Day 3 - Marrakech - Ait Benhadou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne Dades
On our third day, we'll embark on an adventure across the Atlas Mountains, leaving behind the palm groves of Marrakech. As we travel, you'll catch sight of quaint Berber villages perched along deep gorges. Our first stop is the fortified village of Ait Benhaddou, famed for its appearances in many films. Continuing on, we'll traverse landscapes that evoke biblical imagery and pause in Ouarzazate, known for its impressive Kasbah. We then journey through the Valley of Roses, eventually arriving in Boumalne Dades where dinner is provided. Please note that in winter, snowdrifts may occasionally cause road closures, and plans will be adjusted accordingly. Access to the Sahara Desert is subject to these road conditions.
Day 4 - Boumalne Dades - Todgha - Erfoud
Today we continue our captivating journey through the Sahara Desert. Our route takes us via the Valley of the Kasbahs, where river valleys lined with countless palm trees unfold into extensive rocky plains. These eventually give way to verdant oases and adobe villages, punctuated by imposing fortresses that have long guarded ancient trade routes. Our first stop is the stunning Todgha Gorge, a spectacular canyon with towering walls that soar over 100 metres high. As we travel, we pause in a small adobe town near Khorbat to learn about the desert community, though our visit may be influenced by weather conditions such as river flooding. Our journey then continues towards Erfoud. For those seeking adventure, an off-road excursion to the Sahara Deserts sand dunes is available, offering an unforgettable opportunity to witness a magnificent sunset. Lunch is included in today's itinerary.
Day 5 - Erfoud - Fez
We'll set off early from Erfoud, embarking on a journey through the dramatic gorges and stunning landscapes of the Atlas Mountains. Once again, we'll cross a high, chilly plateau, home to nomadic shepherds. Our first pause will be in Midelt, a bustling town known for its agricultural significance. Next, we'll stop for lunch, which is included, amidst the serene beauty of a lake in the Middle Atlas region. Here, the scenery shifts dramatically as we enter an area rich in forests, often blanketed in snow during the winter months. Close to Azrou, we shall visit the House of Cedars in a national parka modest museum offering intriguing insights into the local region. This area is home to lively colonies of monkeys, providing a unique wildlife encounter. Continuing our journey, well arrive in Bhalil, a tranquil Berber town in the Middle Atlas. Famous for its quaint old quarter with its vibrant streets, the town also features homes where cave dwellings have been adaptively integrated. Finally, we'll reach Fez, where we'll make a stop to take in the view of the historic city from the Marinid Tombs, before heading to our hotel for the evening. Dinner is included.
Day 6 - Fez - Tangier
Our day begins in Fez, where we will explore the citys rich history, starting by entering through the impressive Bronze Gates of the Royal Palace. A delightful included lunch awaits us at a historic palace in the heart of the Medina, adding a touch of traditional Moroccan elegance to our visit. In the afternoon, we will head northwards, travelling along modern highways to reach Tangier by evening. Once in Tangier, a sumptuous dinner will be served, rounding off a day filled with cultural highlights and a seamless journey through Moroccos landscape.
Day 7 - Tangier - Seville
Enjoy some leisure time in Tangier perfect for any last-minute shopping you might want to do. Once you're ready, we'll board a ferry to return to Spain. Please note that the bus will not accompany us on the ferry, so you'll need to carry your luggage. Our ferry trip lands in either Algeciras or Tarifa, from where we'll continue our journey to Seville. We're scheduled to arrive in the evening, in time for an included dinner.
