Day 1 - Mexico City
Welcome to Mexico! Upon your arrival in Mexico City, a transfer will take you to your hotel, allowing you to settle in and unwind. You'll have the remainder of the day to yourself, giving you the opportunity to begin exploring this vibrant capital city at your leisure. Later this afternoon, one of our guides will reach out to provide you with all the essential details for the upcoming days of adventure. Enjoy your initial impressions of Mexico City with its rich tapestry of culture and history. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Mexico City
After a hearty breakfast, we'll embark on a fascinating exploration of Mexico City and the extraordinary site of Teotihuacan just 40 km from the capital. Our day begins at the Plaza of the Three Cultures, a unique convergence of pre-Hispanic, colonial, and modern influences. Next, we venture to Teotihuacan, one of the most important archaeological sites in Latin America. Here, you'll witness the grandeur of the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, walk the Avenue of the Dead, and admire the intricate remains of the Temple of Quetzalpapalotl and the Citadel. A visit to a local artisan centre enriches our cultural journey before we head back to the city. We'll also stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a pilgrimage centre honouring the patroness of Latin America. After returning to the hotel, the rest of the day is yours to explore or relax as you wish.
Day 3 - Mexico City - Tepoztlan - Cuernavaca - Taxco
After breakfast, we depart Mexico City and set our sights on Tepoztlan, nestled in the state of Morelos. This picturesque town, designated a Pueblo Mgico, is celebrated for its tranquil atmosphere and spiritual allure, all set against a stunning green hillside topped with a small pyramid. You'll have the opportunity to wander the charming streets or explore the vibrant artisan market at your leisure. Our journey then continues to Cuernavaca, the capital of Morelos, affectionately known as "The City of Eternal Spring." With roots stretching back to pre-Hispanic times, this city later served as a refuge for both Aztec nobles and the colonial Spanish elite. Take time to marvel at the Palace of Hernn Corts, visit the cathedral, and enjoy the city's beautiful gardens and parks. You'll have free time to savour lunch here.Our final destination for the day is Taxco, situated in the state of Guerrero. Renowned for its colonial charm, cobbled streets, and whitewashed houses, this enchanting town is also famed for its silver craftsmanship. As one of Mexico's most captivating Pueblos Mgicos, Taxco offers a wealth of history and beauty to discover. Youll have the chance to explore the city before settling in for the night.
Day 4 - Taxco - Chilpancingo - Acapulco
Following breakfast, we will embark on a scenic journey through the mountains to Chilpancingo de los Bravo, the capital of Guerrero. Chilpancingo is a lively city that has played a pivotal role in Mexico's fight for independence. Upon arrival, our guide will lead us to the regional museum where you can admire murals detailing the rich tapestry of Mexicos history. From there, we will continue towards Acapulco, renowned for its stunning beaches and spectacular views. Once in Acapulco, youll have the chance to unwind on the popular beaches lined with a selection of restaurants ideal for a leisurely lunch. In the afternoon, we will tour La Fortaleza, a fort dating back to the 17th century, built to shield the city from pirate invasionstickets are included. After exploring the fort, we will transfer you to your hotel where youll have some free time to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Day 5 - Acapulco - Zihuatanejo
After breakfast, we continue our adventure along the stunning Pacific Coast, covering a distance of 230 km to Zihuatanejo. This enchanting destination is celebrated for its immaculate beaches, laid-back atmosphere, and charming cobblestone streets. Once a quiet fishing village, Zihuatanejo has managed to preserve its unique allure. As part of our itinerary, we'll enjoy a brief, 10-minute boat journey to Playa Las Gatas. Accessible solely by sea, this beach offers a wonderful opportunity for you to swim, unwind, and dine at one of the many delightful restaurants. After our return boat trip, you can settle into your accommodation and enjoy some leisure time. Please note that during peak seasons, lodging options in Zihuatanejo may be limited. In such cases, we might opt for a late afternoon departure to stay in the nearby city of Lzaro Crdenas.
Day 6 - Zihuatanejo - Janitzio - Patzcuaro
As we leave behind the arid landscapes, the scenery transforms into the green mountains of Michoacn. Our first destination is Lake Ptzcuaro, where we board a boat for a 30-minute journey to the island of Janitzio. Inhabited by the Purpecha community, Janitzio is renowned for preserving its rich traditions and distinctive butterfly-net fishing. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch at one of the island's local restaurants, explore its traditional streets, and, if you choose, ascend to the impressive statue of Jos Mara Morelos. We then return by boat to Ptzcuaro, a beautiful colonial town with deep pre-Hispanic roots. Its charming atmosphere, colonial architecture, and vibrant artisan markets offer an unforgettable experience.
Day 7 - Patzcuaro - Morelia - Cuitzeo del porvenir - Mexico City
Today, we'll set off for Morelia, the captivating capital of Michoacan, celebrated for its exquisite pink stone architecture and rich historical centre, which has earned UNESCO World Heritage status. During our visit, you'll have the opportunity to admire the stunning Cathedral and the lively Plaza de Armas, and learn about its university, established in 1540. You will also have time to explore the city and savour lunch at your own pace. Our journey will then take us to Cuitzeo del Porvenir, beautifully set by Mexicos second-largest lake. Here, you may wish to discover the splendid 16th-century Ex-Convent of Santa Mara Magdalena and wander through the town's charming cobblestone streets and historic structures. Well make our way back to Mexico City in the evening, with an expected arrival time of around 7:30 p.m.
Day 8 - Mexico City
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in Mexico City on this final day of your journey. With your itinerary drawing to a close, you'll have time to reflect on the vibrant experiences and cultural landmarks you've explored. Please note that the transfer from the hotel to the airport is not included, so you'll need to make your own travel arrangements.
