Day 1 - Cancun - Merida
We begin our journey by heading south towards Merida, the vibrant capital of the Yucatan State. Rich in colonial and Mayan heritage, Merida is a city of fascinating contrasts. Todays highlights include a visit to the city's fortified cathedral and the Limestone Church of the Third Order. Well also explore the House of Montejo, a 16th-century mansion famed for its striking Plateresque colonial architecture. You have free time in the afternoon, during which you might choose to discover the Museum of the Mayan World for deeper insights into the regions history. In the evening, weve arranged a transfer for you to experience the "Sacred Stones" sound and light show a captivating display that brings the past to life. Well then settle into our accommodation for the night. Please be aware that throughout this tour, travellers may join or leave at different points along the route without exceeding the maximum group size. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Merida - Izamal - Chichen Itza - Rio Lagartos
Today, we embark on an enchanting journey through the Yucatn state. We begin with a visit to Izamal, celebrated as one of Mexico's most charming cities and honoured as a 'Magic Town.' Our exploration then takes us to Chichen Itza, where admission is included for a comprehensive visit to the illustrious site, recognised as a World Heritage Site. Here, we will witness the awe-inspiring pyramid of Kukulcn and the Temple of the Warriors, which stand as monumental remnants of the Mayan civilisation.After our exploration, we are treated to a traditional Mayan lunch to savour the rich flavours of the local cuisine. Our journey continues to Rio Lagartos, a picturesque fishing village nestled within a vast Biosphere Reserve. This setting offers a unique opportunity to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Yucatn.
Day 3 - Rio Lagartos - Cenote Choj Ha - Cancun
Today promises an exciting exploration of nature's wonders. We begin our morning with an unforgettable boat ride, lasting over two hours, through the spectacular biosphere reserve. Here, you'll have the chance to observe crocodiles nestled among the mangroves, as well as a variety of bird species, including pelicans and the vivid pink flamingos. You'll also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the "mud experience," where you can apply mineral-rich mud, full of sulphur and salts, which acts as a natural exfoliant, leaving your skin feeling wonderfully soft.Afterwards, we journey to Valladolid, the third-largest city in Yucatn, renowned for its charming historic city centre. During your free time, we recommend having lunch at one of the delightful restaurants around the main square. In the afternoon, we visit Cenote Choj Ha, an enchanting spot managed by the local Mayan community. We will take a short walk through the jungle to explore a dry cave before you have the chance to swim in the stunning lake within the wet cave.Our adventure concludes with a journey to Cancn, where we will arrive in the late afternoon.
Day 4 - Cancun
