Itinerary
Day 1 - Los mochis
Upon arrival at Los Mochis airport, we transfer you to your hotel for check-in. Later in the afternoon, join a guided tour of the city beginning with a visit to the botanical garden. Then board a boat to explore the port of Topolobampo by water. Spend the night in Los Mochis.
Day 2 - Los mochis - El fuerte
After breakfast, we transfer to the colonial city of El Fuerte and check in to your hotel. You will have some free time to relax or explore independently. If you wish, you can take an optional visit to the nearby town of Capomos to experience the local Yoreme-Mayo culture up close. In the late afternoon, we take a guided tour of El Fuertes historic centre, including the main square, city hall, museum and the riverside boardwalk overlooking the El Fuerte River. You will spend the night in El Fuerte.
Day 3 - El fuerte - Cerocahui
After breakfast, enjoy a free morning in El Fuerte. We suggest taking a raft trip along the Fuerte River to spot local birdlife and experience unspoiled nature. At around 9.30 am, transfer to the train station to board the Chepe Express in Tourist Class. Upon arrival at Bahuichivo station, you will be transferred to your hotel in Cerocahui. After check-in, the rest of the day is at your leisure. You might like to explore the charming town on foot, visiting the Mission of San Javier, the Valley of the Lions, Huicochi waterfall or nearby vineyards. Return to the hotel in the evening for dinner, which is included. Overnight in Cerocahui.
Day 4 - El Divisadero
After breakfast, we set out for the viewpoint at Gallego Hill, where youll see the Urique Canyon the deepest of the Copper Canyon system, plunging 1,890 metres below. We return to the hotel for lunch before transferring to Divisadero. Later in the afternoon, we take a guided walk to Tarahumara Cave, enjoying spectacular views over the Urique, Tararecua, and Copper Canyons. The day concludes with dinner at the hotel.
Day 5 - El Divisadero
After breakfast, we take a guided walk to the Divisadero viewpoint, La Piedra Volada, offering stunning views over the canyon. Next, we visit the local market, where you can browse a wide selection of handicrafts and souvenirs made by the Rarmuri people. Afterwards, we drive to Barrancas del Cobre National Park, where a range of adventure activities are available for you to try at your own expense, including cable car rides, zip riders, via ferrata routes and a seven-station zip line. We then return to the hotel for lunch. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. We suggest an optional hike to a Tarahumara cave and various viewpoints over Barranca del Cobre, or a visit to a Rarmuri community to learn traditional cooking and basket weaving. The day concludes with dinner at the hotel.
Day 6 - Creel
After breakfast, we transfer to the enchanting town of Creel. Here, we visit the Valley of the Monks to see its striking rock formations, followed by Lake Arareco, known for its scenic, snow-like appearance reminiscent of Scandinavian lakes. We also explore the historic Mission of San Ignacio and a nearby Tarahumara cave, where indigenous people continue to live traditionally. You then have the afternoon at your leisure to wander through Creelperhaps visit the main square, the local museum or the Cristo Rey viewpoint. Overnight in Creel.
Day 7 - Creel - Chihuahua
After breakfast, we travel to Chihuahua, pausing en route to visit Candamea Canyon and the Basaseachic Falls, Mexicos second-highest waterfall at 246 metres. This stop is available during the rainy season from July to November; from December to June, when rainfall is lower, we explore Namurachi Canyon instead. You can also choose to visit a Mennonite family or the Mennonite Museum in Cuauhtmoc, noting the museums last entry is at 15:00. Upon arrival in Chihuahua, we transfer you to your hotel for overnight.
Day 8 - Chihuahua
After breakfast, we take a guided walking tour of Chihuahua city. Highlights include the Cathedral, the zcalo, the Pancho Villa Museum and Quinta Gameros, offering insight into the citys rich history and culture. Afterwards, we transfer you to Chihuahua airport for your onward flight.
