What to pack for Morocco
So, you’ve booked a trip to Morocco but don’t know what to pack? Well, with our handy packing guide choosing what to bring on your Moroccan adventure couldn’t be simpler. We’ve put together a list of things you should consider packing for your Moroccan adventure.
Documents
First (and possibly most important) you should make sure you have all the appropriate documents that you’ll need for the trip. You should check that you have the following:
Passport
Plane ticket & boarding pass – either printed or digital
Travel insurance documents
Visa (if required, check your local Visa requirements)
Emergency contact numbers
Photocopies of important documents
Drivers licence
Local currency
Vaccination records
Clothes
When visiting a new country, it’s important to dress for the climate. Morocco tends to have a typical Mediterranean climate, with mild rainy winers and hot dry summers. The south of the country also tends to be a little warmer and drier than its northern counterpart. What clothes you need to bring depends on the time of year that you’re visiting. You should also be aware of the cultural views of Morocco. For example, it is best to dress modestly in clothes that are loose fitting and cover a majority of the body.
Visiting during the cold season
Layering is key when visiting during Morocco’s colder months, typically November to February, as mid-day can still bring mild temperatures whilst morning and evening tends to be cooler. We recommend packing:
Long sleeve tops
Sweaters
Lightweight thermals (for visiting particularly cold regions such as the atlas mountains)
Jeans/thicker trousers
Maxi skirts/ long dresses
Thermal leggings
Warm jacket
A windbreaker (for coastal regions)
Shoes that are comfortable for long walks
Walking boots
A scarf or shall (to help keep warm and cover up when visiting religious sites)
Gloves/hats (for particularly cold areas)
Sunglasses and sunscreen (even though it is cold the sun can still be strong in Morocco during winter)
An easy to carry bag
Visiting during the warm season
Morocco’s hot season can be very hot so packing lightweight, breathable clothing is imperative when visiting between May to September. It is important to respect the local custom and not wear anything that is too short or revealing, this is why choosing light flowy fabrics is key when visiting Morocco in the warmer months. For your summer trip to Morocco, we recommend:
Light long sleeve tops
T-shirts
Maxi dresses
Long skirts
Swimwear
Comfortable trousers (such as loose linen or cotton trousers)
Trousers suitable for hiking and rugged terrain
A shawl to wear in the evenings and to cover up in religious sites
Comfortable shoes like trainers, walking shoes and sandals
Lightweight sweater (for cooler evenings)
Hats and sunglasses
An easy to carry bag
