Itinerary
Day 1 - Cusco
Upon arrival at Cusco Airport, we will transfer you to your hotel. Please ensure your domestic flight from Lima arrives no later than 10:30 to allow sufficient time for the afternoon activities. We begin the tour at Coricancha, known as the Temple of the Sun, originally built by Inca Pachacuti and later incorporated into the Santo Domingo Convent by the Spanish. Next, we visit the Cathedral, a striking landmark on the Main Square, followed by Sacsayhuaman a vast Inca fortress constructed in the 15th century with massive stones, the transportation and assembly of which remain a mystery. We continue to Qenqo, an archaeological site used for agricultural rituals, before concluding at Puka Pukara, or Red Fort, located seven kilometres from the city. This complex, believed to have had a military function, features plazas, baths, aqueducts and towers, and likely served as a resting place for the Inca entourage. After the visits, we return to your hotel for the evening.
Day 2 - Cusco
After breakfast at the hotel, we transfer you to Ollantaytambo train station to begin your journey to Machu Picchu. The train ride to Aguas Calientes also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo takes around an hour and a half. This town is the gateway to Perus most significant archaeological site. From there, a short bus transfer brings you to Machu Picchu, an extraordinary example of Inca engineering and architecture. This ancient sanctuary and retreat, built under the rule of Pachacutec, is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After exploring the site, you take the bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch. We then return by train to Ollantaytambo station, followed by a comfortable transfer back to your hotel in Cusco for your overnight stay.
Day 3 - Cusco
Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards, we provide a comfortable transfer from your hotel to Cusco Airport to continue your onward journey. Breakfast is included.
