Day 1 - Mexico City
Welcome to Mexico! Upon your arrival in Mexico City, you'll be transferred to your hotel, allowing you to settle in and unwind. You'll have some free time to begin your adventure by discovering the vibrant local sights at your own pace. Later in the afternoon, our guide will reach out to you with all the necessary details for the days ahead. Enjoy your first taste of this extraordinary city and prepare for the exciting explorations that await. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Mexico City
On day two, we embark on a captivating journey through Mexico City and the renowned archaeological site of Teotihuacan, situated just 40 kilometres from the capital. After breakfast, we head to the Plaza of the Three Cultures, where the layers of history are vividly displayed. Our exploration continues at Teotihuacan, where we delve into the awe-inspiring Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, marvel at the intricate Temple of Quetzalpapalotl, the Citadel, and traverse the historic Avenue of the Dead. A visit to a local artisan centre offers insights into traditional crafts. As we return to the city, we'll stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, an important religious site in Latin America. Following our return to the hotel, the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure.
Day 3 - Mexico City - Queretaro
Enjoy a leisurely morning in Mexico City, where you have the freedom to explore the vibrant surroundings at your own pace. After lunch, we will arrange for your transfer to the bus station for a comfortable journey to Quertaro, located about 200 kilometres from Mexico City. Upon arrival, you will be taken to your hotel to settle in. Quertaro, founded in 1531, is steeped in history and boasts a rich cultural and architectural heritage. It played a pivotal role in Mexico's Independence and the Mexican Revolution. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its historic centre is a treasure trove of charming plazas, baroque churches, and colonial structures. Over the coming days, you'll have the opportunity to wander its cobblestone streets and bustling markets, all against the backdrop of the citys lush gardens and the impressive 18th-century aqueduct.
Day 4 - Queretaro
Today, we journey to the enchanting Pueblo Mgico of San Sebastin de Bernal, known for its serene setting at the foot of the third-largest monolith in the world. This picturesque town is recognised for its talented textile artisans, offering a glimpse into their skillful crafts. Next, we'll explore Tequisquiapan, renowned for its mineral water spas and charming colonial architecture that graces its cobbled streets. Here, you can discover a variety of handmade artisanal products, with a particular highlight on the beautifully crafted woven baskets available in the local market. Our day includes a guided tour, providing insights into the region's rich history. The excursion also promises a delightful culinary experience as we visit the San Patricio Winery and the Bocanegra Cheese Cellar. You'll have the opportunity to learn about cheese production and the specific challenges posed by winemaking at high altitudes, all while enjoying a tasting of the region's wines.
Day 5 - Queretaro
In the morning, you have some leisure time to further explore the delightful city of Quertaro at your own pace. In the afternoon, we invite you on a singular theatrical journey at Hacienda Atongo, an enchanting seventeenth-century estate located just 40 km from Quertaro. Our visit includes a guided tour where youll be swept back in time courtesy of local actors portraying characters from the haciendas storied past. You'll discover its historical main buildings and picturesque vineyard, all while enjoying a refreshing wine beverage crafted on site. Once the performance concludes, well make our way back to Quertaro.
Day 6 - Queretaro - Tula - Puebla
Today, we set off for Tula, historically the heart of Toltec civilisation. The included visit to the archaeological site unveils the remarkable four-metre-high Atlantean figures, which stand as testament to the artistry and architectural prowess of this pre-Hispanic culture. Youll also explore the various pyramids, palaces, and beautifully carved columns that highlight the sophistication of the Toltecs. Our journey then leads us to Puebla, a city celebrated for its rich culinary heritage, exquisite colonial architecture, and renowned ceramics. In Puebla, youll experience the grandeur of the Renaissance cathedral and can enjoy the bustling atmosphere of the main square. We'll spend the night in this vibrant city, where history and modern life blend seamlessly.
Day 7 - Puebla - Oaxaca
Our journey today takes us towards the state of Oaxaca, a region renowned for its striking landscapes and rich cultural history. As we travel, we'll traverse stunning mountainous terrain, offering picturesque views. We aim to arrive in Oaxaca by late morning, where we'll immerse ourselves in the charm of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Originally established by the Aztecs, Oaxaca boasts a wealth of historical heritage that we will explore. Our adventure continues with a visit to Monte Albn, perched 400 metres above the Oaxaca Valley. Recognised as the most splendid of the Zapotec cities, this ancient site promises a fascinating journey through history with our guided tourtickets are included. After delving into the past at Monte Albn, we'll return to Oaxaca, where you'll have the opportunity to further discover the city at your leisure. Take this time to wander through its vibrant streets, explore local markets, or simply soak in the unique atmosphere of this historical city.
Day 8 - Oaxaca - Mexico City
On our final day, we will arrange your transfer from Oaxaca to the airport for your included flight back to Mexico City. As our journey concludes, we hope to leave you with a treasure trove of cherished memories from your travels. The estimated arrival time in Mexico City is 3:00 p.m.
