Itinerary
Day 1 - Arequipa
Upon arrival at Arequipa Airport, our representative will welcome you and escort you to your hotel. During the transfer, your guide will introduce you to the citys main attractions and assist with your check-in. We begin the tour at Plaza de Armas, where you can admire the elegant neo-Renaissance cathedral. Next, explore the remarkable Santa Catalina conventa self-contained complex founded in the 16th century that functioned as a secluded community for nuns and their servants. Walking through its vibrant streets offers a unique glimpse into colonial Peru. Finally, we visit the residential districts of Yanahuara and Carmen Alto, where you can enjoy stunning views of El Misti volcano towering above the city. You will spend the night at your chosen hotel in Arequipa on a bed-and-breakfast basis.
Day 2 - Arequipa - Ajpi
After breakfast, we depart Arequipa and drive through the Yura district, known for its striking gullies, mountain ranges and canyons. We continue across the Pampa Canahuas Reserve, a vast plain home to vicuas, one of Perus native Andean camelids. The journey takes us over the pampas of Viscachani and Toccra, passing close to the crater of Chucura Volcano before reaching the Los Andes viewpoint at Patapampa, situated at 4,800 metres above sea level. From here, you can admire the surrounding volcanoes that frame Arequipa. We stop for lunch in the charming town of Chivay, then transfer to your chosen hotel in the Colca Valley. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Overnight accommodation is on a bed-and-breakfast basis, with lunch included.
Day 3 - Arequipa
After breakfast, we set out for the dramatic Condor Cross viewpoint, where you can take in the vast expanse of the Colca Valleyone of the worlds deepest canyons, reaching over 4,160 metres deep, twice the depth of the Grand Canyon. Here, youll witness the impressive sight of condors soaring gracefully above the canyon, their disciplined flight a remarkable natural display. We then descend to the valley floor to explore several traditional towns along the Colca River, including Chivay, Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma and Yanque. These villages feature charming colonial churches that blend seamlessly with the surrounding Andean peaks. Along the way, we pause at the Antahuilque and Choquetico viewpoints to admire sweeping views of the valley. After lunch, we return to Arequipa for an overnight stay at your chosen hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Lunch is included.
Day 4 - Arequipa
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey. Breakfast is included.
