Day 1 - Mexico City
Welcome to vibrant Mexico City! Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel, offering a perfect opportunity to unwind after your journey. You'll have some free time to immerse yourself in the city's lively atmosphere and perhaps start exploring its rich cultural landscape at your own pace. Our friendly guide will reach out to you later this afternoon to ensure youre well-informed and ready for the exciting days ahead. Get ready for a captivating adventure! Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Mexico City
On the second day, after a hearty breakfast, we set off to discover the vibrant Mexico City and the awe-inspiring Teotihuacan, located about 40 kilometres from the capital. Our exploration begins at the Plaza of the Three Cultures, a fascinating intersection where history and modernity converge. Next, we venture to Teotihuacan, an extraordinary archaeological site. Here, we admire the grand Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, delve into the enigmatic Temple of Quetzalpapalotl, and stroll along the Avenue of the Dead, all steeped in ancient history. We also have the opportunity to visit a local artisan centre, offering a glimpse into the regions craftsmanship.On our return to Mexico City, we stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a revered site and a significant pilgrimage destination for millions in Latin America. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure upon our return to the hotel.
Day 3 - Mexico City - Tepoztlan - Cuernavaca - Taxco
Following breakfast, we will leave Mexico City and make our way to Tepoztln, nestled in the state of Morelos. With its reputation as a spiritual and wellness haven, this enchanting Pueblo Mgico is set against a dramatic green hillside crowned by a small pyramid. Here, youll have free time to either wander the charming streets or peruse the artisan market. Our next destination is Cuernavaca, the capital of Morelos, famously known as "The City of Eternal Spring". This city, with its origins in pre-Hispanic times, was once a retreat for Aztec nobility and later became favoured by the Spanish colonial elite. Key sights include the Palace of Hernn Corts, the historic cathedral, and the citys beautiful gardens and parks, where you'll have free time to enjoy lunch.Our journey continues to Taxco in the state of Guerrero, considered one of Mexicos most picturesque Pueblos Mgicos. Set amongst the mountains, this town is renowned for its colonial allure, cobbled streets, whitewashed homes, and celebrated silver craftsmanship. Youll have time to explore the quaint city streets and perhaps discover some of its artisanal silver creations. After your exploration, you can settle in for an overnight stay in this unforgettable destination.
Day 4 - Taxco - Chilpancingo - Acapulco
After breakfast, we will set off through the mountains to Chilpancingo de los Bravo, the capital of Guerrero. This lively city embodies the essence of Mexican urban culture and plays an important role in the nation's independence narrative. Our guide will accompany you to the local museum, featuring expansive murals that capture Mexicos rich history. We then continue our journey to Acapulco, renowned for its stunning beaches and dramatic scenery. Upon arrival, relax on the beach, which is lined with various eateries where you can enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit La Fortaleza, a 17th-century fort designed to protect the city from pirate raids, with entrance tickets included. Afterwards, well head to the hotel where youll have some free time to unwind.
Day 5 - Acapulco - Zihuatanejo
After enjoying breakfast, we continue our picturesque drive along the stunning Pacific Coast, covering 230 kilometres to reach the delightful seaside town of Zihuatanejo. Famed for its unspoiled beaches and laid-back vibe, this picturesque destination boasts charming cobblestone streets and has retained the quaint appeal of its origins as a fishing village. Our adventure includes a short, scenic boat ride taking approximately 10 minutes to the secluded Playa Las Gatas, which is accessible solely by sea. You'll have the perfect opportunity to swim, unwind, and perhaps enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many beachfront restaurants. After returning by boat, you'll settle into your accommodation and have some free time to explore at your leisure. It's important to note that during peak seasons, accommodation in Zihuatanejo may be limited, and we might need to continue our journey later in the day to spend the night in the city of Lzaro Crdenas.
Day 6 - Zihuatanejo - Janitzio - Patzcuaro
As we journey onwards from Zihuatanejo, the landscape gradually transitions from arid desert to the verdant mountains of Michoacan. Our first destination of the day is Lake Ptzcuaro, where we will embark on a scenic 30-minute boat ride to the island of Janitzio. This island is home to the Purepecha community, renowned for their rich traditions and distinctive butterfly-net fishing techniques. Here, you can savour a leisurely lunch at one of the island's many local eateries, meander through its traditional streets, and, if youre inclined, ascend to the remarkable statue of Jos Mara Morelos. After returning by boat to the mainland, we will continue to Ptzcuaro, celebrated as one of Mexico's most picturesque colonial towns. With its blend of pre-Hispanic heritage, colonial architecture, bustling artisan markets, and its delightful atmosphere, Ptzcuaro is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Day 7 - Patzcuaro - Morelia - Cuitzeo del porvenir - Guadalajara
Today, we journey to Morelia, the capital of Michoacn, famed for its stunning pink stone architecture and designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As we explore its historical centre, youll discover significant landmarks such as the impressive Cathedral, the bustling Plaza de Armas, and the university, which was founded in 1540. Youll have ample free time to wander through the streets and perhaps sample some local cuisine for lunch. Our adventure then continues to Cuitzeo del Porvenir, nestled beside Mexico's second-largest lake. In this charming town, you can visit the Ex-Convent of Santa Mara Magdalena. This architectural marvel, built in the Plateresque style during the 16th century, is well worth a glance. You can also take a leisurely stroll through the cobblestone streets, lined with historic structures that breathe life into the town's rich past. We conclude our day in Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco. Known for its vibrant colonial architecture, this city is celebrated as the birthplace of Mariachi music and Tequila. We anticipate arriving in the evening, where you will have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with this dynamic city.
Day 8 - Guadalajara
We start the day by exploring Guadalajara, a vibrant city that blends its modern vibe with colonial history. You'll visit the historic centre, featuring its majestic cathedral and the bustling market at Tapata Square. A highlight of the morning is the renowned Cabaas Hospice, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Later, we travel to the town of Tequila, famous for its production of the iconic Mexican spirit. Entry to the Mundo Cuervo distillery is included, offering a fascinating insight into the Tequila-making process, complete with tasting. Afterwards, you'll have time to wander and enjoy lunch in this picturesque town, before we head back to Guadalajara.
Day 9 - Guadalajara - Mexico City
After breakfast, we will arrange your transfer to the bus station, where you will embark on a luxury category coach journey back to Mexico City. The journey takes just over six and a half hours, allowing you to relax and perhaps reflect on the experiences of your trip. We expect to arrive in Mexico City around 4 p.m. This marks the conclusion of our services, and we hope your travels have resulted in some delightful and lasting memories. Please ensure you check your flight schedule, as you might need to arrange an additional night's stay.
