the renowned Caf Inkaterra, a charming thatched-roof restaurant nestled between the railway and the mountains. The afternoon is then yours to enjoy at leisure. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.
Day 6 - Aguas Calientes - Cusco
After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning at your own pace. We suggest returning independently to Machu Picchu to explore additional sites within the citadel. Please note that a second entrance ticket to Machu Picchu and the bus transfers between Aguas Calientes and the site are subject to availability. Consider hiking Huayna Picchu, which rises about 360 metres above Machu Picchu and features an underground temple complex, or Inti Punku (Sun Gate), located approximately 390 metres above the ruins, both offering exceptional views. In the afternoon, transfer to Aguas Calientes station to board the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, we will transfer you to your hotel in Cusco for your overnight stay.
Day 7 - Cusco
After breakfast at the hotel, we begin a guided tour of Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire. Our first stop is the Santo Domingo Convent, a large Renaissance-Baroque complex built atop the Inca Coricancha temple. This temple was once one of the most important sites dedicated to sun worship, with its foundations still visible beneath the convent. According to historical records, the temple was once covered in gold leaf and adorned with golden representations of nature. Next, we visit the Cathedral, the most impressive building on the Main Square. We then head to the hills above Cusco to explore the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, known for its massive stone walls and panoramic views of the city. Nearby, we visit the ruins of Qenqo, believed to have been a site for agricultural rituals. Our final stop is Puka Pukara, or Red Fortress in Quechua, an Inca military complex featuring dwellings, baths, aqueducts, walls and towers that remain well preserved. After the tour, we return to your hotel for drop-off.
Day 8 - Cusco
After breakfast, we will transfer you from your hotel to the airport for your onward journey.
